Congressmen Cao and Bishop spin a new “Tale of Two Cities” or at least two states

March 17th, 2010

It is the best of times, and the worst of times in America, and Congressmen Joseph Cao and Sanford Bishop are in the eye of the storm…

Dickens’ fictious characters lived in Paris and London before and during the French Revolution.

Our real life members of Congress, Cao (R) and Bishop (D) live in Lousiana and Georgia respectively. While Dickens wrote of the French Revolution, America is at the peak of a defining moment. One might say that the health care bill is revolutionary and we are living in times that could determine whether millions of unborn babies live or die, times that will alter the course of countless other lives.

Cao and Bishop are two men from disparate (different) backgrounds, cities, and parties, yet both are dealing with the same life or death question. If they vote against the current Health Care (or Death Care depending on your perspective) Bill, it could effect their upcoming bids for re-election.

They are in the forefront of the battle, yet there are many other elected officials at the federal and state levels who are faced with the same question: what is right? Do I vote for what is right even though it can loose me my seat? Well gentlemen, there is much more at stake than political power. What about our souls. These are truly the times that try men’s (and women’s) souls. It is the best of times, and the worst of times…

Surprise on CBS “The Good Wife”

March 17th, 2010

Okay, I like to use film, music and movies to make a point. But really, this one is as good as the Law and Order Show that dealt with abortion. If you don’t watch the CBS “The Good Wife” series, maybe you could check out the one from last night.

The wife is a junior law assistant, her husband is a “fallen” DA or something. He’s at home in leg monitor on at home jail time. He cheated on her with a prostitute, although that may or may not have been somewhat of a setup? He lied on the stand, to protect his family he says. Last night, an African American Pastor led him in a “come to Jesus” moment, while the wife was involved in a case that debated abortion and showed pictures of the inutero surgery of the little baby that is so popular. A couple wanted surgery to save the life of their baby boy in her womb. Turns out, the emotional mother had a history of pro-choice activism, but now wants to argue that her baby is a baby and not a fetus… Check it out. No matter what happens next on the show, it was dramatic to say the least!

Please support and encourage your members of Congress and state legistators to pass anti-coersion legislation

March 10th, 2010

1. A Tennessee House committee on Tuesday passed legislation to require any hospital or clinic that performs abortions to post a sign stating that it is illegal to coerce a woman to have an abortion. The measure would also require a woman to give written consent to an abortion.

H.B. 1155 “Prenatal Non-discrimination Act” (PreNDA)
by Mike Griffin, Legislative Director

This piece of bipartisan legislation was introduced in the Georgia House by our good friend Representative Barry Loudermilk and cosigned by 5 other Representatives. Four out of the first six names are African Americans and two out of the six are Democrats. The bill would make it a crime for anyone attempting to coerce or solicit a female to abort based on the race or sex of her unborn child would be guilty of a crime. It also would be a crime to perform an abortion, while knowing it was motivated by the baby’s race or sex. Likewise, it would be a crime to perform abortions intended to control the population of a specific race or sex.

Pregnant women targeted for criminal solicitation of abortion would not be criminally or civilly liable. Victims of violations could recover all damages available under state tort law, as well as damages for the homicide of an unborn child. Systemic violations of abortion law could be prosecuted under the corrupt organization statute and harmed individuals would have a private cause of action. Convicted abortionists could be sentenced to prison for one to ten years.

H.B. 1155 is partly based upon existing federal legislation that Congressman Trent Franks of Arizona introduced last year in the U.S. Congress. Our bill, like his, would make it illegal to abort a child for reasons of sex or race or the race of their parents. Note the evidence from the outline below that shows some of the reasons justifying this kind of legislation:

1) In 2008, blacks made up 30% of the population but over 59% of the abortions in Georgia.

2) In 2008, Georgia had 18,901 black abortions – which is the highest reported number of black abortions in the U.S. (in the 37 states that report.)

3) Because of targeting, 94% of the abortion clinics nationwide are located in urban areas where blacks reside.

4) As a result of coercion and solicitation, black women abort their babies 3 times the rate of white women.

5) Prenatal sex selection is available in the United States and worldwide.

6) Young Georgia women pregnant with bi-racial babies have been coerced into abortion to prevent mixed-race births.

American Idol, StayTeen.org and Planned Parenthood: Promoting Sex, Abortion

March 6th, 2010

There is a dangerous and subtle shift in the cultural impact of American Idol. AI fans should let AI know that messages that promote premarital sex and abortion hurt our culture…

American Idol, StayTeen.org and Planned Parenthood: Promoting Sex, Abortion

by Kortney Blythe
March 5, 2010

LifeNews.com Note: Kortney Blythe oversees the Rock for Life chapters and street teams throughout the nation to encourage continued activism and assist them in persevering in the battle to restore personhood to pre-born children.

