SPACER
In the Catholic Tradition, a Holy Day of Obligation is a very important day; so important that no attending mass on a Holy Day of Obligation is a very serious sin. Although not Catholic, the 40 Days till MLK 2013: The Holy Day of Inauguration is a very important time of prayer, fasting and repentence.

1. The True Light is Already Shining – 1 John 2:8
2. “Be not overcome with evil; rather overcome evil with good.” Romans 12:21
3. “Some trust in chariots and some in horses, but we trust in the name of the LORD our God”. Psalm 20:7

Dear Friends, This announcement regarding the Holy Day of Inauguration came to me this week, right while I am currently meditating on why people were so saddened by the November 2012 elections. Our hope comes from God and not horses and chariots or politicians or judges or presidents. So many scriptures keep jumping out while I’m reading and studying and seeking God for “what’s next?” Admittedly, the President of the United States is on a slippery slope, and a majority of voters agreed enough with his agenda to re-elect him and are seemingly sliding along the slope with him in some sort of weird bliss. Doesn’t this mean that those who voted for the President are also responsible for the sorry state that we are in? He is the political leader of this nation, and a majority seems to have voted for him. Yet God is still our refuge and our strength, and a very present help in trouble.

Some of us are groaning and reeling; yet there are many who are turning with greater commitment to 2 Chronicles 7:14, thank goodness. Let’s hate the source of the evil, the devil that is, and not hate and war with each other.

We must continue to pray and seek the Lord. Interestingly enough, the Martin Luther King, Jr. Holiday and the Inauguration of the President are on the same day. Again, we must be praying and seeking the Lord according to 2 Chronicles 7:14.

Actually, January 21, 2013 is another pivotal day in our lives. It is the day of the Birthday Celebration Observance of my uncle, Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr.; the day before the nefarious 40 year observance of Roe vs. Wade which has allowed for the murder of over 50 million human babies, and President Obama will be sworn in for the second time that day. Let us all pray for mercy, for the dregs of judgment are very bitter. Our country is being judged as are we. Let us pray and ask for forgiveness and forgive each other and just move ahead expecting our God to deliver us!

Want to be blessed during these monumental and tumultuous times? Do something good for someone. Send some Bibles to people who need them. Take back Christmas by singing Christ affirming carols at unexpected places. Help someone have Christmas whose outlook is bleak right now. Read them the Bible accounts of the miracle of Jesus when you deliver their gifts.

Look up and look ahead to God, for surely He alone is able to deliver us!

STATEN ISLAND, NY — Students for Life of America announced today that it will honor Father Frank Pavone, National Director of Priests for Life, with its 2013 Defender of Life award.

The award will be bestowed Jan. 26 during SFLA’s annual National Youth Conference in Bethesda, Md.

“Throughout Father Frank’s ministry he has been a leader, a visionary, and a courageously outspoken voice for the preborn,” the organization said in a statement announcing the award. “His ground-breaking work exposing the true horrors of abortion through images of the aborted child, his countless hours standing and praying outside of abortion facilities offering women in crisis real help, and his great compassion for the women and men left with the heartache of abortion have inspired a generation to enter into the pro-life movement.”

Father Pavone has been the National Director of Priests for Life since 1993. He is also the president of the National Pro-Life Religious Council. The New York native was ordained by Cardinal John J. O’Connor in 1988. After serving five years in parish ministry, the Cardinal released him to do pro-life ministry full-time. He has been involved in the pro-life movement since he was a teenager and attended his first March for Life in D.C.

“I am so honored and so happy to be receiving this award,” Father Pavone said. “We know that youth are not only the future of the pro-life movement, they are vital to its work right now. I have met so many of the Students for Life across America, and they inspire me! Priests for Life and our Youth Outreach Director Bryan Kemper have been working closely with Students for Life and we expect this partnership to grow and flourish.”

New Women’s Health Video

Tuesday, December 11th, 2012

Hello friends, please check out my new video at www.africanamericanoutreach.com (on right of the page) on women’s health issues. Also check out the head of Planned Parenthood asking members of Congress to return to their eugenics roots HERE. Finally, please consider how Planned Parenthood mounted a very successful campaign during the elections as reported by the Washington Post. They are very bold in presenting their platforms. We should be so bold. Actually, we should be MORE BOLD!

A very good prolife friend recently observed that in 2012 “we were no match for the synergy created by a president, political party, and abortion groups working in tandem.” Let’s change the game. Watch out for 2013. THE GAME WILL BE ADVANCED!

