ROME — Father Frank Pavone, who became known as the “Terri Schiavo Priest” for his role in trying to save the life of a Florida woman in 2005, has joined the fight to save a Canadian baby from a cruel death.

“If I have to fly from Rome to Canada to get Baby Joseph out of the hospital and back home where he belongs, I am ready to do that right now,” said Father Pavone, who has been attending meetings at the Vatican this week.

Father Pavone said Priests for Life will pay all expenses to bring Baby Joseph and his family to a hospital in the United States that would agree to perform the tracheotomy that would make it possible for him to go home.

“The parents of this precious boy are asking only to be allowed to bring Baby Joseph home, where he can die surrounded by those who love him,” said Father Pavone, national director of Priests for Life. “It’s beyond imagination that they would have to ask. This is not an issue that belongs in the court, or in the hands of his doctors. This is their son; he needs to be home with his family.

Doctors at Children’s Hospital in London, Ontario, who have been treating the boy for a fatal degenerative disorder want to remove the breathing tube that is keeping 13-month-old Joseph Maraachli alive. His parents, Moe Maraachli and Sana Nader, are fully aware that their son will not recover, but they want doctors to fit Joseph with a tracheotomy so they can bring him home as they did eight years ago with their baby daughter Zina, who had a similar condition and died six months after they brought her home. Instead of doing the tracheotomy, the doctors asked Ontario’s Consent and Capacity board for permission to remove the breathing tube. A judge last week agreed with the doctors’ position.

“This couple lost a child to this same disease eight years ago so they know exactly what they are dealing with, and what to expect as Baby Joseph reaches the end of his life. The small comfort they could take from Zina’s death was to know she died in peace surrounded by those whose lives she had touched in her own short life. They want the same for Baby Joseph.”

Father Pavone was with Terri Schiavo’s parents, brother and sister in her hospital room in the hours before the Florida woman died in 2005, two weeks after a court declared she could be denied food and water to bring on her death. Like the Maraachli family, the Schindlers wanted to bring Terri home.

“This same barbaric act is what the Canadian court is asking Baby Joseph’s family to endure,” Father Pavone said. “It is cruel, it is criminal and it cannot be allowed to happen again.”

National Black Prolife Coalition Mourns the Abortion Epidemic

Friday, February 25th, 2011

FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE

ATLANTA, GA-In New York, yesterday’s headlines called attention to a billboard that stirred debate on abortion. The billboard has been taken down in an attempt to silence that debate. Al Sharpton, an opportunist who continually defends the epidemic of abortion in the black community, was planning a protest of the billboard in an effort to keep the dark realities of abortion a secret.

“New York has been dubbed, by the media, the abortion capitol of the nation. Where else should the debate take place than in the city where more black babies are aborted than are born alive”, said Catherine Davis of the Black Prolife Coalition. Sixty percent of the abortions in New York City are performed on black women. “That is not an accident, and we believe Planned Parenthood Founder, Margaret Sanger’s ‘Negro Project’ is why,” Davis continued. “Black women have been targeted by the abortion industry since its inception, and New York provides the snapshot of what it looks like when that succeeds.”

“The time has come”, said Alveda King, Pastoral Associate for Priests for Life, “for New York City and America to come to grips with the reality that abortion is decimating people of color. Nationwide, the abortion rate in the black community is three times more their representation in the population. This debate cannot be silenced by the removal of a billboard. We will shout it from the rooftops if need be.”

On Monday, February 28, 2011 the National Black ProLife Coalition will hold a National Day of Mourning (www.blackprolifecoalition.org) to call attention to the genocidal impact of abortion on communities of color. “We will mourn the loss of possibility in our aborted children. We will mourn for the women who have lost their lives or have been maimed at the abortionist’s hand,” said Arnold Culbreath of Protecting Black Life.

“And when the mourning is completed, we will continue to help women in New York City and across America to have access to free services that will help them keep and care for their children”, said Dean Nelson, Vice President of Underserved Outreach for CareNet, the nation’s largest network of Pregnancy Care Centers. The National Black Prolife Coalition, CareNet, EMC Pregnancy Centers and local leaders are fighting to defeat New York City Council Bill #371 that aims to shut down all Pregnancy Care Centers in the city.

