NEW YORK – Fr. Frank Pavone, National Director of Priests for Life, the Catholic Church’s largest organization focused on ending abortion, today hailed the House of Representatives’ passage of a bill to give states flexibility in deciding whether to fund abortion groups through the Medicaid program.

“The Women’s Public Health and Safety Act offers what the abortion lobby always claims it supports – choice,” said Fr. Pavone. “If people don’t want their tax dollars paying for the tools that dissect aborted babies, they shouldn’t be forced to finance such inhumanity.”

The House voted 236-193 to pass legislation that would grant express permission to states to exclude groups and individuals involved with abortion from their Medicaid programs. Currently, the Obama administration and federal courts have said that states cannot make this decision.

“Millions of people, through their elected state representatives, have tried to exercise their right not to subsidize those who abort babies,” added Fr. Pavone. “This bill would give them that right. Obviously, defunding Planned Parenthood is a multi-pronged effort, not resting on any one vote or measure. It will take creativity, patience, and perseverance to reach this goal, and yesterday’s successful vote was one more step in the process.”

Fr. Pavone: Pope Francis Upholds ‘Convictions of Conscience:’ Is Obama Listening?

PHILADELPHIA – Fr. Frank Pavone, National Director of Priests for Life, the nation’s largest Catholic pro-life organization, today issued the following statement on Pope Francis’s address to Congress.

“Pope Francis reminded us today that our government must have ‘respect for our differences and our convictions of conscience.’

“We at Priests for Life applaud Pope Francis’s affirmation of religious freedom in his remarks to Congress. His words highlight the need for Congress to take direct steps toward protecting rights of conscience and religious freedom, which are currently being violated by the HHS mandate. Priests for Life has been challenging this mandate in court for the last three-and-a-half years, and recently petitioned the Supreme Court to hear our case. We await the court’s decision.

Also, when Pope Francis declared that we must ‘protect and defend human life at every stage of its development,’ he reminded Congressional lawmakers of a fundamental principle of lawmaking, namely, that the law must protect human life from the moment it begins. Currently, our Congress, our president and our courts are failing to do that.

“This is not just one among many failures; it is a failure that redefines us as a nation. In the words of Pope St. John Paul II, this failure turns us into a “tyrant state.’

“This affirmation of Pope Francis to Congress today is not made in a vacuum. Every pope speaks and writes in the context of established Church teaching. His reference to the need to protect life from conception involves the body of teaching found in so many Church documents.

“There is no question that this is the most important foundation for advancing other human rights.”

Fr. Pavone: VP Biden Misses the Point on Abortion

PHILADELPHIA — In an interview with the Jesuit publication America, Vice President Biden stated, “Abortion is always wrong … But I’m not prepared to impose doctrine that I’m prepared to accept on the rest of [the country]…I’m prepared to accept that at the moment of conception there’s human life and being, but I’m not prepared to say that to other God-fearing [and] non-God-fearing people that have a different view.”

Fr. Frank Pavone, National Director of Priests for Life, issued the following statement today about these remarks:

“While the vice president acknowledges that abortion is always wrong, apparently he misunderstands the reason. Abortion is wrong for the same reason stealing is wrong or terrorist acts are wrong: These actions violate people’s rights. Are we to say that our faith opposes terrorism, but that we will allow it for people of other faiths? The goal of the pro-life movement and pro-life churches is not to impose beliefs on anyone, but rather to protect people from beliefs that others would invoke to kill them.”

Memorial Service Oct. 24 for Kermit Gosnell Victims

PHILADELPHIA, PA — At the conclusion of the Pro-life International Symposium at the World Meeting of Families here last night, it was announced that on Saturday, October 24, there will be a National Day of Remembrance at the gravesite of the babies killed by Philadelphia abortionist Kermit Gosnell and discovered in jars, boxes, and milk cartons in his clinic. Gosnell is in prison for life, for killing babies born alive.

Fr. Frank Pavone, National Director of Priests for Life, the key organizer of last night’s event and of the upcoming memorial service, stated, “The Medical Examiner’s office refused to allow either the Archdiocese of Philadelphia or Priests for Life to bury these babies, despite repeated private and public requests. Now that they have unceremoniously cremated and buried these children, it is long overdue that there be a public religious service to honor them. We will do that on October 24, and we invite all concerned people from around the nation to join us.”

More information will be released at www.PriestsForLife.org as the details of the event are finalized.

World Meeting of Families Remarks

Thursday, September 24th, 2015

www.kingrulesbook.com

September 23, 2015

Dear friends, as Director of African American Outreach for Priests for Life, please allow me to say, “be encouraged as you continue to preserve true human rights and fundamental freedoms; life, liberty and the pursuit of happiness.”

