The Greater Good, a Dream Unfolds

SPACER

Dr. Ben Carson has accepted what turns out to be another unconventional cabinet position offer from President-elect Donald Trump; that of HUD Secretary.

Dr. Carson wants to “make a significant contribution particularly by strengthening communities that are in need.” He has said: “We have much work to do in enhancing every aspect of our nation and ensuring that our nation’s housing needs are met.”

In light of all of this, I’m still watching, thinking and praying… At age 65 I’ve been dreaming of retirement. In the midst of that dream, I’m now considering that the President-elect and many of his silver haired appointees must have been dreaming of resting too at some point. Many of them have lived on this earth at least six or seven decades. Yet, they threw their hats in the ring with bigger dreams for a better world, a better quality of life for everyone [born and unborn].

Moses and Aaron were 80 and 83 when God sent them before Pharaoh. Apostle Paul was also no spring chicken at the height of his ministry…

If there’s anything to be learned in these history making moments, it’s that age is relative in the spiritual theme of things. God uses the young and old for His Divine Plans.

My dad, Rev. AD King, and my uncle, Rev. MLK, were both 39 when they were martyred in the 20th century Civil Rights Movement. Lord Jesus was around 33 at the time of His sacrificial crucifixion and resurrection. Yet as it’s already been pointed out, God also uses the aged in the “Big Picture.”

There’s an old song… We’ll Understand It Better By and By…

Honestly, many of us don’t know what’s around the corner [although God's genuine prophets have some divine insight; and even the soothsayers are trying to understand].

One thing is for sure; we need to keep praying.

“Trust in the LORD with all your heart; do not depend on your own understanding.” Proverbs 3:5

Fr. Pavone: “It’s Time to Act Like the Winners We Are”

Priests for Life building on Election Day Victories

NEW YORK — “We won!” stated Fr. Frank Pavone, National Director of Priests for Life, in reference to the elections, and Priests for Life is wasting no time to start using the opportunity that this victory presents for the unborn children.

Starting on the day after Election Day, Fr. Pavone and the team of Priests for Life began mobilizing and organizing grassroots pro-life activists to build on the victories won in the elections.

“We were joined by hundreds of activists as well as national pro-life leaders from across the country on an evening webcast we convened on Wednesday, November 9th. We have also begun reaching out to our friends in Congress, to start the process of implementing the next steps in protecting the unborn and shutting down the abortion industry.

“In particular, we will start immediately with an action alert to all our followers, asking them to thank the House leadership and the members of the Select Panel in Infant Lives for their work, and to express our desire to see that work continue in the 115th Congress.

“The Select Panel was one of the most important aspects of the work of the 114th Congress,” said Fr. Pavone. “With subpoena power, this panel is beginning to shed light on the practice of late-term abortion in the United States, and on the other ways in which the abortion industry is corrupt. There is more to uncover, and we look forward to working with the members of the panel until the job is done.”

The issue of late-term abortion, which the American public strongly opposes, was raised in the Presidential campaign and the debates, as it became clear that in contrast to the Republican party, which declares that “the unborn child has a fundamental right to life which cannot be infringed” (2016 platform) the Democratic party wants to do away with all regulations, no matter how reasonable, on abortion and has never seen an abortion it is willing to ban.

“The pro-life side won this election,” declared Fr. Pavone, “and now we intend to act like the winners we are. We are going to build on the momentum we have. The same wonderful grassroots people who helped win this election are now going to stay together, stay active, and actually implement the protection of the unborn that motivated us to vote in the first place. We’ve lived through eight years of the Obama regime and its unmitigated support of abortion. Now it’s our turn, and we’re not going to lose this opportunity to advance the protection of the unborn.

“Moreover, we will challenge Democratic elected officials — who with very few exceptions follow their pro-abortion party line — to stop hiding the extremism of their position and to describe what they defend. The last thing that abortion supporters want to discuss is abortion; they are afraid to tell the American people that the abortion procedure is dismemberment and decapitation. They don’t talk about the arms and legs being twisted off the bodies, or the skulls being removed in fragments. If they think abortion is such a great thing for America, they should at least have the honesty to tell people what it is. We certainly will, both with words and pictures and videos. As we begin to reverse the pro-abortion Democratic policies, we will continue to press this challenge: Describe what you defend,” promised Fr. Pavone.