While watching American Idol, a commercial came on that caught my attention. An amateurish-looking home video showed two giddy, laughing teenage girls jumping on a trampoline, acting goofy. Then a voiceover said:

“I love my life. I’m not gonna mess it up with a pregnancy.”

And a web site flashed on the screen: Stayteen.org.

Being the abortion abolitionist I am, I immediately opened my laptop to check it out. At first, I was pleasantly surprised. The web site, which is funded by a grant from the Department of Health and Human Services Administration for Children and Families, strongly advised waiting to have sex.

Among the various messages were myths about sex, lists of compelling reasons why abstinence is best and even a mention of how TV and movies portray sex as having no repercussions. In addition, they impressively differentiated between lust and love, and recognized the physical and emotional consequences attached to sex.

According to their bullet points, not everybody is doing it. Nearly 70 percent of teens wish they had waited to have sex and 94 percent want a strong abstinence message.

But, as I expected, that was the end of the good news. After leaving the “abstinence” section and perusing the rest of the site, I came upon the “help and advice” section. Who took the top spot under the first three resource topics?

Planned Parenthood.

Yes, that bastion of abortion, libertine sex (for the young and old) and the undermining of parents and purity. To appease parents and the general public, Planned Parenthood occasionally uses the word abstinence in their propaganda. But when mentioned, it is nearly always followed with a “but” and some nonsense about realizing how unrealistic it is; thus undermining the whole purpose of promoting it.

It’s disturbingly contradictory for a web site that claims to want to prevent teen pregnancy and promote abstinence to send young people to Planned Parenthood for questions about “sex, protection, contraception…STDs…[and] emergency contraception.”

Once again, our government (and whoever else was involved in this site) fails to grasp the mixed messages they are sending to kids when they view such a web site.

A show like American Idol is watched by families with kids of varying ages. Many of them will visit StayTeen.org because of the captivating commercial. Unfortunately, the site perpetuates the false message that “abstinence is good, but since it’s probably not realistic, use contraception.” Until parents start consistently teaching their children and teens lifelong chastity, the rates of teen pregnancy, STDs and premarital sex at younger and younger ages will continue to rise.

No amount of confusing web sites will change the statistics.

Her pain is our pain. She ain’t heavy, she’s our sister: Abortion twitter second chapter

March 6th, 2010

There is a classic song - the lyrics say this: “He ain’t heavy, he’s my brother…” We the young woman from the Abortion Twitter and Youtube story may not know it, but she has joined a sisterhood of women who have had adverse results from an abortion. That makes her my sister, because I also experienced pain and danger to my health from the abortion experience.

Live Tweeting Abortion: Experience Shows Abortion Still Hurts Women

by Steven Ertelt
LifeNews.com Editor
March 5, 2010

Washington, DC (LifeNews.com) — Angie Jackson made national headlines recently when she decided to use a combination of Twitter and YouTube updates to document her abortion using the dangerous mifepristone abortion drug. Two pro-life advocates say the experienced shows abortion still hurts women.

As LifeNews.com reported, Jackson, who called herself Angie the Atheist, prompted shock from pro-life advocates for live-blogging her drug-induced abortion.

Shortly after swallowing the chemical abortion drug, RU 486, the 27-year-old single mom began posting live updates on Twitter and YouTube. More than 119,000 watched her first video.

“Um, yeah, I’m having an abortion right now. It’s not that bad. It’s not that scary,” she said, smiling broadly into the camera.

But Brad Mattes of Life Issues Institute noted “over the next few days, Angie’s updates increasingly detailed bleeding, dizziness and severe pain, along with an admission that she quickly exhausted her first supply of painkillers.”

“Though the Florida woman said she pursued abortion because of health risks, the irony is the abortion itself could have killed her and will likely leave long-term side effects,” he said. “RU 486 is far from safe. At least 12 women died after taking the human pesticide, and more than 600 adverse effects have been reported to the FDA, including heart attacks, hemorrhaging, and surgery to repair damage.”

“Many women also say the convenience of having an abortion in their own home is, in fact, a lonely experience, so perhaps we shouldn’t be surprised people like Angie are coping by turning to social media for support,” Mattes says.

Dave Andrusko of National Right to Life says the Live Twitter Abortion has made it so the pro-abortion side of the debate has “lost control of the narrative.”

He notes a Newsweek headline saying, “A Florida woman tweeting her abortion is trying to take the shame out of the procedure.”

Abortion is still “stigmatized,” and, worse yet, “pro-choice organizations lost control of the narrative,” he says of the article. They actually gave it away (to women who regret their abortions) by “ignoring the conversation about abortion, even if it was a difficult one to approach.”

Andrusko says the typical post-abortion narrative is not a good one.

“Why do so many women who have abortions either verbally express their profound regret or acknowledge that second hand by refusing to discuss what happened,” he asks.