Let’s be the real voice for women’s health in 2013! Janet Morana is working on a new book and you won’t want to miss this eye opener! Also, if you haven’t read LIFE AT ALL COSTS, put it on a serious to do list for early 2013.

Four Earth Departures During this Holiday Season – I Remember Each Departed Loved One with Tears and Smiles

Mary Ellen Strong: A Mentor and a Friend, Rest in peace dear sister

This holiday season has been especially touching for me. My Aunt Coretta’s brother, Rev. Obie Scott died, and we attended his funeral the day after Thanksgiving. Then I received an email that a dear neighbor of ours had passed. The funeral was a few days ago. Then, I received a call that my mentor was in hospice, and was told to “get ready.” Then a cherished member of my home church died. Four funerals in close proximity, and they were all real honest to goodness home goings!

I’m sharing a news article regarding my mentor, Dr. Mary Ellen Strong. Her first memorial service was last week, the second is this coming weekend.

Mary Ellen Strong, a pioneer in black media and marketing in Milwaukee and Chicago, died Tuesday, November 27, 2012 of heart failure at her California home. She was 91.

Strong had lived in California for several years, where she had worked with various ministries, said her son, Jerrel Jones.

“She was the first in so many things,” he said. “She did have the pioneering spirit.”

Her long and varied career included politics, publishing and marketing. It began with the annual Wisconsin Negro Business directory in 1949.

“It started many things, and was the beginning of my known work,” she said in 1956, when she made an unsuccessful bid for 6th district alderman. In a feature story at the time, she said, “Milwaukee has a great soul. I want to give it body. I think this is the most strategic ward in Milwaukee. I’m in love with it.” It was the same year that Vel Phillips ran for an aldermanic seat and became the first black and the first woman elected to Milwaukee’s Common Council.

Around the same time, Strong founded the Milwaukee Defender, a weekly newspaper in Milwaukee billed as “Wisconsin’s only negro news of and by negroes.” It published until 1961.

“She was a spirit in terms of business and making things happen in Milwaukee,” said Clayborn Benson, founder and director of the Wisconsin Black Historical Society.

Benson called the business directories she produced a comprehensive look at Milwaukee’s black community at the time, covering businesses as well as clubs, civic and social organizations and more. It featured ads for black businesses and businesses that were friendly to blacks, including a national listing of hotels where blacks could “vacation without humiliation,” according to a Wisconsin Historical Society archive listing. The directory published until 1961.

In 1963, Strong started the Milwaukee Courier, part of the Courier chain of newspapers, said her son, who now runs the paper.

In 1972, Courier Communications Corp. bought WNOV, the first black-owned radio station in Wisconsin, Jones said.

By the mid-1960s, Strong had moved to Chicago and was publisher of Black Family magazine in Chicago, had founded her own public relations, marketing and research firm and was director of the marketing and research division of the Chicago Courier.

She also was founder and president of Welcome New Neighbor Service Inc., a nationwide marketing company aimed at black consumers, and worked as a marketing and advertising consultant.

One of eight children, Strong moved to Milwaukee with her family a short time after she was born in Gary, Ind. Her father died when she was young. She attended Milwaukee Public Schools and was the first black person to attend what was then the Milwaukee Business University, according to the 1956 story on her aldermanic bid. She took vocational school classes in the evening, studying everything from speed reading to millinery and real estate law.

The latter would come in handy when she bought a plot of land in Chicago and announced plans to build “a high rise building that will stand tall in the second largest Negro market in America,” according to a 1966 Milwaukee Journal story on her life in Chicago.
She sold the building when she moved to Atlanta, where she became involved in ministry work, her son said.
Her nephew, Monty Shadd, remembers her as “always very busy, always on the go.”

He added, “She was an adventurer. She was a pacesetter, a ground breaker – not only assertive but aggressive. What she did was so radical in some cases. She knew what she wanted, and she went after it.”

Strong was married four times. Her marriage to Jesse Jones ended in divorce, as did her marriage to Lawrence Shadd. In 1970, she married attorney James Strong, who had been a U.S. diplomat to Gambia and worked as a marketing executive with Kellogg Corp. After his death, she married Andrew Gaines of Atlanta, the father and manager of the late singer Donna Summer. He died about five years ago.

For more than 25 years, Strong was involved with ministries – including Abundant Living Family Church in California, Crenshaw Christian Center in Los Angeles, Word of Faith in Detroit and Nashville, Believers Bible Christian Church in Atlanta and others.
Her son said he read a quotation recently that reminded him of his mother. It began, “Work for a cause, not for applause,” he said.
“That’s the way she was. When she left Milwaukee, believe me, Milwaukee had a void.”