In addition to working with Congress, Fr. Pavone and Executive Director Janet Morana continue, in their capacity as private citizens, to communicate with their colleagues alongside whom they served as members of the Pro-life Coalition and also the Catholic Advisory Group of the Trump Campaign.

Responding to Election Results, Evangelist Alveda King asks: “What’s Next?”

Wednesday, November 9th, 2016

161109 blog image - Trump praying

Staten Island, New York – “O clap your hands, all ye people; shout unto God with the voice of triumph.” Psalm 47:1

Amidst shouts of “we did it” in the victory of Mr. Donald Trump and others elected last night; and for some tears of frustration that some not so favorite candidates won and their favorites lost in the presidential, senate, house and gubernatorial bids, there is a voice calling from Heaven’s courts: “Come together in Agape Love for as the “One Blood” of Acts 17:26.”

“Shout to the LORD, all the earth; break out in praise and sing for joy! Let the hills sing out their songs of joy before the LORD, for he is coming to judge the earth. He will judge the world with justice and the nations with fairness.” Psalm 97

Let’s remember that God has the final say in who ascends to seats of power and who does not. God has decided the outcome. “We the People” have voted in 2016, advancing a shift for the sanctity of life, family and community. The election is over. Now what?

“Everyone must submit to governing authorities; for all authority comes from God, and those in positions of authority have been placed there by God. So anyone who rebels against authority is rebelling against what God has instituted, and they will be punished.” Romans 13:1-2

For “in spirit and in truth” Christians what happens moving ahead is our focus. Yesterday is now history.

At the turn of the century, America faced a crossroads. What would the new millennium bring to us? In many ways, for the first decade and subsequent years, until yesterday, America was embroiled in civil unrest. Infractions on moral values were strained past a point of endurance. Economic upheaval threatened to topple our economy. Racial tensions mounted. War loomed over our nation, threatening our very existence. That too is now history. Right now today, it is time to appeal to God for the healing of our nation. Men and women in leadership and all of the people in this nation and around the world do not have the power to accomplish this feat alone. Yet: “With God, all things are possible.” (Matthew 19:26)

The spiritual community must now keep praying, listening to and following, and obeying God. No matter what humans say, God has allowed Mr. Trump to rise thus far. What happens next is up to God.

“Don’t be misled [deceived] –you cannot mock the justice of God. You will always harvest [reap] what you [sow] plant.” Galatians 6:7

Finally, we must always remember that no human can save America or the world. Only the God of John 3:16 can do that! More will be revealed in the days ahead. During this shift of power, please pray for a peaceful transition among the governing branches of America and the world. Please pray that the people of faith in the God of Heaven and Earth become more committed in prayer and obedience to God.

Election 2016: Statement from Fr. Frank Pavone, National Director, Priests for Life

(See video message here.)

Today is a great day for America and the Church, and a debt of gratitude is owed to all who boldly spoke up, worked, and voted for pro-life candidates, starting with our new President-elect. I am grateful to all of you and our whole team for all the work of this long, contentious election cycle.

Our nation will now embark on a path to eliminate abortion and to foster the freedom of the Church. We will be able to advance such an agenda because of the pro-life majorities that now exist both in the House of Representatives and in the Senate.

In particular, this election victory means the end of the HHS mandate, against which Priests for Life was one of the first groups to launch a challenge in federal court. That challenge, joined by various dioceses and other groups, has gone all the way to the Supreme Court, and is still unresolved. Now, however, we see a bright light at the end of the tunnel.

Priests for Life will continue to be at the forefront of the pro-life efforts both within and beyond the Church – and by “pro-life” we mean specifically working to end abortion and restore protection to children in the womb.

We at Priests for Life – and I personally – welcome all who want join us. We are an open book, and we renew the invitation which we have extended multiple times in the past to all clergy and laity, to come and visit us and learn more about what we do and how we do it.

For what we do, we face much opposition and even hostility. We are not concerned about any of the criticism that has been launched against us, whether from within or outside the Church. Such opposition is a way of life for those who actively work to end abortion. Opposition and criticism do not burden me or my team at all, because there is a far greater burden every single day our minds and hearts: the continued slaughter of thousands of children every day by abortion.

Added to that burden is the silence of so many laity and clergy, and countless faithful have had enough of that.

