SPACER
Black Jesus“Come to me, all you who are weary and burdened, and I will give you rest. Take my yoke upon you and learn from me, for I am gentle and humble in heart, and you will find rest for your souls. For my yoke is easy and my burden is light.” – Matthew 11:28-30

Many times we talk to God. broken and despairing. We can sometimes feel that we are so unlovable that even God will not receive us. Beloved, this is not true. He is waiting with open arms. Seek His healing and forgiveness. I did.

Build Your Hope On Things Eternal…

Wednesday, December 12th, 2012

SPACER
In the Catholic Tradition, a Holy Day of Obligation is a very important day; so important that no attending mass on a Holy Day of Obligation is a very serious sin. Although not Catholic, the 40 Days till MLK 2013: The Holy Day of Inauguration is a very important time of prayer, fasting and repentence.

1. The True Light is Already Shining – 1 John 2:8
2. “Be not overcome with evil; rather overcome evil with good.” Romans 12:21
3. “Some trust in chariots and some in horses, but we trust in the name of the LORD our God”. Psalm 20:7

Dear Friends, This announcement regarding the Holy Day of Inauguration came to me this week, right while I am currently meditating on why people were so saddened by the November 2012 elections. Our hope comes from God and not horses and chariots or politicians or judges or presidents. So many scriptures keep jumping out while I’m reading and studying and seeking God for “what’s next?” Admittedly, the President of the United States is on a slippery slope, and a majority of voters agreed enough with his agenda to re-elect him and are seemingly sliding along the slope with him in some sort of weird bliss. Doesn’t this mean that those who voted for the President are also responsible for the sorry state that we are in? He is the political leader of this nation, and a majority seems to have voted for him. Yet God is still our refuge and our strength, and a very present help in trouble.

Some of us are groaning and reeling; yet there are many who are turning with greater commitment to 2 Chronicles 7:14, thank goodness. Let’s hate the source of the evil, the devil that is, and not hate and war with each other.

We must continue to pray and seek the Lord. Interestingly enough, the Martin Luther King, Jr. Holiday and the Inauguration of the President are on the same day. Again, we must be praying and seeking the Lord according to 2 Chronicles 7:14.

Actually, January 21, 2013 is another pivotal day in our lives. It is the day of the Birthday Celebration Observance of my uncle, Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr.; the day before the nefarious 40 year observance of Roe vs. Wade which has allowed for the murder of over 50 million human babies, and President Obama will be sworn in for the second time that day. Let us all pray for mercy, for the dregs of judgment are very bitter. Our country is being judged as are we. Let us pray and ask for forgiveness and forgive each other and just move ahead expecting our God to deliver us!

Want to be blessed during these monumental and tumultuous times? Do something good for someone. Send some Bibles to people who need them. Take back Christmas by singing Christ affirming carols at unexpected places. Help someone have Christmas whose outlook is bleak right now. Read them the Bible accounts of the miracle of Jesus when you deliver their gifts.

Look up and look ahead to God, for surely He alone is able to deliver us!

National Call to Action!!!

Saturday, December 1st, 2012

A message from my good friend, Day Gardner

“Take Back Christmas” Project – Even though Mary became an un-wed mother in a very difficult time, God had specific plans for her baby—and He still has specific plans for each and every baby. Therefore, we are organizing participation of a thousand (or more) churches across the Nation to be very deliberate in holding biblical events this coming and every Christmas with heavy focus on the birth of Jesus celebrations.

We are also asking for each church to organize events in public areas such as traditional Christmas caroling hailing the birth of Jesus. We are also providing and producing support pieces on Facebook, Twitter, Email and YouTube videos.

Our hope is less Santa, Frosty and Rudolph—More Jesus!

Alveda and I — after this depressing election season felt it would be great to do something really uplifting and something ALL Christians can support!

Are you interested in helping us take back CHRISTmas?

Part One:
“Flash Mob” Christmas Caroling

We are planning “flash mob (FM) Christmas caroling”. Here’s the thing…songs only about Jesus–NO Frosty, NO Rudolph, NO Santa and NO Christmas tree or chestnut songs.

We are asking the “FM” to sing 10 songs – One verse only “always beginning” with O Come All Ye Faithful ( as a call to action)—”always ending” with Silent Night (to signify the end). (Approx time: 15-20 minutes)

Let’s make it fun!

Ask everyone to wear something red (ex:) a red coat or hat or scarf or gloves–or just carry a red bag!!!

Good thing is — no rehearsals needed!!!
No baby sitters needed!!! Bring the kids!!!

We will provide an email list of ten songs with the words included to the first verse of each song.

We are hoping churches, individuals, family and friends will do one or more of these in different locations in the week leading up to Christmas.

We have other ideas and would like to hear yours–so, are you with us???!!

