Vote: Pray For The Ballot in 2014 and 2015

141002 blog image9Not in recent history has an elections been as important as the upcoming mid-term elections on November 2, 2014. With the directions our country is heading, now is the time for Christians to step up to the voting booth and make their votes count so we can turn our directions around. All the recent events of today, terrorist beheadings, Ebola crisis, the economy, education and Common Core, unemployment, abortion, attacks on religious freedom, all, are a result of our turning away from our God and the culture of life and embracing a culture of death. Now, this election cycle, is the time for men and women of faith to vote their biblical values and help steer America back on a path to freedom: freedom from terror, freedom from disease, freedom from joblessness, freedom from abortion. The Church in America is instrumental in accomplishing this so we call on Pastors of every denomination to inspire their congregations to vote for biblical principles.

In 1957, my Uncle ML demanded “Give Us The Ballot.” Now in 2014-2015 I am urging us to “pray for the ballot and vote for life, liberty and the pursuit of happiness.” Our nation deserves no less.

From “Give Us the Ballot, We Will Transform the South [Nation]” by Martin Luther King, Jr. Speech given before the Lincoln Memorial at the March on Washington, May 17, 1957 [annotated where indicated]

“Give us the ballot and we will no longer have to worry the federal government about our basic rights. Give us the ballot and we will no longer plead to the federal government for passage of an anti-lynching law; we will by the power of our vote write the law on the statute books of the [southern] states and bring an end to the dastardly acts of the [hooded] perpetrators of violence. Give us the ballot and we will fill our legislative halls with men [and women] of good will, and send to the sacred halls of Congressmen who will not sign a [Southern] Manifesto, because of their devotion to the manifesto of justice.”

Fr. Frank Pavone – Supreme Court’s Texas Order Inexplicable

FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE

Staten Island, NY – Fr. Frank Pavone, National Director of Priests for Life, has issued the following statement regarding the Supreme Court’s order blocking the enforcement of Texas’s law requiring abortion clinics to meet minimum health and safety standards.

“The Supreme Court did not explain its order in the challenge to Texas’s law protecting women’s health. Perhaps that’s because the court’s order is inexplicable. Women’s health is on the line and six justices ruled that abortionists can continue to rake in the cash rather than make their clinics safer for women.

“We know that the abortion lobby is now rejecting the slogan ‘safe, legal, and rare’ because the word ‘rare’ correctly implies that there’s something wrong with abortion. It’s obvious that abortion promoters also don’t like the term ‘safe,’ because making facilities safer for women means less cash in their pockets. Now, thanks to the Supreme Court’s order, Texas abortionists’ bank accounts won’t take a hit – women will.”

Should Christians Vote?

Friday, October 10th, 2014

SPACER141002 blog image7This is part three of what is becoming a series about voting. Some of the intel from the previous two articles is recapped here.

Just before I was born-again in 1983, I served two terms as a State Legislator for the 28th Georgia House District. I was a Democrat. Years later I served as a Republican Presidential Appointee. Along the way I remember learning that God is greater than politics and that politics can become an idol.

Coming from a Christian family who was very active in the 20th century Civil Rights Movement, we marched and some died for equality at the ballot box; the right to vote. So yes, I honor the privilege and responsibility of taking part in our electoral process.

Yet, for far too many, the issue of voting is still shrouded in debate. Many are still asking: “Should believers take part in the politics of this world, including elections?”

In 2008 two of my friends experienced startlingly revealing dreams about the soon to be “first Black President of America.” Please note that America’s president is not the first Black president in the world; only in America. For instance, countries on the continent of Africa have been electing Black presidents for ages.

So many Americans made an idol of a man’s skin color; electing him for the color of his skin rather than the content of his character.

Never mind that racism is based upon the lie that we are separate races rather than accepting the truth that we are one human race.

Acts 17:26 – “Of one blood God created all people…” YES! One race.

