An Arizona college student who stopped in at her workplace wearing a pro-life t-shirt quit her job rather than obey a supervisor who ordered her to turn the “Pray to End Abortion” shirt inside out.

Renise Rodriguez, 21-year-old religious studies major at the University of Arizona, worked as a Girl Experience Associate for the Girl Scouts of Southern Arizona in Tucson. When she went to her office on Jan. 3 during her off-duty hours to prepare materials for a meeting, she was told twice by a supervisor that if she planned to stay in the office, or attend a troop meeting, she would have to turn her shirt inside out.

“I started to get emotional because of the way I was treated so I left without preparing for the meeting and told my co-worker that she would have to get the stuff together,” Miss Rodriguez said. “As I was driving out, I called a friend crying and told her the story. I was so shocked at the way I was treated. After contemplating it for the rest of that day, I decided to write my letter of resignation.”

Her letter did not specify her reason for resigning, but she plans to discuss it with another supervisor when she does her formal exit interview.

“It is the courage and conviction of young people like Renise that gives us hope that we are closer than ever to winning this battle and bringing an end to child killing in America,” said Bryan Kemper, Director of Youth Outreach for Priests for Life. “Priests for Life is committed to educating, activating and equipping young people to be a voice for life and young heroes like Renise prove this generation is a pro-life generation.”

Father Frank Pavone, National Director of Priests for Life, applauded the young woman.

“What does the pro-life movement need the most right now? It is not large numbers of people who believe abortion is wrong; it is a small, courageous band of people who are willing to risk and sacrifice everything to end abortion,” he said. “Renise is exactly that kind of person, who has not only the right attitude about abortion, but the passion it takes to make the protection of the unborn our number one priority! Our Youth Outreach, and all the branches of our Priests for Life/Gospel of Life Ministry, will continue to instill this spirit in those we serve.”

Noting the shirt Renise was wearing was designed by Stand True Ministry, a pro-life youth organization he founded, Kemper said, “We will be sending her several more of our pro-life shirts to help her stand up and be a voice wherever she is.”

Priests for Life Announces Four-Pronged Attack on Abortion Industry in 2012

Monday, January 9th, 2012

Amarillo, TX — Fr. Frank Pavone, National Director of Priests for Life, revealed plans today to target the abortion industry in 2012 that he is confident will close many abortion mills and place many abortionists in jail.

“The approach,” Fr. Pavone explained, “is simple: a) uncover the ways abortionists break the law and get them punished for it; b) reveal the nature of the abortion procedure itself; c) show the harm abortion does to the very people the abortion industry claims to serve, and d) pray more intensely than ever for abortion to end.”

“Building on the work done by many other groups with whom we collaborate, we will begin this month to accelerate the investigation of abortion clinics, which break laws left and right. We will bring special attention to the ten abortionists in Texas who have to answer to the Texas Medical Board for numerous violations, and will see to it that they are held accountable,” Fr. Pavone explained.

“As I have said since I began my work with Priests for Life in 1993, our job is to exploit the weaknesses of the abortion industry, which is collapsing under its own weight. The evil it does cannot withstand the light of human conscience.”

In the coming weeks, Priests for Life will provide information to Churches across America, to pro-life groups, media outlets, and to the general public regarding the details of this four-pronged strategy. “We will also communicate to prison chaplains a simple message: get ready to see a lot more abortionists in the jail cells.”

Parents Should Protect Their Children, Not Hurt Them

Thursday, January 5th, 2012

Behold, children are a gift of the LORD, The fruit of the womb is a reward. Psalm 127:3

It’s such a pity when a 14 year old teenager has more respect for life that the parents who gave birth to her. That’s the case in Corpus Christi, TX where the parents of a 14 year old teen are trying to force their daughter to have an abortion. Their daughter is about two months pregnant and wants to have her baby. The family of this brave teenager “allegedly tried to force her to have an abortion last month” as reported by KIII News.

Stephen Casey, an attorney with Texas Center for Defense of Life (TCDL), was in court again yesterday to try and get a temporary restraining order (TRO) which was issued last month extended through her pregnancy. That request was denied but the TRO was extended another 15 days and appointed a guardian ad litem, a family attorney for the girl, to help her make decisions in her best interest.

My first thought when I read this story is that these parents have no idea what they will do to their daughter and grandchild if they force her to have an abortion.

Abortion has been linked to many physical problems including complications from the abortion procedure, breast cancer, and even death. Abortions has also been linked to psychological problems like depression, relationship problems, suicidal ideation, suicide attempts, drug and alcohol abuse and many others.

If the parents of this 14 year old visited sites like Priests for Life, Silent No More Awareness and Rachel’s Vineyard and did a little investigative work, they would see that any perceived problems they feel their daughter would have be carrying the baby to term would be far outweighed by the harm and impact that an abortion can have on the rest of her life.

If they feel that their daughter is too young to care for the child they would be much better off supporting her in carrying the baby to term and encouraging her to put the baby up for adoption.