Dr. Alveda King Blasts Billboard Censorship

New York–Dr. Alveda King, director of African-American Outreach for Priests for Life, released the following statement today regarding the billboard in Manhattan that proclaims “The most dangerous place for an African-American is in the womb.” The billboard was taken down after pressure from local politicians and neighborhood residents.

“It is an outrageous act of censorship that this billboard was taken down,” Dr King said. “This billboard should be posted in every city of the country. And it should provoke outrage in the African-American community—not because it is racist, but because of the truth it reveals; the truth that is being kept from the African-American community.

“Black people in New York and all over the country should be outraged at the numbers of black babies we lose every single day to abortion. An astonishing 60 percent of African-American pregnancies in the five boroughs of New York City end in abortion. That’s unfathomable!

“Some people are angry about the billboard, but that anger is misplaced. We should all be upset and heartbroken that so many African-American women have bought into the lie that abortion will solve their problems. Legal abortion has been with us for 38 years, and the problems facing the African-American community have not gone away.”

Dr. King concluded: “The message of this billboard is totally accurate. The most dangerous place for an African-American is in the womb! It’s a travesty of justice that it is being taken down.”

Planned Parenthoods Own Report Shows They Are Increasing Their Abortion Numbers While Reducing Other Services To Women

Thursday, February 24th, 2011

As reported by LifeNews.com, and as evident by Planned Parenthood’s own report, Planned Parenthood reported having performed more abortions in 2009 than in any previous year while at the same time reducing other non-abortion health services. This news should not be shocking to anyone since this supposed non-profit company is not about helping women with their health needs as they profess but is actually about increasing the number of abortions and thus making more money.

Ex-director of Planned Parenthood, Abby Johnson, now turned pro-life activist, stated this very point in her newly released book, unPLANNED. She said that when she first got involved with Planned Parenthood she did so to help women and was told that they wanted to make abortions rare.. But as the moved up with the company she realized that they just wanted increase the number of abortions and in fact was directed by her supervisor to do just that. This along with other factors is what led her to leave her job. Read the book for the whole story.

With the Senate now poised to take a vote on the Pence Amendment, I urge everyone to contact your Senators and insist that they support the amendment to de-fund Planned Parenthood and stop using your tax dollars to fund the killing of babies.

Silent No More About Planned Parenthood

Thursday, February 24th, 2011

FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE

ROME – While having various meetings at the Vatican regarding the pro-life movement, Father Frank Pavone, National Director of Priests for Life, announced that the women and men of the Silent No More Awareness Campaign (a joint project of Priests for Life and Anglicans for Life) are raising their voices about their experiences at Planned Parenthood as the U.S. Senate prepares for its vote on whether to defund the world’s largest abortion business.

At www.SilentNoMoreAwareness.org/plannedparenthood, members of the Campaign are sharing their painful experiences, providing more firsthand evidence that Planned Parenthood does not serve the needs of women and has no respect for the law.

For instance, Sherry Coleman Wright states,

“I was 17 years old – the lady at the Planned Parenthood clinic in Council Bluffs, Iowa told me I could go to Women’s Services clinic in Omaha, Nebraska, to get the procedure. My boyfriend at the time was 23 or 24 and I was told not to mention that or he would get into trouble. I don’t feel like they really had my best interest in mind. From what I understand, they still give young girls the same advice. I was devastated by that abortion and my life spiraled downward.”

Christy Annison tells us,

“I had a botched abortion in Atlanta’s Planned Parenthood abortion clinic. The doctor left the dead fetus inside and I needed immediate medical attention. For the health of women, please defund Planned Parenthood.”

The Campaign is providing these and numerous other testimonies to the U.S. Senate in the days ahead, and is urging citizens, as they communicate with their Senators, to share with them the voices of experience found at www.SilentNoMoreAwareness.org/testimonies.

Founded in 2003 by Janet Morana, executive director of Priests for Life, and Georgette Forney, president of Anglicans for Life, the Silent No More Awareness Campaign has become an integral part of the March for Life, which every January marks the anniversary of the 1973 Roe vs. Wade decision. Women and men who have been harmed by their abortion experiences also share their testimony at events across the country and throughout the year.

Beginning March 1, members of the Campaign will take to the streets in front of the Senate offices in Washington, holding their signs saying, “I Regret My Abortion.”

To arrange an interview with Father Pavone, Mrs. Morana or Mrs. Forney, please call Dan Matejek at 888-735-3448, ext. 251, or email him at director@priestsforlife.org.