“As anyone who has ever worked at a woman helping center/crisis pregnancy center will tell you, most women consider/complete an abortion out of sense of sheer desperation,” he says.

“Too often they have been abandoned by the men in their lives or are on the receiving end of incredible pressure to abort. When the “woman” is, in fact, a girl, she really needs a helping hand and expressions of support. Without that, it is easy to see why they believe abortion is their “only option,’” Andrusko notes.

And this is where the pro-abortion side comes up short, Andrusko explains.

“Pro-abortionists and their colleagues in the media subscribe to the theory if you drown the public in abortion stories, people will either become desensitized to the ugly brutality of abortion or become resigned to it as somehow “normal,’” he says. ”
You would think the undeniable pro-life shift in public opinion–not to mention the very negative response to PPFA’s tasteless “I had an abortion” Tee-shirt campaign–might have taught them something. But in fact they draw the opposite conclusion.”

He concludes: “The abortion set, never a slave to taste, discretion, or the cruelty of abortion, will never run out of new and imaginative ways to try to persuade the public that aborting/not aborting is no different than choosing Coke over Pepsi. But there is no more chance of that than Barack Obama telling the truth about abortion and health care “reform.”"

A 24 year old young woman just sent me this about men who pray!

March 6th, 2010

A young African American woman just sent me this… How appropriate… More evidence that America, and indeed the world needs to come back to God! We who love Jesus, and who are led by the Holy Spirit must pray that more will come forth and pray without fear or shame! The wind of transformation is blowing!

The Power of a Praying Man
Kevin Bond

Prayer has always been the backbone of the African American family. Historically, not many African American men were willing to admit the fact that they regularly practiced prayer at home. Even fewer could say that they learned from their fathers the essential discipline of prayer.

For too many men, their twisted quest to be perceived as macho put the woman on the front lines as the spiritual leader of the home. Women became the ones to pray and carry the children to church while men stayed home, watched the games or played golf with the boys. This relinquishment of responsibility was due in part to the misguided perception that men who are active in church are soft or sissified.

Well, I’m from a different generation and I’m proud to say that the opposite was true for me. Not only was my father a praying man, but my grandfather was also a man of much prayer. They both instilled in me the practice of prayer, and I’m now passing that same trait to my sons and daughters.

My father, Alex T. Bond Jr., was a man who taught his children at an early age the power of prayer. Not once do I remember sitting down to a family meal without first asking God to bless our food. Not only would Dad pray over the food, but he would also raise any family issue or crisis that may have been looming that day. This could be work or schoolrelated, social, or even political. This became my norm.

In fact, for many of my friends who came over to visit at meal times, it became their norm. We could always tell those who weren’t accustomed to this lifestyle of prayer because they would neither know Bible verses nor see the need to ask God’s blessing over the meal. In an effort to plant the seed of prayer in my friends’ lives, Dad would ask one of his children to lead prayer.

We gladly did so and were thrilled at the opportunity to share with our friends the practice of prayer that our parents had taught us. The most rewarding part was that we were also encouraged to practice this habit at school, as well as in our friends’ homes. But Dad’s prayer life extended far beyond the dinner table. As a child, I witnessed my father leading the church in prayer as a choir director, deacon, evangelist, and ultimately a pastor.

What a joy to know that the man people came to know and love publicly as Pastor Bond, was the same man I knew and loved privately as Dad. I am certain that Dad’s active prayer life played a vital role in his development as he progressed through the different stages of his ministry assignments.

You see, prayer to us was recognized as one’s communion with his Heavenly Father. For Christians, it’s the way we commune with our God. It’s the language through which we communicate with God. The Bible even states that Jesus communicated with God through prayer while He dwelt among us on earth. Prayer is one of the indispensable disciplines in the life of the Christian.

In fact, there’s a motto that we use that states, “No prayer, no power; little prayer, little power; much prayer, much power.” I feel blessed to have had a father who unashamedly prayed and taught our family to do likewise. I never saw my father hit my mother, spend the night in jail, drink, nor use drugs. I’d like to believe that it was because the prayer that he engaged in privately caused him to live openly as a righteous man.

That’s my personal experience with the praying man God chose to rear me. I have adopted many of his methods and continue to pass them on to the next generation!

Dad , God rest your soul! Thanks for teaching us to pray!

United Nations Report Warns of Dire Effects of Underpopulation, Fertility Decline

United Nations Report Warns of Dire Effects of Underpopulation, Fertility Decline

(Alveda’s recommended reference website)
http://www.demographicwinter.com/index.html

by Susan Yoshihara, Ph.D.
March 5, 2010

LifeNews.com Note: Susan Yoshihara, Ph.D. writes for the Catholic Family and Human Rights Institute. This article originally appeared in the pro-life group’s Friday Fax publication and is used with permission.

