21st Century Black Pro-Life Leaders Stand For Life, Riding The Crest Of The Third Wave

In his article Five Signs the Pro-Life Cause Is Winning, Trevin Wax, an editor at LifeWay, quotes John Ensor of Heartbeat International: “In the first wave, Catholics took the lead is declaring the inherent evil of abortion. Evangelicals then flooded in to help advance the pregnancy help movement. The Third Wave points to the victory of our movement and the downfall of abortion as a business, when Black and Hispanic Christians not only join this movement, but lead it.”

Trevin Wax says that the five signs that illustrate that the Pro-Life cause Is winning are 1) public opinion, 2) the media, 3) young people. 4) third wave, and 5) abortion advocates on the defense. Over the last few years I’ve done numerous blogs regarding each of these issues but I haven’t talked extensively about #4, the third wave.

I’ve been working very hard getting the word out to anyone that will listen that the African Americans and the Hispanic communities are the two groups most targeted by the abortion industry with the biggest target on the African Americans. I had a conversation with John Ensor a few years back discussing the third wave and the need for the Blacks and Hispanics to become more involved and become an integral part of the Pro-Life movement.

As the Director of African American Outreach with Priests for Life I am in constant communicates with other Pro-Life leaders as we strategize how best to change our culture of death into a culture of LIFE. Please visit our new website, National Black Prolife Coalition (NBPC) where you can see much of what we have been working on. We still have a long way to go before we are victorious.

The third wave just began and more and more Black leaders are becoming aware of the role they must play to help end abortion on demand. We also need to mobilize the Black pastors in our churches to help educate the community. The Black community by in large is pro-life but we too have been blinded by lies we have been told by Planned Parenthood and the abortion industry whose main goal is not the safety or concern of the minority women but the increase of their bottom line. They know that once the Black and Hispanic communities reject abortion as the immoral and evil it is, they will lose the majority of their clients.

As Trevin Wax rightly concludes, “The abortion debate will not go away. The fundamental issue at stake is not reproductive freedom but the desire to extend human rights to all — even the smallest and most vulnerable human beings among us. Those who continue to ignore or deny the humanity of the unborn are increasingly on the defensive because new technologies are opening the window into the womb. What we find there are not tissues to be discarded, but human lives worth protecting.”

Hmm I don’t particularly agree with you. African Americans aren’t the only ones “particularly” targeted by the so called abortion industry.
