Washington, DC – Fr. Frank Pavone and Priests for Life, the organization he leads, applauded today the announcement of Congressman Trent Franks (AZ-08) of a bill that would outlaw abortions nationwide after 20 weeks of development, when the scientific evidence is strongest that babies have the ability to feel pain.

“For the last few years, Priests for Life has strongly supported this type of legislation in the states, and has conducted an educational campaign called ‘Stop D and E’ (see StopDandE.com). ‘D and E’ refers to the Dilation and Evacuation procedure, that is, dismemberment abortion, which would be the most commonly used second trimester method of killing babies. With the introduction of this legislation, and building on the momentum of the state laws, the educational campaign, and the revelations of the Gosnell tragedy, we have more reason than ever to focus on this strategic goal, and more hope than ever that it will succeed,” Fr. Frank said.

“Make no mistake: the abortion industry and their cheerleaders do not want us talking about D and E abortions. They would much prefer we talk about abortions in the earliest stages of pregnancy. With these new developments, they should feel more uncomfortable than ever. The focus now is going to be late-term abortion, until it is ended in this country,” Fr. Frank concluded.

Working Together is a Win-Win Situation

Working Together

The following report is proof positive that when we stay in our lanes and do our best work and respect others who are on different pages in the same book, leaders get bolder and are more willing to approach all or nothing based on successful advances.

Kansas State Representative Steve Brunk said Friday after the passage of the omnibus pro-life bill, “There are a growing number of legislators who want to explore the practicality of moving toward fetal heartbeat as opposed to the incremental approach.” House Judiciary Chairman Lance Kinzer, a pro-life leader in the legislature, added, “We’re at a point of re-evaluation. We’re now looking at a different agenda because so much of what we wanted to be accomplished, will be accomplished.”

Analysis: Kan. abortion foes’ wins create dilemma

TOPEKA, Kan. (AP) — Kansas has enacted a wave of stricter abortion laws in the two-plus years Republican Gov. Sam Brownback has been in office, but those successes have led abortion opponents to discuss changing their tactics, unsure about what initiatives they’ll pursue next.

Thirty-two Kansas House members are sponsoring a proposed ban on most abortions as soon as a fetal heartbeat can be detected, which can occur as early as the sixth week of pregnancy, and the idea has the backing of the anti-abortion group Operation Rescue. Nine of those House members also were sponsors of a previous “personhood” amendment to the state constitution aimed at banning all abortions, declaring that the constitution protects the rights of individual starting at fertilization.

Kansas not only bans most abortions starting at the 22nd week of pregnancy, but . . .

Fr. Frank Pavone’s Statement on Republican Platform Committee’s Abortion Plank

Wednesday, August 22nd, 2012

Priests for Life National Director Fr. Frank Pavone today issued the following statement on the abortion plank approved by the Republican Platform Committee.

“Priests for Life is grateful to those who have served on the platform committee for the Republican Party for reaffirming the truth that ‘the unborn child has a fundamental individual right to life which cannot be infringed.’ A declaration like this goes far beyond party politics and national boundaries. It affirms the very purpose of government and an essential condition of civilized society – a purpose and condition which, to our alarm, has been forgotten by some parties and public officials.

“After pointing to the essential principle of the right to life, the statement further points to concrete steps that can be taken now to more fully implement that principle. In particular, the issue of protecting children who feel pain is one that the public should consider. The Humane Slaughter Act protects animals from unnecessary pain. To do any less for children is not only a policy failure, but a basic failure to act as human beings.

“As we have done in past election cycles, Priests for Life will issue a non-partisan comparison of the party platforms once they are approved by their respective Conventions.”

A Word to “Pro-Choice” lawmakers: The Voters are Watching

STATEN ISLAND, NY – Father Frank Pavone, National Director of Priests for Life, issued the following statement regarding Tuesday’s House vote on the D.C. Pain Capable Unborn Child Protection Act, H.R. 3803, which called for a ban on abortions after 20 weeks in the District of Columbia.