Merry CHRISTmas!!!!
Day and Alveda

Heading Into The Holidays

Tuesday, November 20th, 2012

Dear Friends, this week we will celebrate an American Tradition, Thanksgiving Day. It is a time to set aside the daily rush and routines and give thanks to God for all that He does for us. We should enjoy time with friends, family, or maybe even just alone with God. Right after Thanksgiving comes Christmas, the time to celebrate the birth of our Lord Jesus Christ. Of course, we should thank God every day and also celebrate Jesus every day. So as we approach these days, let’s just remain thankful, and remember to pray for human dignity and the right to be born and die a natural death. God bless you.

African American Outreach Prayer

Friday, November 16th, 2012

ABBA Father, dear Creator God,

In your Word you command us to pray

For all who serve you in public office,

That we may lead peaceful lives.

We intercede for those in the offices of

President of the United States,

In the Congressional Black Caucus,

And in federal, state, county and local offices.

We ask for a new outpouring of your Spirit,

The Spirit of truth and life,

The Spirit of repentance and conversion,

The Spirit of courage and grace;

Let peace and love abound,

For ourselves and for those holding political offices.

May we be instruments of Your Holy Spirit

And witnesses of the Gospel of Jesus Christ.

In which alone we find hope for our nation and the world.

We ask this in Jesus’ Name, Amen.

-Written by Father Frank Pavone and Dr. Alveda King

Another African American Pastor Speaks Up for Life!

Friday, October 5th, 2012

Pastor Walter S. Moss has published a booklet, “Why I Am a Black Pro-Life Pastor.” Recommended reading. For copies of this powerful message, contact Pastor Moss at Walt11111@aol.com.

Pastor Moss joins the growing ranks of African Americans who are speaking out and up for life and marriage and Bible values. African Americans are fighting for LIFE AT ALL COSTS. At http://stow.ohio.com/news/pastors-address-abortion-in-the-african-american-community-1.327845 Moss is cited as saying: “We need to know what’s going on with our people and we need to be able to help them with whatever they’re going through,” Moss said. “In dealing with the issue of abortion, we need to be ready with information to help women better understand all of their options, including adoption. We need to embrace those who have already had abortions and let them know that we love them and that God loves them. Abortion, like so many issues facing our community, has become political. It’s time we stood up, as pastors, with the support, resources and help that our people need to make a well-informed, moral decision.”

Sunday, October 7th is Pulpit Freedom Sunday. Many pastors accross america are going to speak up to protect and promote the rights of our churches. The future of religious freedom depends on a free pulpit to communicate fundamental, biblical principles to congregations across America. These bold pastors will preach biblical Truth about candidates and elections from their pulpits.

We need to implement a movement where pastors across America will preach moral values to their congregations, not in a condemning way but in a loving Christ-like way. Just as Pulpit Freedom Sunday seeks to protect our religious freedom, this movement would seek to protect our very souls. Many in today’s society are making uninformed moral decisions because those who have received a calling to minister and to inform God’s people are failing in their responsibilities.

We need to pray for our religious leaders that God will guide them and that they will choose to obey God and speak the truth.

Our Circles of Influence

Wednesday, September 12th, 2012

2 Corinthians 2:16-18 …So that we may preach the gospel in lands beyond you, without boasting of work already done in another’s area of influence. “Let the one who boasts, boast in the Lord.” For it is not the one who commends himself who is approved, but the one whom the Lord commends…

Sometimes people say to me: “Alveda, you are a famous celebrity. Everyone will listen to you.” Well, friends, actually I am more a warrior for Jesus than a celebrity. And yes, God has blessed me to reach a lot of people with a voice of truth for life. Yet, I don’t speak to everyone.

Actually, everyone has influence. We all, each and every one of us has a “circle of influence.” Paul speaks of one another’s areas of influence in 2 Corinthians. Our circle of influence is our immediate family, then our relatives, then our coworkers and church community, and then our social circles, and so forth.

We can all use our influence to win souls to the Kingdom of God and of His Christ, to introduce them to the Holy Spirit. And then, we can share the prolife and pro-family message.

Use your influence with confidence. It is a gift from God!

Married Bishop advocating for abortion of his baby so that he can be promoted? Married Black preacher giving women HIV? What does the Bible say?

Tuesday, September 11th, 2012

Do these unfortunate and embarrassing accounts (married Bishop & married preacher) give us a clue as to why the Church is majorly silent on abortion and homosexual marriage? Praise God for standard bearers who fear God and not man. How do we break the power of the devil on this thing? Love never fails, and we are not to touch God’s anointed, but even David cried out to God when Saul was persecuting him. I’m wondering if we shouldn’t say or do something like this?

Hold them accountable to the Word of God in love.