In 2008, amidst the skin color furor of the campaign trail, my radio co-host Emmanuel Boose of cycbroadcast.com was a surrogate speaker for the soon to be elected Black President of the United States. Just before the election, my friend dreamed of a field covered with black garbage bags. As he walked through the maze of bags, he heard a wailing cry from one of the bags. Investigation revealed that the bags were filled with aborted babies. Emmanuel woke up crying, sweating and praying. He knew that he couldn’t vote for his candidate. Emmanuel now had to raise his voice and his vote for the lives of the babies.

During the same time, the wife of another minister friend had recurring dreams of then Senator Obama in a hospital wearing a medical lab coat and a stethoscope. He appeared to be a doctor or medical professional.

It would later be revealed that as US President, Mr. Obama would support an HHS Mandate as a “healthcare cloak” for abortion and harmful experimental contraceptives. The medical guise in the dream represented the invasion of deceptive medical reform.

I was angry about what God was revealing at that time. We were going to elect the most abortion supporting, marriage threatening president we had ever known, and skin color would be used to do this. Wow!

Yet another minister friend, Rev. Clenard Childress of LEARN reminded me to forgive God because God would use this president to expose racism, abortion and the attack on Bible principles for marriage in a way that we had not yet seen.

Since that time, I’ve been praying for the President and his family; and have even visited the White House twice in the last seven years to express God’s love to the President.

Now, voting time is upon us again. Yes, I do vote. When I can’t reconcile my faith to the platforms, I write in names. Yet, I vote. People died for my right to do so.

So what do we do now? Let’s start at home base.

What does the Bible say about voting in elections? Surprisingly nothing specifically. Why?

Consider that in the times of Jesus the Jews were under Roman rule and they were not Roman citizens. Therefore, they were not permitted to vote. In fact, most Roman citizens couldn’t either. Only the very wealthy were allowed to vote.

But we can see in Acts 6:1-5 that an “election” of sorts did take place.

“Now at this time while the disciples were increasing in number, a complaint arose on the part of the Hellenistic Jews against the native Hebrews, because their widows were being overlooked in the daily serving of food. And the twelve summoned the congregation of the disciples and said, “It is not desirable for us to neglect the word of God in order to serve tables. “But select from among you, brethren, seven men of good reputation, full of the Spirit and of wisdom, whom we may put in charge of this task. “But we will devote ourselves to prayer, and to the ministry of the word.” And the statement found approval with the whole congregation; and they chose Stephen, a man full of faith and of the Holy Spirit, and Philip, Prochorus, Nicanor, Timon, Parmenas and Nicolas, a proselyte from Antioch.”

Clearly the seven were to help protect the rights of the people and settle the dispute between the Hellenistic Jews and the native Hebrews.

So it is with our government of today. Once the elected people, “politicians,” are in office, they are expected to safeguard our rights. But one difference is that in the Bible days, the people elected “men of good reputation, full of the Spirit and of wisdom.” Today, you would have to question the “good” reputation of many in office and more importantly whether they are even men and women who are “full of the Spirit.”

In the elections of 2012, Billy Graham began a campaign, “Vote Biblical Values,” in which he encouraged people to vote for candidates that espoused biblical values and morality, “men/women full of the Spirit.”

So it should be for this election cycle and all elections as well.

In his recent report on “The Shemitah Prophecy” author Rabbi Johnathan Cahn talks about Biblical cycles of blessings which are sometimes affected by negative forces like economic depression, death affirming legislation, 9/11, world wars and the like. These cycles began in the days of Moses and are present today.
http://youtu.be/F6AXP41mr7Q and http://youtu.be/W8B14NSIWc8.

Of course the Shemitah is only one among many warnings of judgment. For example, the year 1963 when prayer was voted out of schools wasn’t a Shemitah year, but much harm has impacted our nation from that occurrence.

Still, all too many ignore God’s signs and judgments, preferring to consult astrology, psychics and demonology. Foolish and shameful!