Running Scared

Wednesday, February 23rd, 2011

The abortion industry is beginning to get desperate. With the recent House vote in favor of defunding Planned Parenthood, they are pulling out all the stops and reaching for straws in order to keep their baby-killing money-making machine running. An email sent from Planned Parenthood Action Fund’s President, Cecile Richards pleads with supporters, not once but five times, to make emergency donations because the next ten days could decide the future of the company. In the email, she states, “Over the next 10 days, we will make sure that every single senator knows just how critical Planned Parenthood health centers are to three million women every year. And we will make sure that every single senator sees the faces of the one in five women who have been to a Planned Parenthood health center in their lifetime. That’s millions of people, standing as one.“ Never in the email did she ask their supporters to contact their Senators, just send money.

A website that has been brought to our attention is Fund Abortion Now. The website is a resource for women to get financial help paying for an abortion. They solicit those with money to help pay for abortions when a woman doesn’t have the money to pay for it. Really sad. Many women seeking abortions are doing so because of financial woes over how they would be able to take care of a baby financially as with the couple in the much publicized MTV reality show, No Easy Decision. Another example is Congresswoman Gwen Moore who said that a baby would be better off dead than to have to eat ramen noodles. It is puzzling to me why anyone would be so invested in someone else killing their child that they would be willing to donate money to make it a reality. As I said before, it’s just plain sad.

On their website, they help women/girls to find money in places to abort their babies. This same money could be used to support life instead of paying for an abortion. The list is extremely long. Someone really put a lot of thought into how someone may find the money to pay for an abortion. Even to the point of taking out a loan, selling your car, sell your furniture, television, or dropping classes in college and getting partial tuition refund. These same tactics can also be used to save that life. Why don’t they mention that? Oh yeah, they wouldn’t make any money then.

Why can’t people see how destructive abortion is? What it does to people and their thinking? What it will do to their health? What it will do to them psychologically?

There are Crisis Pregnancy Centers that can help with resources and life-affirming alternatives to abortion. Just call 1-800-395-HELP (4357).

Silent No More Women and Men to Senate: Listen to our Voices, and De-Fund Planned Parenthood!

Tuesday, February 22nd, 2011

FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE
February 21, 2011

Contact: Dan Matejek
718-980-4400, ext. 251

The international Silent No More Awareness Campaign, a joint project of Priests for Life and Anglicans for Life, called upon the United States Senate to follow the example of the House of Representatives and deny funding to Planned Parenthood.

“Experience trumps rhetoric,” said co-founder Janet Morana, Executive Director of Priests for Life. “It’s time to bring to the Senate the experience of the thousands of campaign members who have lost children to abortion. Funds to Planned Parenthood are funds that result in devastating the lives of untold women and men. The members of the US Senate would benefit from listening to and reading the testimonies of these individuals.”

The Campaign has announced that beginning March 1, its members will be present outside the Senate office buildings in Washington, D.C., holding signs saying, “I Regret My Abortion.”

“As someone who has suffered from an abortion, I can say that the opportunity to speak in this way is profoundly meaningful to these women,” said co-founder Georgette Forney, President of Anglicans for Life. “We pray that it will likewise be meaningful to the Senators who hear them.”

The Campaign encourages pro-life activists to read and spread the testimonies, available here.

Planned Parenthood Manipulates Speier and Moore –A shame and outrageous disgrace say NBPC leaders

Tuesday, February 22nd, 2011

FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE
February 21, 2011

Catherine Davis

Atlanta, GA – “I have deep sympathy for and know women who have suffered from the cervical ectopic pregnancy that Congresswomen Speier spoke of when debating taxpayer funding of Planned Parenthood,” said Dr. Alveda King, Pastoral Associate with Priests for Life and Founder of King for America. “What is even more tragic is when we don’t let nature take its course, and the baby is brutally and violently ripped from the mother’s body, in a very invasive and generally unnecessary abortion procedure. Not only is the baby deprived of its life, but the mother and family are deprived of the opportunity to bond and grieve the loss of the baby.”

“There is no dignity in this or any type of abortion, for the woman or the baby. Abortion is a very cold clinical procedure, always”, said the Silent No More Awareness spokesperson who supports the recent PPH expose by Lila Rose at Live Action and Glenn Beck. “Planned Parenthood is capitalizing on Congresswoman Speier’s story in an effort to garner support for continued abortion funding. I just pray that this latest intimidation tactic doesn’t silence the voice of compassion from our prolife leaders in Congress, men and women alike. ” she concluded.

