February 1, 2011 (Atlanta, GA) In America today, almost as many African-American children are aborted as are born. A black baby is three times more likely to be aborted as a white baby. Although African-Americans make up about 13.4% of the U.S. population, abortion plagues almost 39 percent of African-American communities, nationwide. Statistically, for every 1.3 live births in the black community, 1 child is aborted. (1)
According to Life Dynamics, producers of the documentary “MAAFA21,” abortion has reduced the black population by over 25 percent since 1973. More than twice as many African-Americans have died from abortion than have died from AIDS, diabetes, violent crimes, cancer, and heart disease combined. Eighty percent of abortion facilities are located in minority neighborhoods. While only 13 percent of American women are black, over 35 percent have been lured into having abortions.
Due to these sobering statistics, VirtueMedia.org saw a crucial need to produce television commercials and a website called BlackDignity.org to educate the African-American community and general public about the dignity of every human life, specifically revealing the abortion industry’s targeting of minority communities.
VirtueMedia’s Black Dignity “man on the street” style commercial, created in partnership with MAAFA21, is beginning to combat the ‘culture of death’ by revealing the hidden agenda of Planned Parenthood and the abortion industry.
National pro-life spokesperson and activist, Dr. Alveda King (King for America), is collaborating on this initiative. The BlackDignity.org website also directs respondents to other authoritative resources including Learn, Inc.
In a nationwide TV campaign on BET and BET Centric, over 75 BlackDignity.org commercials aired coast to coast, educating millions of viewers and generating stunned responses:
“WOW! This is some true but shocking news!! Wake up my African American sister and brother!! Our community is falling right before our very eyes!!!!”
“First time I saw this ad I pressed rewind…..I couldn’t believe it. “
“We are doing just what society wants…making ourselves extinct.”
VirtueMedia Founder and President, Tom Peterson, states that, “We will continue to address this issue during Black History Month and beyond, utilizing the combined power of television and a strong digital media campaign.”