“O foolish Galatians,” [and Americans] “who has bewitched you, that you turn away from obeying the truth, before whose eyes Jesus Christ has been evidently set forth, crucified among you?” Galatians 3:1 [annotated]

The Rabbi’s words on Shemitah reveal that the 1973 Roe VS Wade decision that made abortion – the killing of babies in the womb – legal is likely and largely connected to many of the problems America is experiencing.

Mother Theresa once said: “The greatest destroyer of peace is abortion because if a mother can kill her own child, what is left for me to kill you and you to kill me? There is nothing between.”

She also said, “If we accept that a mother can kill her own child, how can we tell other people not to kill each other? Any country that accepts abortion is not teaching its people to love, rather, to use violence to get what they want.”

As in the days of old, isn’t that what the fear mongers of the world are doing today? Promoting greed and violence over regarding the sanctity of life… Selling birthrights and then shedding innocent blood to wrest erstwhile or unearned or unsecured inheritances by any means?

Yet all is not lost. We can still help shift our world towards a culture of life by voting for those who regard the sanctity of life, marriage, family and THE BIBLE.

So now, as we seek to reconcile everything, what would God have us learn regarding the electorate process?

The heart of God is expressed in the Bible as to His concern for government leaders and leadership by telling us as Christians that we should pray in this vein when we look at the admonition in the following verses:

“I exhort therefore, that, first of all, supplications, prayers, intercessions, and giving of thanks, be made for all men; For kings, and for all that are in authority; that we may lead a quiet and peaceable life in all godliness and honesty. For this is good and acceptable in the sight of God our Saviour; Who will have all men to be saved, and to come unto the knowledge of the truth.” 1 Timothy 2:1-4

It is our duty as Christians and as citizens to participate in prayer for the elections and those who seek and gain power to lead. But are we to pray only and not vote?

“So you see, faith by itself isn’t enough. Unless it produces good deeds, it is dead and useless. Now someone may argue, “Some people have faith; others have good deeds.” But I say, “How can you show me your faith if you don’t have good deeds? I will show you my faith by my good deeds.” You say you have faith, for you believe that there is one God. Good for you! Even the demons believe this, and they tremble in terror. How foolish! Can’t you see that faith without good deeds is useless?” (James 2:17-20 NLT)

Some may say that the Bible doesn’t say vote so I’m not doing it. Well, I haven’t read in the Bible that we are to flush the commode after we use it, but I still do it. Seriously. Is anyone getting this?

So we pray in faith and then go to work; in this instance, vote.

With our votes we can elect godly men and women who will make laws that conform to biblical values.

Thankfully not all of us are called to be political servants. The majority of us will never hold office but still we have an important role to play. We must begin with prayer and discernment. We must educate ourselves on the stances of the candidates and vote accordingly.

October is the “Month for Life,” and is a critical month every year, especially in an election year. As we continue to pray over the upcoming elections, we ask you to spread your payers far and wide via your social media networks and email lists, and in your pro-life groups, community and civil rights meetings, and churches in the coming weeks.

After the elections, no matter what happens, continue to pray. Remember to warn your children and grandchildren about the foundation of Halloween being witchcraft.

Then get ready for Thanksgiving and Christmas, always thanking and giving glory to God for His goodness and the gift of His Son, our Savior Jesus Christ. His pure, sinless, shed blood can never lose it’s power because it cannot die! Jesus’ blood never died. It was shed into the earth for us. He temporarily gave up his body, but was resurrected. HE LIVES.

Then on to the New Year of 2015, another Shemitah Year where the election cycle continues with the election of a new president. What does God have in store? His will is sure to be revealed.

Meanwhile, continue to pray and vote for candidates who agree with and follow THE BIBLE; who support life, marriage and family according to God’s way as if your quality of life is impacted by it. Because it is.