The Church – not the Black Church or the White Church, not the Protestant or the Catholic Church (because this stench is rising in many churches) – THE CHURCH is strangely silent while our nation is drowning; choking on the blood of the innocents and dismantling natural marriage one bite at a time. Could it be that the church leaders are embroiled in so many sexual sins, that their voices are stifled by guilt by association?

We recently witnessed a comedic drama at a political convention where people were voting whether to attempt to keep God out of a platform or put God back in the platform. It was such a travesty in that though the majority of voices in the audio voted were yelling no don’t put God back in, the officiating member called the vote a yes, and the word God was returned to the plank. I cautiously say “the word” God because the true and living GOD can’t be bantered around by such shameless antics as we viewed last week.

We know that nobody is perfect, and that all have sinned and fallen short of the glory of God. So, we are not pointing fingers here. What we must ask ourselves is this: are our Church leaders weakened by fear and guilt of not wanting to reveal their personal battles of the flesh? Is this why so many are silent regarding the issues of sexual perversion and abortion and artificial contraceptives?

Is anyone considering that the political plank advancing homosexual marriage is opening the door for many other types of liaisons that may prove harmful to society as a whole?

There is room at the Cross of Jesus for everyone, and Church leaders are not exempt from the devil’s wiles. Neither are Church leaders exempt from the commandments of GOD and definitely Church leaders (and political leaders we might add) need salvation, repentance and God’s love just like we all do.

This is not a Black/White problem. Remember the misfortunes of say Ted Haggard and Eddie Long? The world was kinder to these two men than was the Church. Are we saying that they shouldn’t be called to accountability? No. But love and mercy overcome judgment. If and when people fall and then repent, they should be restored. Until they repent, they should be removed from positions of authority, but they should not be condemned by accusers who have also sinned and fallen short of God’s grace.

We’re not putting these people on blast here. The media has already done that. We are putting everyone on notice: These are perilous times, and we all need a lot of prayer! Even Paul in the Bible, after admonishing the people for overlooking sexual perversion, came back and told the Church to restore the repentant man so that he would know that God loves even a sinner:

1 Corinthians 5: Expel the Immoral Brother!

It is actually reported that there is sexual immorality among you, and of a kind that does not occur even among pagans: A man has his father’s wife. And you are proud! Shouldn’t you rather have been filled with grief and have put out of your fellowship the man who did this? Even though I am not physically present, I am with you in spirit. And I have already passed judgment on the one who did this, just as if I were present. When you are assembled in the name of our Lord Jesus and I am with you in spirit, and the power of our Lord Jesus is present, hand this man over to Satan, so that the sinful nature may be destroyed and his spirit saved on the day of the Lord.

Forgiveness for the Offender

2 Corinthians 2: If anyone has caused grief, he has not so much grieved me as he has grieved all of you to some extent—not to put it too severely. The punishment inflicted on him by the majority is sufficient. Now instead, you ought to forgive and comfort him, so that he will not be overwhelmed by excessive sorrow. I urge you, therefore, to reaffirm your love for him. Another reason I wrote you was to see if you would stand the test and be obedient in everything. Anyone you forgive, I also forgive. And what I have forgiven—if there was anything to forgive—I have forgiven in the sight of Christ for your sake, in order that Satan might not outwit us. For we are not unaware of his schemes.

What we are after is not eternal damnation, but rather the salvation of those who fall; so we must first rebuke, then once repentance comes, we must forgive, comfort, love and restore. We must rise above the tendency of human nature that holds the accused at arm’s length; to say we forgive but never let the accused forget; to say “I receive you back” but to treat the person like a diseased germ. Self-pious, sanctimonious and inflexible treatment of those who stumble leaves no place for repentance and reconciliation. This is not the ministry of Jesus Christ who had mercy on the woman caught in the act and the woman at the well. The scandal we create by errantly cutting off the offenders from the Church it is no less a scandal created by the penitent sinner in the first place. To errantly remove the offender from all hope of re-entry into the comfort and security of the fellowship of the redeemed community is just as injurious as it is to permit blatant perversion to continue unpunished in the Body of Christ.

All of this would be just too sad if we didn’t have the Name and Blood of Jesus. May God help us all.

Young Black Woman Speaks the Truth Regarding Life Against Great Adversity.

Monday, August 20th, 2012

Galatians 4:16 – “Have I become your enemy because I am telling you the truth.”

A dear friend of mine sent me an email with this message.

“Here is a courageous young women standing for the word of God against abortion at a local community meeting full of opposition. Bravo Charita! Tell the truth and shame the devil. May God give you speed. Send it to your friends. Pray for Charita.”

See video HERE

It takes a lot of courage to do what Charita did. The Black community needs people to “fear not” and to stand up for the word of God expecially in times such as these. Do you have the courage to do the right thing?