Added to the Speier’s controversy, is the jumping on the ‘keep giving Planned Parenthood taxpayer money ’ bandwagon by Congresswoman Gwen Moore. “Congresswoman Moore is a poster child for the truth that financial circumstances are temporary and can be changed overnight. Her ability to stand in the august chambers of the United States Congress demonstrates that abortion is not the answer to a temporary economic situation. I am outraged that she wants to continue to fund Planned Parenthood, the world’s largest abortion provider, so that they can keep killing black babies,” said Catherine Davis of Network of Politically Active Christians.

Day Gardner, Founder of the National Black Prolife Union added: “So, what you are implying is–it’s better to fund an organization whose core business value includes the killing off of our children by abortion rather than allowing the children to ‘suffer’ through the enjoyment of eating Ramen noodles? Such sentiments are shameful, and a disgrace.”

King, Davis and Gardner are part of National Black ProLife Coalition, a group of African American leaders who recently commended prolife members of Congress for voting for the Pence Amendment which is a stop gap for abortion in our nation.

Black Prolife Leaders to Congress: Thank you!

Monday, February 21st, 2011

FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE
February 21, 2011

CONTACT: Catherine Davis
888.619.6272

The National Black ProLife Coalition applauds the leadership of Representative Mike Pence and the House of Representatives for their votes to defund Planned Parenthood–the nation’s largest abortion provider. This step is a major milestone in slowing down the unfettered access Planned Parenthood has had to communities of color.

The NBPC also recognizes and applauds the courage of Congressman Paul Broun for championing the cause of black women, the group most targeted by Planned Parenthood and its allies. “Under the guise of family planning, black babies have been aborted at 5x the rate of whites, yet Planned Parenthood clamors for more, wanting taxpayer dollars to continue funding their genocidal agenda”, said Arnold Culbreath of Protecting Black Life. “As they rush to turn 100% of their clinics into abortion mills and build larger facilities in urban areas where blacks reside, it is clear they are carrying out their founder’s Negro Project, designed to control black births.”

“I am outraged by the Black Congressional Caucus’ failure to carry this issue through the corridors of the Congress”, said Catherine Davis of the Network of Politically Active Christians. All across America the number of abortions performed on black women is nearly 3 times their representation in the population. “Shame on Gwen Moore for declaring a baby is better off dead than eating Ramen noodles. Dead children cannot help the black family grow and thrive,” Davis said.

Weary of Planned Parenthood’s guise of providing reproductive aid to the poor and blacks, Walter Hoye of the Issues4Life Foundation said. “Let’s be clear. Funding Planned Parenthood with U.S. taxpayer dollars is equivalent to justifying the use of tax dollars to help the Ku Klux Klan buy rope so they can secure their victims in the backs of their wagons.”

Alveda King, founder of King for America and Pastoral Associate for Priests for Life agreed. “Abortion groups across the nation have billed themselves as champions of women’s rights. Yet these same advocates repeatedly fail to warn women about clinics that maim and harm such as was found in Gosnell’s ‘house of horrors’ in Philadelphia. Planned Parenthood clinics are willing to counsel ‘pimps and sex traffickers’ on how to avoid state laws. Friday’s House vote ensures our hard-earned tax dollars will not continue funding the abortion industry’s flagrant disregard for the safety of women and children.”

Priests for Life leader to Senate: No More Money for the Most Corrupt Organization in America!

Monday, February 21st, 2011

STATEN ISLAND, NY – Father Frank Pavone, national director of Priests for Life, issued the following statement following the Feb. 18 House vote to defund Planned Parenthood.

“It usually takes the law a while to catch up with reality. Since 1991, Priests for Life has been sounding the alarm that the entire abortion industry, including but not limited to Planned Parenthood, is full of lies, corruption, and abuse. It is nothing short of a criminal conspiracy. Yet even if that were not true, no government funds should be used for the killing of children.

“Now that the House of Representatives has voted to defund Planned Parenthood, it is the Senate’s turn to do the same. It is time for the people to make history and defy the notion that they cannot get the Senate to defund Planned Parenthood. It is time for our citizens to speak with an unprecedented, unified, and loud voice: No more money to the most corrupt organization in America!”