WHY WE MUST VOTE

141002 blog image

Should believers take part in the politics of this world, including elections?

What does the Bible say about voting in elections? Nothing specifically.

Let’s remember that in the times of Jesus the Jews were under Roman rule and they were not Roman citizens.

“But we will devote ourselves to prayer, and to the ministry of the word.” And the statement found approval with the whole congregation; and they chose Stephen, a man full of faith and of the Holy Spirit, and Philip, Prochorus, Nicanor, Timon, Parmenas and Nicolas, a proselyte from Antioch.” (NASB77, highlighting added)

Clearly the seven were to help protect the rights of the people and settle the dispute between the Hellenistic Jews and the native Hebrews.

So it is with our government of today. These elected people, “politicians,” are supposed to safeguard our rights. But the difference is that they elected “men of good reputation, full of the Spirit and of wisdom.” Today, you would have to question the “good” reputation of many in office and more importantly whether they are even men and women who are “full of the Spirit.”

In the elections of 2012, Billy Graham began a campaign, “Vote Biblical Values,” in which he encouraged people to vote for candidates that espoused biblical values and morality, “men/women full of the Spirit.”

So it should be for this election cycle and all elections as well.

It seems that our nation and the whole world is getting further away from God and His teachings. And we are paying for our sins. It’s evident in current events. ISIS, Iran, Russia invading other countries, beheadings of prisoners of various nations, and even a beheading in America.

A couple of quotes from Mother Teresa are appropriate for our discussion. She said: “The greatest destroyer of peace is abortion because if a mother can kill her own child, what is left for me to kill you and you to kill me? There is nothing between.”

Abortion breaks the most sacred bond, the bond between a mother and her baby, and reduces the sanctity of life to someone’s “choice.” If we are willing to accept abortion then how can we be surprised when one person makes the “choice” that your life must end because you don’t believe what they believe?

She also said, “If we accept that a mother can kill her own child, how can we tell other people not to kill each other? Any country that accepts abortion is not teaching its people to love, rather, to use violence to get what they want.” Isn’t that what ISIS is doing? What Russia is doing? What Alton Nolen did? Accepting violence over regarding the sanctity of life…

We can help shift our world towards a culture of life by voting for those who regard the sanctity of life. What would God have us learn regarding the electorate process?

The heart of God is expressed in the Bible as to His concern for government leaders and leadership by telling us as Christians that we should pray in this vein when we look at the admonition in the following verses:

Texas is a Victory, Because Abortionists Just Don’t Care

Staten Island, NY – Fr. Frank Pavone, National Director of Priests for Life, today praised the 5th Circuit Court of Appeals ruling allowing Texas to enforce its abortion clinic standards law while the court examines its constitutionality.

“The 5th Circuit’s decision is a great victory for women’s health,” said Fr. Pavone. “We have seen too many young women harmed, sometimes fatally, because of botched abortions. The Texas legislature, as recognized by the court, acted in the public interest and the public’s health. The reason some see this law as ‘restrictive’ rather than ‘protective’ is that they do not yet know the extent of corruption and malpractice in the abortion industry.”

“There is no good reason to oppose having clinic hallways wide enough for a gurney to pass through. Abortionists just don’t think women are worth the expense,” added Fr. Pavone. “Unless, of course, the abortion lobby thinks that a woman who’s bleeding to death should just walk to the ambulance.”

Fr. Frank Pavone: Justice Ginsburg Has Prejudged Texas’s Abortion Law and Must Recuse Herself When It Comes Before the Supreme Court

Tuesday, September 30th, 2014

PriestsForLife

FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE
Date: September 30, 2014

347-286-7277

STATEN ISLAND, NY – Fr. Frank Pavone, National Director of Priests for Life, today called on Supreme Court Justice Ruth Bader Ginsburg to recuse herself from deciding any case related to Texas’s abortion law passed in 2013.