We have no dispute with anyone who wants to end abortion, but only with those – such as the majority of Democratic politicians – who want to hide it and allow it to continue. For many years, and right up to this Election Day, many of the attacks launched against me and my organization have been motivated by partisan politics, and in particular by Democratic supporters who know the damage our work does to their abortion agenda. We are proud to endure those attacks and, as has happened in this election, we will continue to be victorious.

Prepare for Post-Election Impact

Vote Pro-life Uncle Sam

Uppermost in our hearts and prayers today should be the reality that America is in God’s hands. In a few hours we will know the outcome of this election.

Last week during the furor and fray of the election, while praying that division and damage would not permanently mar relationships between family members, church members, friends, co-workers and communities, I clearly “heard” these words: “Brace yourselves.” Prayerfully, as we continue to pray for the best we are preparing for the outcome, come what may.

As I write this report, I’m getting flashbacks from earth’s heroes, military captains and even starship commanders from many favorite films; all saying: “Prepare for impact!”

Now it’s almost as if I can hear my grandfather Rev. Martin Luther King, Sr.’s sermon as he assured us during the 20th century Civil Rights Movement that God would be with us, even as we were “Coming in on Broken Pieces.”

“…Some on boards… some on broken pieces… So it came to pass, that they escaped all safe to land.” Acts 27:44 (KJV)

Let’s pray for America and brace ourselves, remembering to vote for life in all elections. Vote today if you haven’t voted yet. Be a voice and not an echo.

Finally, let’s be encouraged by the words of Apostle Paul as he was inspired by God’s Holy Spirit in Colossians 1:20-29 (MSG):

“… The broken and dislocated pieces of the universe … get properly fixed and fit together in vibrant harmonies, all because of his [Jesus Christ's] death, his blood that poured down from the Cross… Don’t walk away from a gift like that! …Stay grounded… not …distracted or diverted… There’s a lot of suffering to be entered into in this world – the kind of suffering Christ takes on… This mystery has been kept in the dark for a long time… now it’s out in the open. God wanted everyone… to know this rich and glorious secret inside and out, regardless of their background, regardless of their religious standing. The mystery in a nutshell is just this: Christ is in you; therefore you can look forward to sharing in God’s glory… That is the substance of our Message. We teach in a spirit of profound common sense so that we can bring each person to maturity. To be mature is to be basic. Christ! No more, no less.”

Father Pavone and Alveda King Urge Voters to Get to the Polls

FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE

NEW YORK — On the final day of what seemed like the longest and most acrimonious election season in history, Father Frank Pavone, National Director of Priests for Life, and Alveda King, director of Civil Rights for the Unborn for Priests for Life, urged voters to get themselves, and as many others as possible, to the polls for today’s election.

“Today we are voting on the direction our nation will take for the next generation,” said Father Pavone. “This election can go either way, and I urge every voter to use his or her vote to advance the culture of life, as our bishops have urged us.”

Father Pavone noted that exit polls can be interesting but are not necessarily accurate.

“No voter should be swayed one way or another by an exit poll suggesting their candidate will win or lose,” he said. “Democracy only works when we participate and are undeterred.”

Evangelist King noted that the lives of millions of unborn children both here and abroad are at stake.

“A pro-abortion candidate will immediately move to fund abortion overseas and will try to eliminate the law that keeps taxpayers from having to fund abortion,” she said. “Euthanasia proponents also will be empowered to spread their toxic ideology. But pro-lifers have a chance, at the polls, to protect Americans from the womb to the tomb.”

On behalf of the entire Priests for Life Pastoral Team, Father Pavone and Ms. King urged voters to “Be a voice, not an echo. Vote pro-life now. And join us today in praying for our nation at www.ElectionPrayer.com.”

Majority of voters in online poll choose pro-life as most important issue

Monday, November 7th, 2016

priests_for_life_logo_transparent

FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE
Date: November 7, 2016

Contact: Leslie Palma
347-286-7277

NEW YORK — Fifty-two percent of voters who took part in a Priests for Life online poll last week said pro-life is a priority as they vote.

A total of 2,227 people responded to the poll, which asked them to identify – by an open question rather than multiple choice – the top issue that will influence their vote, and whether they intend to vote Democrat or Republican.

Of that total, 1,173, or 52.6 said the pro-life issue was their number one priority.