Today we gather at the World Meeting of Families to proclaim that the family is a cornerstone of our society. Yet as we gather together, that cornerstone is being chipped away by forces that want to destroy our communities; that want to destroy our families and our very lives.

Yes, today we are witnessing attempts to distort the meaning of human rights in order to advance an evil agenda; one that is authored by the father of confusion and lies.

This agenda destroys life, family and communities.

We must resist this agenda with all our might. We must not fall for the deceptions of the anti-procreation agenda; rather we must continue to expose their lies and affirm the truth that God made us all equal as human beings; understanding that all behaviors do not have equivalent worth and outcomes.

It is urgent that we stand as a united people in defending the beauty and future of the natural family and the beauty and innocence of all our children. Too many young lives have been lost to child abuse, abortion and the sickening trade of selling aborted baby parts. Please do not participate in this evil and risk the Lord’s great and coming wrath.

I urge you to defend the integrity of just laws and remember as my Uncle Rev. MLK said: “Injustice anywhere is a threat to justice everywhere.”

My Uncle ML, my father Rev. AD King, and my grandfather Daddy King were all prolife during their lifetimes. They didn’t believe that abortion was a civil right. They would never have agreed that abortion and carcinogenic birth control methods are health care. They never discovered the hidden agenda of death birthed by Margaret Sanger and Planned Parenthood. They also refused to associate the anti- natural life and marriage agenda with the civil rights movement.

We have always been a strong family. Granddaddy convinced my mother not to abort me in 1950. Abortion was illegal back then. Two decades later, after the deaths of my Daddy and Uncle, when abortion was becoming legal in America, I suffered two secret abortions and s miscarriage. In the mid 1970′s, Granddaddy once again stepped in and convinced me not to abort another baby. I once was blind and now I see.

My family bloodline has had a Christian world view for generations. As an example of this, Uncle ML clung to the scriptures and refused to acknowledge human sexuality and abortion rights as issues that needed to be addressed on the public platform where the battle for skin color equity was being engaged.

Whereas on the other hand, today I’m sure that they would agree that the sanctity of life is part of the civil rights public platform because LIFE is a human right. And as such, we must fight to protect all lives because God’s love matters.

In my recent open letter welcoming Pope Francis to America, I asked if the lion can lie down with the lamb? I believe this can happen when as my uncle Rev. MLK said, we must all “learn to live together as brothers [and sisters] or perish as fools.” Yet we have a ways to go before we get there.

I work towards this goal at Priests for Life, in my work with AAO, informing, educating and activating the Black community, spreading the message that abortion ends a human life. Abortion is harmful to the mother, father, the family and the community. This truth is paramount because many do not know that Blacks are being aborted at disproportionate rates compared with all other people groups.

Further, as a global spokesperson for the Silent No More Awareness Campaign, I share how the loss of my two aborted babies and a miscarriage caused by abortion related damages to my body has affected me. My children lost three siblings to abortion. My mother has three less grandchildren to love. Society has lost three contributions to the fields of maybe medicine, or science, or education and business, or perhaps even the next great president. Only God knows for sure.

Yet faith, hope and love remain. At Rachel’s Vineyard, where I received my own post abortion healing, offers God’s love and forgiveness to all who repent and ask for his mercy. No one needs to suffer alone. With over 55 million abortions since 1973, Rachel’s Vineyard has thousands of men and women to heal from abortion’s scars.

Abortion shockwaves have been felt across every area of our lives. Abortion has touched many families in one way or another. Abortion is not just a choice between a mother and her doctor but a choice that affects all families and society as a whole.

In the 20th century my uncle said that “America will not reject racism until America sees racism.” In the 21st century Fr. Frank Pavone says that “America will not reject abortion until America see abortion.” I agree.

We know that America is beginning to see abortion in all it’s evils. Thanks to the Center for Medical Progress videos exposing Planned Parenthood’s and other human harvesting agents’ horrific atrocities against the most innocent, vulnerable members of our human family, the time is right to stand up for life, to demand accountability, and to demand that our governments stop supporting abortion and its byproducts.

My friends all human beings are born into a world of sin. Yet, we can all be transformed by being born again. Yes, we are in challenging times, and difficulties still lie ahead but we have a sovereign Lord who is the victor and is Truth.

Dear friends, as we wage this battle to uphold the safety and sustainability of the human family, I urge you to stand for God’s truth, to live by God’s truth and pursue this Truth in all areas of life.

I hope that you enjoyed the trailer for my latest book, King Rules, which you saw in the beginning. I now want you to enjoy a preview of a song I co-produced, PRAY for AMERICA. As you watch, I encourage you to sing along and to remember to pray for our leaders, pray for those fighting to preserve the lives, liberty and pursuit of happiness for the human family as God designed it. Pray for our nation, our people and our world.

God bless you all.