“Supreme Court justices are not supposed to announce how they will rule on a case before they even hear oral arguments. It’s a question of basic integrity and common sense.” said Fr. Pavone. “Justice Ginsburg has already announced to the world how she would vote on a key question regarding Texas’s abortion law that’s now in federal court. That’s wrong and she should remove herself from any decision on that law.”

At issue in legal challenges to Texas’s abortion law is whether it is intended to protect women’s health or just a way to close abortion clinics. Justice Ginsburg strongly implied to an interviewer that she has already made up her mind on this question. When asked if legislatures can be trusted to protect “access to reproductive choice,” she answered, “How could you trust legislatures in view of the restrictions states are imposing? Think of the Texas legislation that would put most clinics out of business.”

“This really boils down to what Justice Ginsburg values more, protecting the integrity of the Supreme Court, or protecting the abortion industry,” added Fr. Pavone. “This is not an abstract, theoretical matter – Justice Ginsburg has already decided a specific case she hasn’t even heard yet. By any logical standard, she should recuse herself from any Supreme Court decision on any part of Texas’s abortion laws.”

Legal challenges to various sections of Texas’s 2013 abortion law are currently before federal courts and are widely expected to reach the Supreme Court in the next year or two. In question are provisions stating that abortion clinics must meet the health and safety standards of ambulatory surgical centers and that abortionists should have admitting privileges at a local hospital so that they can continue to provide care to women experiencing emergency complications.

Rest in Peace, Pro-Life Warrior

Tuesday, September 30th, 2014

Sandra CanoNEW YORK – Father Frank Pavone, National Director of Priests for Life, and Janet Morana, Executive Director, issued the following statements today after learning of the death of their friend and fellow pro-life activist Sandra Cano.

“My heart is broken that Sandra will never witness an end to abortion,” Mrs. Morana said. “She never wanted to have an abortion, she never had an abortion and she certainly never wanted to be a part of the Supreme Court decision, Doe V. Bolton, that opened the gates for legal abortion at any time during pregnancy and for any reason. I will work harder now, in Sandra’s memory, to make sure this harmful and deadly product is taken off the market.”

Father Pavone recalled that during a 1997 event at the National Memorial for the Unborn in Chattanooga, TN., Sandra said: “I pledge that as long as I have breath, I will strive to see abortion ended in America.”

Calling her statement “a lasting hope for our nation,” Father Pavone said: “Sandra’s work to overturn that devastating decision that was based on lies will not end with her death. When life ultimately triumphs over death, Sandra will share in that victory.”

When Sandra Cano approached attorneys for help, she understood her case as an effort to obtain a divorce and regain custody of her children. She was pregnant, and her attorney, in partnership with her mother, arranged an abortion for Sandra at Georgia Baptist Hospital. When she found out about the plan, she fled to Oklahoma and never had the abortion.

Priests for Life Urges Supreme Court to Protect Clergy from Government Overreach

Wednesday, September 24th, 2014

PriestsForLife

FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE
Date: September 23, 2014

Contact: Leslie Palma
347-286-7277

NEW YORK, NY – Fr. Frank Pavone announced today that Priests for Life (PFL) has joined with Catholic Action to file an amicus brief asking the Supreme Court to accept a case involving the state of Louisiana’s attempt to force the Catholic Church to violate its sacrament of confession.

Fr. Pavone, National Director of PFL, said the lawsuit, Diocese of Baton Rouge v. Mayeux, is yet another example of government’s increasing intrusion into religion.

“No government entity has the right to tell a church what it can or cannot believe. It is not God,” he said. “The sacrament of confession has been one of the pillars of the Catholic Church for centuries, but now the state of Louisiana wants to dismantle it by forcing a priest to violate his sacred duty of confidentiality. This cannot and will not happen.”

Fr. Pavone continued: “The Constitution, the rules of evidence, and decades of case law say that government cannot force a priest to reveal what is said to him in a confessional. If a law enforcement official or judge tells a member of Priests for Life to violate the seal of confession, I will urge that priest to disobey that order and stay in jail as long as necessary to fight it.”