Other issues that were listed as priorities included traditional marriage and religious freedom.

More than 81 percent, or 1,818 people, said they intend to vote Republican.

“I think these results bode well for our country,” said Father Frank Pavone, National Director of Priests for Life. “In many past elections, polling conducted by the National Right to Life Committee has shown that a significant portion of the electorate takes the abortion issue as a major consideration in casting their vote, and that of those who do so, pro-life people outvote abortion supporters by a two to one margin. Our poll is not a scientific one (it is based simply on an email subscription list), but the findings are consistent.”

Viewing the Election from a Prophetic Vantage Point

Wednesday, November 2nd, 2016

Three Headed Monster Revised3

While Christian leaders are still taking sides in the current elections there is yet a non-partisan place in the spirit where we can speak justice and mercy to all, including to all candidates.

Open letters are useful from various vantage points. I’ve signed a few myself.

We need help.

Speaking prophetically:

Consider Vashti and Esther:
Two women, living in a system of female oppression in a harem. When married to the king, they responded to a crisis from two vantage points. We learn from Vashti that indignation without prayer ends in short-circuited justice. Vashti responded with emotions. Esther prayed and sought divine solutions, and won justice for herself and her people.

Consider Sarah and Hagar:
A wife and concubine in competition started the longest family feud in history. While both of their sons by Abraham received God’s blessing, the battle over being the bloodline for the earthly entry of the Messiah has caused a rift that needs the healing power of Agape.

A Civil Rights Lens:

Consider Michelle and Hillary:

Michelle-Hillary-Hugging

As the daughter of former slaves and a daughter of former slave owners, they embrace the pro- abortion agenda. It’s no coincidence that they are married to two of America’s most powerful icons.

“I have a dream that one day on the red hills of Georgia, the sons of former slaves and the sons of former slave owners will be able to sit together at the table of brotherhood.” MLK (sons and daughters/humanhood – One Blood/Acts 17:26)

Yet how can the dream survive if we murder the children? As we connect the dots, racism, reproductive genocide, poverty and sexual perversion are common enemies that must be defeated.

In this election cycle we are coming full circle, facing a deep wound in the wombs of the women of America. The Barren and Post-Abortive Woman, Vashti and Hagar must be healed; and Queen Esther and Sarah must fast and pray as America returns to God.

“Sing, O barren one, who did not bear; break forth into singing and cry aloud, you who have not been in labor! For the children of the desolate one will be more than the children of her who is married,” says the Lord. – Isaiah 54

“Fear not, for you will not be ashamed; be not confounded, for you will not be disgraced; for you will forget the shame of your youth, and the reproach of your widowhood you will remember no more. For your Maker is your husband, the Lord of hosts is his name; and the Holy One of Israel is your Redeemer, the God of the whole earth he is called… Isaiah 54

The struggle now is to rise above the emotional fray and pray according to this excerpt from Charisma Magazine:

[We as] “Christians are not given the option of letting their [our] disagreement with their [our] political leaders prevent [us] them from praying for those leaders. The apostle Peter wrote that believers are to “submit yourselves to every human authority for the Lord’s sake, whether it be to the king, as supreme, or to governors, as sent by him for the punishment of evildoers and to praise those who do right. … Honor all people. Love the brotherhood. Fear God. Honor the king” (1 Pet. 2:13-14, 17).

Similarly, Paul wrote to Timothy, “Therefore I exhort first of all that you make supplications, prayers, intercessions, and thanksgivings for everyone, for kings and for all who are in authority, that we may lead a quiet and peaceful life in all godliness and honesty, for this is good and acceptable in the sight of God our Savior” (1 Tim. 2:1-3).

“For if you keep silent at this time, relief and deliverance will rise for the Jews from another place, but you and your father’s house will perish. And who knows whether you have not come to the kingdom for such a time as this?” Easter 4:14

Where are the prophetic voices that rise above politics? The generations now and ahead are hanging in the balance:

“All your children shall be taught by the Lord, and great shall be the peace of your children. In righteousness you shall be established; you shall be far from oppression, for you shall not fear; and from terror, for it shall not come near you. If anyone stirs up strife, it is not from me; whoever stirs up strife with you shall fall because of you.” Isaiah 54

The struggle continues. With repentance; forgiveness one to another and for ourselves; and faith, Agape Love, we shall overcome. Pray for America.