New York, NY (LifeNews.com/CFAM) — A recently-released United Nations (UN) report finds that the global trend of fertility decline and population aging will have devastating economic and societal effects on the developing world, particularly on women who are now targeted by UN agencies to further reduce fertility.

“World Population Ageing 2009” was published in December 2009 by the UN Population Division, a statistics research branch within the UN’s Department of Economic and Social Affairs (DESA).

Because fertility is decreasing in the developing world, there will be fewer and fewer workers to support aging citizens, the report found. The ratio of workers to older non-workers dropped from 12 to 9 between 1950 and 2009. By 2050, there will be only 4 workers supporting every retiree: “The reduction of potential support ratios has important implications for social security schemes, particularly for pay-as-you-go pension systems under which taxes on current workers pay the pensions of retirees.”

The effects of fertility decline and population aging will hit the developing world hardest, according to the report, because, “The pace of population ageing is faster in developing countries than in developed countries. Consequently, developing countries will have less time to adjust to the consequences of population ageing.” Furthermore, “ageing in developing countries is taking place at lower levels of socio-economic development than has been the case for developed countries.”

Evidence in the report shows that UN programs aimed at reducing fertility in the developed world will do the most harm to women who will have fewer children to support them in their old age. Since women live longer than men, they make up the majority of older persons.

This is compounded by the fact that “Older persons living alone are at greater risk of experiencing social isolation and economic deprivation and may therefore require special support.” Social support, however, is often unavailable in the developing world where women are least likely to have social security from the state. What recourse they have to social safety nets has been diminished by the global economic downturn, which “brought about sharp reductions in the value of pension funds in many countries in the world.”

Fertility reduction in the developing world is still pushed by UN agencies such as the UN Population Fund (UNFPA) and the World Health Organization, as well as non-governmental organizations such as International Planned Parenthood Federation and Women Deliver, a new organization that is garnering significant funding from developed countries to promote fertility control.

The report offered little evidence of a possible reversal of the global aging trend, stating that “Population ageing is unprecedented, a process without parallel in the history of humanity. Population ageing is pervasive since it is affecting nearly all the countries of the world. …and “Population ageing is enduring. …As long as old-age mortality continues to decline and fertility remains low, the proportion of older persons will continue to increase.”

The UN Population Division – an entity distinct from UNFPA – has traditionally been regarded as more objective and less agenda-driven than other UN agencies. In its most recent State of the World Population Report, UNFPA called for increased efforts to reduce fertility to combat climate change.

Abortion twitter: the rest of the story… she needs our prayers!

March 5th, 2010

From Brad Mattes of Life Issues Institute

Angie Jackson had an abortion last week. And broadcast it live online.
Angie said her goal in going public was to demystify abortion.
But over the next few days, Angie’s updates increasingly detailed bleeding, dizziness and severe pain, along with an admission that she quickly exhausted her first supply of painkillers. Though the Florida woman said she pursued abortion because of health risks, the irony is the abortion itself could have killed her and will likely leave long-term side effects. RU 486 is far from safe. At least 12 women died after taking the human pesticide, and more than 600 adverse effects have been reported to the FDA, including heart attacks, hemorrhaging, and surgery to repair damage.
Many women also say the convenience of having an abortion in their own home is, in fact, a lonely experience, so perhaps we shouldn’t be surprised people like Angie are coping by turning to social media for support. But it should shock our senses that the murder of preborn babies is shouted, even celebrated, from Internet rooftops — that a precious young life was nothing but a “squatter,” “parasite” and “tumor” to Angie, who at one point exploded: “I want to KILL THIS THING!”
This type of desensitizing can only be a desperate attempt to smother the truth, but I pray that Angie’s brazen words will be used for good, prompting others to think through the life issues and perhaps even speak out for the first time.
Her story is certainly a startling reminder that we must work harder than ever to surround young men and women with love and help when and where they need it most.
For Truth,

A last word for the BBC radio interview with Alveda and Sister Song

March 5th, 2010

http://www.bbc.co.uk/worldservice/news/2010/03/100305_georgia_abortion_controversyy.shtml

Ms. Ross, we are not blaming women. We are the post abortive women who are the victims of the targeted womblynching. This is an outrage. Women need love and support, not abortion. How can the dream survive if we murder our children? Yes, a woman has a right to choose what she does with her body. The baby is not her body. Where is the lawyer for the baby?

Congressman Stupak, Congressman Franks - Thank you!

March 5th, 2010

There are men and women in Congress who still represent the voice of the PEOPLE! The majority of Americans do not want abortion funding in any legislation, including a health care bill. Congressman Stupak gets it! So do many of his colleagues in Congress. Also, Congressman Franks is still taking heat for working to rescue babies from death by abortion due to race of sex selection. Friends, support of members in Congress who are fighting for those who know that LIFE is precious!