“As he led the debate against the D.C. Pain Capable Unborn Child Act last evening, Rep. John Conyers warned his pro-abortion colleagues that Planned Parenthood and NARAL would be scoring the vote.

“The act did not garner the necessary two-thirds vote to pass, but I would like to issue a warning of my own to those who opposed the bill: The American people will be keeping score as well, and they will remember in the voting booth the politicians who are so afraid of the powerful abortion lobby that they voted down an effort to save fully formed babies from the unimaginable pain of being torn limb from limb.

“An overwhelming majority of Americans are against late-term abortion and they will demand that their lawmakers have the integrity to represent them, rather than bowing to Planned Parenthood and NARAL.”

Priests for Life Welcomes Arizona Decision on Late-Term Abortion

Tuesday, July 31st, 2012

FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE

347-286-7277

STATEN ISLAND, NY – Father Frank Pavone, National Director of Priests for Life, issued the following statement today regarding the decision of a federal court to uphold a ban on abortion after 20 weeks in Arizona.

“Priests for Life welcomes the decision of Judge James Teilborg regarding the Arizona law protecting children from painful dismemberment,” Father Pavone said. “Priests for Life vigorously supports similar laws in other states and the law that will be voted on today in Congress regarding protecting children in the District of Columbia.”

In the Arizona case, Judge Teilborg ruled that the law set to go into effect tomorrow is constitutional because it does not prohibit women from having abortions. He also noted in his decision that the state had provided “substantial and well-documented” evidence that a child at 20 weeks’ gestation or later has the capacity to feel pain.

“On an educational level, Priests for Life is bringing to the public’s attention the ‘D and E’ dismemberment abortion (see www.StopDandE.com).” Father Pavone said. “The abortion debate should not be so abstract that we forget we’re talking about pulling the arms and legs off of babies. To those asking for our vote in November, I ask, do you or do you not think dismemberment should be legal? Every voter should ask the same.”

Priests for Life Team to Walk the Halls of Congress

Thursday, June 14th, 2012

FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE
Date: June 14, 2012

347-286-7277

WASHINGTON, D.C. – Four members of the Priests for Life Pastoral Team will walk the halls of Congress later this month to encourage legislators to advance three pro-life bills.

The Pain Capable Unborn Child Protection Act (HR 3803) would forbid abortions past 20 weeks in the District of Columbia, except to save the life of the mother. The Child Interstate Abortion Notification Act (HR 2299) would allow for prosecution of those who help an underage girl who resides in a state with parental notification or consent laws to cross state lines or national borders to obtain an abortion. The Telemedicine Safety Act (HR 5731) seeks to protect taxpayers from subsidizing so-called telemed or webcam abortions and outlaw such procedures when performed on an interstate basis. All three bills await further action in the House of Representatives.

On June 26 and 27, Father Frank Pavone, National Director of Priests for Life; Father Denis Wilde, OSA, associate director of Priests for Life; Father Victor Salomon, director of Hispanic Outreach, and Dr. Alveda King, director of African-American Outreach, will visit key members of Congress to discuss and encourage action on the three bills.

“In a representative government, it is vital for lawmakers to hear directly from their constituents, and all interested Americans, particularly the clergy” said Father Pavone. “In the past we have found these discussions to be a very effective way for us to serve as the voice of the unborn. Everyone can serve as that voice by contacting their legislators and urging action on these bills.”

Fibromyalgia, Abortion and artificial/invasive birth control chemicals and procedures… Really?

Wednesday, June 13th, 2012

Psychiatrist and researcher Dr. Philip Ney relates the story of a patient of his who developed fibromyalgia, which causes chronic pain without any apparent cause. He found that she had undergone an abortion just before this pain began, and since then, has developed a theory that in some cases, the pain of fibromyalgia may in fact be caused by chemicals released by the aborted baby’s flesh when it is torn apart. These chemicals cross the placenta, and lodge in the mother’s nervous system. In reality, she is feeling not her own pain, but that of her aborted child. We have not yet begun to understand all the implications of abortion, and of how destroying a child in the womb destroys the rest of us.

Let’s pray that our society may forsake abortion and find healing.