What I think gets lost in the abortion debate is that life is a gift from God. When we reject that gift, we are also rejecting the giver, God. When we do that, nothing good can come of it. On the other hand, if we accept the gift and thank God for that gift, He will bless us. If we make prayerful decisions that honor God, then our decisions will receive His blessings and we cannot go wrong, whether we decide to keep the baby or offer it up to another loving family.

Parents should protect their children, born and unborn. That is what this young mother is trying to do, protect her child. Mary, the Virgin Mother was only fourteen when she conceived Jesus and that turned out GREAT! What if her parents had forced her to get rid of her child? No salvation, no redemption.

New Hearing Set for Accused Murderer Riley; Brigham Will Not Fight Extradition

Wednesday, January 4th, 2012

Written by Operation Rescue

Salt Lake City, UT – Accused murderer Nicola Riley made a brief court appearance in Salt Lake City, Utah, yesterday, her first one since being arrested on a fugitive warrant issued by Maryland authorities after a grand jury issued murder indictments for her and her associate Steven Chase Brigham.

Riley’s hearing was continued until January 9 when her attorney is expected to ask for bail and extradition back to Maryland to face charges will be considered. She is currently being held without bail. Her attorneys have stated that they want her released on bail so she can self-surrender to authorities in Maryland.

“Based on her history of dishonesty and criminal conduct, it would be unwise to trust Riley to turn herself in,” said Operation Rescue President Troy Newman. “She is being charged with murder, not jaywalking. Release on bail is inappropriate.”

Riley served three years in a Federal Military Prison at Ft. Leavenworth in Kansas after being convicted of felonies related to credit card and identity theft. She lied about her charges and incarceration to medical board authorities in three states in order to gain licensure. Operation Rescue discovered the untruths and reported her to the authorities. Her licenses have since been surrendered or restricted.

Meanwhile, the Baltimore Sun has reported that Brigham, who is being held on $3 million bail in the Camden County Jail in New Jersey, is not expected to fight extradition. His hearing is scheduled for January 5.

Brigham was charged with five counts of first-degree murder and five counts of second-degree murder. Riley was charged with one count of first-degree murder and one count of second-degree murder. The charges are the result of a Grand Jury investigation. Additionally, Brigham and Riley were each charged with one count of conspiracy to commit murder. A grand jury investigated the case for 16 months before issuing the indictments.

Additional details of the case are expected to be released at the time Brigham and Riley are arraigned and the court records unsealed.

Silent No More Awareness Campaign Launches New Website

Tuesday, January 3rd, 2012

FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE
Jan. 3, 2012

The Silent No More Awareness Campaign today unveiled a new website designed to make its three-fold mission immediately understandable and accessible.

The top of the page at www.SilentNoMoreAwareness.org features buttons for women who are pregnant and need help, for those who are suffering from the pain of a past abortion and need healing, and for those who want to become more involved in reaching out to pregnant women and mothers and fathers who have experienced abortion.

“When we launched our first site in 2003, we wanted to make sure it had all the information we wanted to get out,” said Georgette Forney, co-founder of Silent No More and president of Anglicans for Life. “The new site makes sure we are reaching all the people we want to share that information with. The connection with those we’re trying to reach is more obvious.”

Janet Morana, co-founder of Silent No More and executive director of Priests for Life, said the updated look of the new site helps make it much more user friendly.

“It allows visitors to clearly and quickly get to wherever they want to go,” Mrs. Morana said.

The testimonies of women and men who regret their past abortions have always been a popular draw for site visitors, and are still readily accessible. A new “Featured Story of the Day,” brings visitors to the testimony section, which also can be accessed from the “Stories” button at the top of the page.

“The voices of the men and women who have had abortions, and have come to regret it, are the most powerful weapons we have in our fight to end abortion,” said Father Frank Pavone, pastoral director of the Silent No More Awareness Campaign and National Director of Priests for Life.

Proof of the Silent No More web site’s power came with a phone call to the campaign office the day before New Year’s Eve. Mrs. Forney answered a call from a mother of three who said she had an appointment to abort her fourth child the following day. After reading some of the testimonies, she realized “She didn’t want to have the regret these women suffer from. And she was concerned that, although she is always able to forgive others, she might not ever be able to forgive herself.”

By the end of their conversation, the woman realized she didn’t need to “depend on abortion” to solve the challenges the unplanned pregnancy presented. She told Mrs. Forney she was canceling her appointment.

“As we unveil this website, we invite all groups and Churches to use it as a key resource for help after abortion and for strength to those who might otherwise make that mistake,” Father Pavone said.

Visit the new site at www.SilentNoMoreAwareness.org. To reach the office by phone, call 1-800-707-6635 or 1-888-735-3448.

Since the launch of the Silent No More Awareness Campaign in 2003, 4,845 women and men have shared their testimonies publicly at over 865 gatherings in 48 states and 10 countries where more than 110,830 attendees have heard the truth about abortion’s negative aftereffects. More than 10,100 people representing 57 countries are registered to be Silent No More. Raising awareness about the hurtful aftermath of abortion and the help that is available to cope with the pain are two of the Campaign’s goals. The Campaign has over 1,300 testimonies posted here, with over 120 that are shared via video!