Besides her son Jerrel Jones, she is survived by a daughter, Carolyn Wright; two brothers, Leonard Brady of Milwaukee and Walton Brady of El Paso, Texas; 12 grandchildren; and six great-grandchildren.

National Call to Action!!!

Saturday, December 1st, 2012

A message from my good friend, Day Gardner

“Take Back Christmas” Project – Even though Mary became an un-wed mother in a very difficult time, God had specific plans for her baby—and He still has specific plans for each and every baby. Therefore, we are organizing participation of a thousand (or more) churches across the Nation to be very deliberate in holding biblical events this coming and every Christmas with heavy focus on the birth of Jesus celebrations.

We are also asking for each church to organize events in public areas such as traditional Christmas caroling hailing the birth of Jesus. We are also providing and producing support pieces on Facebook, Twitter, Email and YouTube videos.

Our hope is less Santa, Frosty and Rudolph—More Jesus!

Alveda and I — after this depressing election season felt it would be great to do something really uplifting and something ALL Christians can support!

Are you interested in helping us take back CHRISTmas?

Part One:
“Flash Mob” Christmas Caroling

We are planning “flash mob (FM) Christmas caroling”. Here’s the thing…songs only about Jesus–NO Frosty, NO Rudolph, NO Santa and NO Christmas tree or chestnut songs.

We are asking the “FM” to sing 10 songs – One verse only “always beginning” with O Come All Ye Faithful ( as a call to action)—”always ending” with Silent Night (to signify the end). (Approx time: 15-20 minutes)

Let’s make it fun!

Ask everyone to wear something red (ex:) a red coat or hat or scarf or gloves–or just carry a red bag!!!

Good thing is — no rehearsals needed!!!
No baby sitters needed!!! Bring the kids!!!

We will provide an email list of ten songs with the words included to the first verse of each song.

We are hoping churches, individuals, family and friends will do one or more of these in different locations in the week leading up to Christmas.

We have other ideas and would like to hear yours–so, are you with us???!!

Merry CHRISTmas!!!!
Day and Alveda

Wake Up Church

Friday, November 30th, 2012

Shame on Jamie. And shame on all the people that listened on, stood up, clapped and cheered his remarks. And more shame on Christian preachers who are still celebrating President Obama’s re-election. I pray that someone realizes that babies civil rights and natural life, marriage and family are under attack. Time to pray for revival and repentance.

At the 2012 Soul Train Awards on November 25 Jamie Foxx said this: “First of all, giving honor to God and our lord and savior Barack Obama. Barack Obama.”

This startling statement by Mr. Foxx reflects a genuinely sad sentiment of too many misguided voters, of all ethnic and denominational persuasions. Remember that all classes of people reelected Mr. Obama.

When I tell people that they don’t need to worship President Obama they say, “I’m not worshiping President Obama.”

But then when we hear Jamie Foxx on the Soul Train Awards and the people cheering, you have to wonder.

So this is outrageous; people worshiping President Obama. And I know people do that. With regards to my Uncle Martin I’ve always said, “Please do not worship Martin Luther King, Jr. When you go to that Memorial, thank God that He gave us such a man of God who was not perfect but served a perfect God and He loved you and tried to communicate that as best as he could.” Worship God not the man.

So I just think it’s outrageous. People do worship President Obama. Oh my God! Forgive us Father!

Pray for preachers and people alike. This is a perfect occasion for preachers to take exception and teach the people who Jesus Christ is.

It’s a sin and a shame for Christian preachers to let the comedians preach blasphemy while the Church looks on from the sidelines.

We, the Church, need to wake up.

Wake up preachers! Wake up Church!

A Can of Worms: Here She Goes Again! Part 2

Wednesday, November 28th, 2012

As promised, here is the Creation Parable for yesterday’s blog. To learn more please get my book Who We Are In Christ Jesus.

A Creation Parable by Alveda King, © 2009

I emerged from the womb of an ancient goddess, known by many as Eve. Her husband Adam was also a god favored by the Almighty Creator. Adam and Eve were the first power couple known to human kind. Adam walked with Great Creator I AM in the Garden of the Great Country of Eden during the cool of the day.

Adam’s intellect was so superior that he was able to name all the plants and animals that inhabited Adam’s palatial mansion, called Earth. Mother or Planet Earth was uniquely beautiful in those days. The climate and atmosphere were perfect, ripe for procreative abundance. Great Creator I AM was so pleased with all that Great Creator I AM had made, that Great Creator I AM gave Adam and Eve full license to “be fruitful and multiply.”