“Confession is not a mere ritual,” added Fr. Pavone. “It is a sacred ministerial practice, the violation of which by a priest can result in his excommunication from the Church. If the state requires us to choose between incarceration and excommunication, we will choose the jail cell. My prayer is that the Supreme Court will accept this appeal and reverse the Louisiana Supreme Court so that priests across the country do not have to make this decision.”

Fr. Pavone also said that if the state can force into public view statements made during confession, it will not just be priests who will be harmed.

“If there is no confidentiality in confession, the freedom of believers to confess their sins will be severely restricted,” he said. “Mothers and families impacted by abortion, in particular, will be discouraged from experiencing God’s forgiveness if they fear their confessions will be made public.”

PRAY TO END THE FAMILY FEUD AND END THE TERROR!

Monday, September 22nd, 2014

140922 blog image

There is lots of information regarding ISIS and these types of things. Prayer is the key, of course. Human efforts cannot save us. Only Jesus can. Of course we must be prudent, and God will guide us through. Salvation of the people is the most important assignment; including prayer for the Muslims who are Isaac’s brothers, and are Abraham’s sons also. This family feud between them must end. God blessed them as well, but their anger and Satan’s deceptions keep them deluded from their own blessings. Isaac is the covenant child; but God never abandoned Ishmael. God promised to bless him too! The Muslims are our deluded brothers and sisters. Let us pray that we not be held captive by the delusion that God doesn’t want them saved. The love of I Corinthians 13 must guide us. It never fails! If they can just stop fighting, they’ll realize there are more than enough blessings for us all. GOD LOVES US ALL!

JESUS CAME TO SET THE CAPTIVES FREE! ALL CAPTIVES, INCLUDING THE MUSLIMS. LET US PRAY FOR THEIR LIBERTY IN JESUS. MANY MUSLIMS ARE DELUDED INTO BELIEVING THE LIE THAT THEY MUST SLAUGHTER OTHERS TO GAIN THEIR INHERITANCE. THE OPPOSITE IS TRUE. THEIR LIBERTY AND LASTING INHERITANCE IS IN JESUS, AS IS OURS AND EVERYONE’S. THIS IS WHY WHEN MUSLIMS ACCEPT CHRIST, THEY WOULD RATHER FACE TORTURE AND DEATH THAN GO BACK. PROCLAIM THE TRUTH IN LOVE.

Abraham’s Two Children (Galatians 4:21-31 NLT)

“Tell me, you who want to live under the law, do you know what the law actually says? The Scriptures say that Abraham had two sons, one from his slave wife and one from his freeborn wife. The son of the slave wife was born in a human attempt to bring about the fulfillment of God’s promise. But the son of the freeborn wife was born as God’s own fulfillment of his promise.

These two women serve as an illustration of God’s two covenants. The first woman, Hagar, represents Mount Sinai where people received the law that enslaved them. And now Jerusalem is just like Mount Sinai in Arabia, because she and her children live in slavery to the law. But the other woman, Sarah, represents the heavenly Jerusalem. She is the free woman, and she is our mother. As Isaiah said,

“Rejoice, O childless woman,
you who have never given birth!
Break into a joyful shout,
you who have never been in labor!
For the desolate woman now has more children
than the woman who lives with her husband!”

And you, dear brothers and sisters, are children of the promise, just like Isaac. But you are now being persecuted by those who want you to keep the law, just as Ishmael, the child born by human effort, persecuted Isaac, the child born by the power of the Spirit.

But what do the Scriptures say about that? “Get rid of the slave and her son, for the son of the slave woman will not share the inheritance with the free woman’s son.” So, dear brothers and sisters, we are not children of the slave woman; we are children of the free woman.”

Most importantly, we are children of God in Christ Jesus. May Holy Spirit help us to see and hear!