Pro-Life International Symposium at World Meeting of Families

Wednesday, September 23rd, 2015

PriestsForLife

FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE
September 23, 2015

Contact: Leslie Palma
347-286-7277

PHILADELPHIA – As part of the World Meeting of Families, the Archdiocese of Philadelphia and a coalition of pro-life leaders will host a Pro-Life International Symposium at 6 p.m. tonight – Wednesday, Sept. 23 – in the Grand Ballroom of the Pennsylvania Convention Center.

The symposium is free and open to the general public, as well as World Meeting attendees.

Father Frank Pavone, National Director of Priests for Life, a co-sponsor of the event, answers questions about the event and its place on the World Meeting of Families schedule.

Q. Why is it important to have a symposium on abortion at the World Meeting of Families?

Father Pavone: As we used to say when I worked at the Pontifical Council for the Family and as we organized the World Meeting of Families back in 1997, “There can be no life without family and there can be no family without life.”

The connection between the theme of family and the theme of protecting life is inseparable. The family is “the sanctuary of life,” and, in fact, Pope St. John Paul II indicated in “The Gospel of Life” that the fact that abortion is committed by one family member upon another is one of the things that makes it particularly serious.

The theme of this World Meeting of Families is, “Love is our Mission: The Family Fully Alive.” The symposium will emphasize that the family can be fully alive only if all its members are protected, including the children in the womb.

Moreover, the family can be fully alive only if it is healed of the wounds of abortion, which is more destructive of family life and relationships than anything else. For these reasons, a symposium on abortion is not only important, but essential, especially given the fact that many in society and in the Church want to ignore the abortion issue.

Q. How did this conference come about?

Father Pavone: Over a year ago, I asked some 70 leaders in the pro-life movement to sign a letter that we sent to Pope Francis, to the Pontifical Council for the Family, and to Archbishop Chaput of Philadelphia, expressing our support for the World Meeting of Families. In response, the planning committee of the World Meeting of Families, with the support of the Archdiocese of Philadelphia and the Vatican’s Pontifical Council for the Family, gave us this Wednesday night time slot to hold an International Pro-life Symposium.

Then, many of the leaders signed on to another letter inviting people to come to it.

Q. The people who are attending the World Meeting are, for the most part, devout Catholics. Do you worry you will be preaching to the choir?

Father Pavone: It is precisely because so many of the participants are part of “the choir” that we need to speak to them about this. The choir always needs choir practice. The troops always need encouragement, and there is much encouraging news to report in the battle against abortion. Our symposium will be a celebration of life and family for those already committed to defending them, rather than an event aimed to convert those who are not already convinced.

Q. What are you hoping people will take away from the symposium?

Father Pavone: There are still some pro-life activists who ask me whether Pope Francis sees fighting abortion as a priority for the Church. My hope is that this symposium will reassure them that nothing has changed, either in the mind of the Pope or the Church, regarding the urgent priority of protecting the most vulnerable children. In fact, protecting the poor, weak, vulnerable and marginalized is precisely at the heart of the spirituality and priorities of Pope Francis.

Moreover, I want the participants of this symposium to be encouraged in their own involvement in the pro-life movement, and to find in the symposium some new tools and strategies to implement, and some new relationships with other pro-life activists from other parts of the country and the world.

Q. Are babies and children welcome?

Father Pavone: I suspect there will be few places in the world where, on that night, babies and children will be more welcome than in our Pro-life Symposium!

Pols who won’t vote to defund Planned Parenthood have their own war chests in mind

FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE

NEW YORK – Father Frank Pavone, National Director of Priests for Life, issued the following statement after the House voted for a moratorium on federal funding for Planned Parenthood.

“Priests for Life congratulates the U.S. House of Representatives for voting for a moratorium on Planned Parenthood funding for one year, pending investigations into the immoral and illegal activities of the mega-abortion business. The efforts to stop the flow of hundreds of millions of government dollars into the business that performs some 327,000 abortions a year will require persistence and patience. But we are on the right road.

“One way to understand why, with only three exceptions, all the House Democrats voted to keep funding Planned Parenthood is that in so doing, many of them voted to keep funding themselves. When we examine the issue of government funding of Planned Parenthood, we should also examine how Planned Parenthood funds the government through its contributions to politicians. The abortion industry is committed to propping up the campaigns of those who want to keep abortion legal.”

Priests for Life co-sponsoring Oct. 10 protest of Planned Parenthood

ProtestPP

FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE
Date: September 21, 2015

NEW YORK — Fr. Frank Pavone, National Director of Priests for Life, released the following statement this morning:

“Priests for Life is happy to be one of the national co-sponsors of the protests to take place simultaneously at hundreds of Planned Parenthood locations across the nation on Saturday, October 10. In a recent op-ed, I outlined the reasons.