Indeed, Adam’s physical body had been formed from the substance of Mother Earth. Great Creator I AM fashioned Adam’s magnificent body from the dust of Mother Earth. Later, Great Creator I AM caused mighty Adam to fall into a deep sleep. Then, Great Creator I AM took DNA and RNA substance from Adam and fashioned our ancient, beautiful and powerful goddess Mother Eve.

For many years, Adam and Eve resided primarily in the Garden of Eden on their planet. Together they had dominion over everything. Then, one day, an adversary of the Creator, who had been banished from the Royal Courts of Great Creator I AM made his evil advance into the Paradise of Adam and Eve.

This particularly cunning enemy was very jealous of Adam and Eve, because, having rebelled against the Mighty Great Creator I AM, the adversary Lucifer lost his lofty authority in the heavens. Lucifer had been foolish enough to say that he would exalt himself above the heavenly throne of Great Creator I AM. Needless to explain, but I will attempt it anyway, Great Creator I AM was not about to be dethroned, so Lucifer and his companions in the crime of treason against Great Creator I AM was cast out of the heavens into outer darkness.

Then, one day, the Holy Spirit of Great Creator I AM moved over the interplanetary shadows of a heretofore unnoticed planet called Earth. Great Creator I AM spoke energy light into the atmosphere of Mother Earth, and life appeared on the planet. This is where Great Creator I AM fashioned Adam and Eve and established their Earth Kingdom in the Garden of Eden.

Enemy Lucifer would not leave well enough alone. He hated his exile. After all, he had been the choir leader in Heaven. He was the most talented and the most beautiful of all the angels. His elevated status had never been enough. He “wanted it all.” Never has there been a greater example of self love, than that of Lucifer.

The banishment of the fallen angel Lucifer/Satan is noted as being so severe that the Only Begotten Son of Great Creator I AM would one day recall that HE saw this ancient serpentine enemy fall from Planet Heaven like lightening.

At any rate, Angel Lucifer as he was known at the time, decided to slither into the Garden of Eden and seduce Adam’s wife. His seduction was so effective that it disrupted the harmony of Eden.

Enemy Lucifer wanted Earth, but had no legal way to wrest it from Adam. So, Lucifer seduced Mother Eve. Mother Eve tried to reason out in her own mind the edicts of Great Creator I AM that had been given to her husband Adam. They were not to eat of the knowledge of the tree of good and evil. Eve was beguiled by Lucifer and ate of the fruit. Adam was not beguiled, but a part of himself, his DNA/RNA connection to Eve had already partaken, so he joined his wife in the act of partaking of the “forbidden fruit.”

After the fruit of forbidden knowledge was conceived, Great Creator I AM cast them out of the Garden, away from the tree of life. Adam and Eve, whose spiritual energy and perfectly balanced souls had been housed in a perfect physical body, were now subject to time. They moved out of the timeless dimensions of Eden, into the boundaries of time and decay of what earth would become.

Great Creator I AM placed a flaming sword at the “gate” of Eden, so that Adam and Eve would not have the courage to “walk through the fire” to return to Paradise.

In the midst of Lucifer’s seduction and Adam and Eve’s subsequent “fall from Great Creator I AM’s grace,” two sons were conceived; Cain being of his father the evil one, and Able being the Son of Adam. Cain, in a fit of rage, killed Abel. Murder was now in the earth.

Adam’s and Eve’s bodies, no longer eternally existing in a timeless state, begin to “die.” Great Creator I AM had warned them that not following the Creator’s Divine Instructions would lead to “death.” This state of “death” had previously been unknown to Creation.

Over the next thousands of years, men and women would be born, and then die on Planet Earth. Only the promise of a “Redeemer” gave the people hope.

Great Creator I AM had a timeless plan. “For Great Creator I AM so loved the world, that Great Creator I AM gave Great Creator I AM’s Only Begotten Son, Jesus, so that anyone who believes on, has faith in and accepts the Lordship of Jesus the Christ, shall not perish, but shall have the everlasting life promised to us before the beginning of time as we know and understand it.”

Much of this Truth has been distorted by human reasoning and demonic interference. Yet, Great Creator I AM loves us so much, that we are welcome into eternity, if we accept the Way, the Truth and the Life.

Pursue Truth, and life. Amen.

John 1:1 In the beginning was the Word, and the Word was with God and the Word was God…