“We who organize these protests are not a fringe group of fanatics. We represent the best of America, with compassion for those who feel they need to have an abortion — not because of freedom of choice but because they feel they have no freedom and no choice. We who protest also support, throughout the year, the thousands of pregnancy centers that provide alternatives to abortion.

“Moreover, we who reject abortion do not reject those who have abortions; rather, we embrace them with mercy, forgiveness, and healing. We who protest support the numerous programs for healing after abortion. At many of the protest sites, women and men of the Silent No More Awareness Campaign (www.SilentNoMore.com) will share their testimonies of pain and healing after abortion, and invite others to healing.

“We who protest also believe that America will not reject abortion until America sees abortion. At these protest sites, we will show the reality of what abortion is and of what Planned Parenthood does to these babies.

“Finally, we who protest believe that we have to elect public servants who know the difference between serving the public and killing the public. We will not hesitate to call people to exercise their civic responsibility, both by lobbying Congress and the states to defund Planned Parenthood, and by voting pro-life in next year’s elections.”

Circuit Split on HHS Mandate Good News for Priests for Life

NEW YORK — Father Frank Pavone, National Director of Priests for Life, issued the following statement regarding the mixed rulings from the federal courts on Obamacare’s HHS mandate and the unconstitutional burden the mandate places on religious non-profits.

“Given that there is now a circuit split regarding whether the HHS mandate accommodation for non-profit groups violates their religious freedom, it is more likely that the Supreme Court will have to decide that point. In our own case for Priests for Life, we have already petitioned the Supreme Court to hear our appeal.

“But no matter what happens – whether or not the Supreme Court decides to hear the case and whether or not it ultimately rules against us, Priests for Life will not obey this mandate.”

Dear Miss Tennessee

Friday, September 18th, 2015

150918 blog image

First, let’s give honor where honor is due and congratulate Miss Georgia, Betty Cantrell, on her being crowned Miss America 2016 and thank her for her performance of Tu Tu Piccolo Iddio from Madame Butterfly; such an inspiration.

While this whole blog could be about Ms. Cantrell’s remarkable accomplishments, there is yet a need to talk about another contestant, Miss Tennessee. See her response to MAP 2016 Judge Vanessa Williams’ question: “Some legislators are threatening to shut down the government over federal contributions to Planned Parenthood, even though no federal funds can be used for abortions. Should Planned Parenthood funding be cut off?”

The phrasing of the question based on PP propaganda that “even though no federal funds can be used for abortions” was seemingly a clever smoke screen. Everyone knows that funds are fluid. Federal tax-payer money can be used to fund their other health services leaving the way clear for PP to use regular donations to fund abortions. Let’s also not forget that they also spend millions of dollars to influence elections by supporting pro-abortion candidates and opposing pro-life candidates.

Maybe Ms. Williams isn’t part of the machine, and maybe she just read the question that was handed to her. Then, perhaps Miss Tennessee, Hannah Robison, knowingly or perhaps unwittingly parroted the lies that Planned Parenthood broadcasts on a regular basis. I’m willing to give the ladies the benefit of the doubt.

We do know who the usual suspects are – Planned Parenthood.

So the plot thickens. Ms. Robinson said: “I don’t think Planned Parenthood funding should be cut off. The $500 million that [is given] to Planned Parenthood every single year goes to female care. It goes for scanning for cancer, it goes for mammograms. And if we don’t give that funding to Planned Parenthood, those women will be out of health care for reproductive causes.”

Actually, Defunding Planned Parenthood will not mean that, as she said; ‘women will be out of health care for reproductive causes.’ The $500+ million Planned Parenthood would normally get would just be given to other health care providers that provide the same services, and more, that Planned Parenthood provides without providing the abortions. The only thing that wouldn’t be funded is abortions which, by law, are not supposed to fund anyway. See this video by Students for Life on this subject.

Ms. Robison also seems to believe that the money Planned Parenthood receives is spent on providing mammograms. Maybe she is unaware that in fact Planned Parenthood doesn’t provide mammograms as Planned Parenthood President, Cecile Richards, once claimed. Four years ago Live Action exposed Cecile’s lie in this video. Actually PP only makes referrals for mammograms. Women then have to go elsewhere and pay for their mammograms.

Sadly, with over 7 million viewing the Miss America Pageant, there are 7 million viewers now either coughing up the PP lies or choking on them. There are millions who are victims of the propaganda.

Dear Miss Tennessee, I hope this message sheds some light on the matter. There are so many, including me, who have been fed the lies. However, I once was blind, and now I see.

The issue is this: Planned Parenthood certainly will not correct the lies. They have too much invested in their propaganda, which is also linked to selling of baby body parts. So we have to set the captives free by speaking out. Let’s Pray for (Miss) America.
