#IStand4Life Perry

With the passage of HB2, a bill that would ban abortions after 20 weeks, in the Texas State House of Representatives, the bill now goes to the Senate where a vote should take place later this week or beginning of next week.

In spite of State Senator Wendy Davis’ eleven hour filibuster the bill moves closer to approval after Texas Governor Rick Perry called a second special session in order to get pro-life legislation approved.

I stand 4 life with Texans and other pro-lifers who are fighting to protect the lives of the pre-born and their mothers. Medical evidence shows that a baby can feel pain at 5 months of development. Putting aside the fact that abortion is the killing of a human life and should be illegal, abortion of a baby at 20 weeks (5 months) by ripping her limb by limb is something that every person should be against.

Additionally, the further along in a pregnancy the woman is, the higher the risk of the abortion. Protecting women from high risk abortions that have resulted in the deaths of hundreds of women is also something that every person should be fighting for.

That only makes sense.

We have regulations to protect society from unscrupulous doctors in other medical fields, from deceitful auto mechanics, from fly-by-night home contractors, from scheming pyramid salesmen. The government seems to be interested in protecting society from all forms of abuses except when it comes to the abortion industry.

When it comes to the abortion industry, protection seems to be the word of the day. The abortion industry uses its millions of dollars to buy themselves protection from restrictions on abortion, from regulations of abortion, from prosecution of wrongdoing. When it comes to abortion, money talks.

The fact that a woman would stand and talk for eleven hours to stop this bill that would protect human life, both unborn and their mothers, only serves to confirm that abortion is evil. This was further confirmed during a recent peaceful prayer vigil by pro-lifers in which pro-aborts chanted “Hail Satan” as pro-lifers sang Amazing Grace.

Are pro-aborts getting that desperate that they are no longer hiding the fact that abortion is a product of Satan? Are the people of America going to ever wake up to this fact?

It’s time for America and the world to repent of the sin of abortion and turn back to God. It’s time we begin to value all life as the gift God intended it to be.

I STAND 4 LIFE! Please stand with me.

Three college students interning with the Priests for Life Youth Outreach Department are on the ground in Austin as the Texas Legislature prepares to vote today on an historic bill that would protect babies from abortion after 5 months into the pregnancy and require abortion clinics to be more diligent in protecting women.

“We are starting to see chinks in the armor of the abortion industry as more and more laws are passed to protect innocent human life, and Texas is a great example of this” said Bryan Kemper, Youth Outreach Director for Priests for Life. “We stand with Texas as they make advances against ‘big abortion’ and move towards ending the deadly industry.”

Priests for Life and its Youth Outreach, Stand True, have been on the front lines of the battle in Texas both as part of the social media blitz taking place as well as having boots on the ground.

David Rosa, a spokesman for the Silent No More Awareness Campaign and a resident of San Antonio, testified before a Senate committee yesterday in Austin to promote the message that men who take part in an abortion often find they regret their lost fatherhood. He told the panel how that regret led to a downward spiral in his life, and how he sought healing to be able to forgive himself. (The Silent No More Awareness Campaign is a project of Priests for Life and Anglicans for Life.)

“We have the votes in this committee, in the Senate and in the House,” said Rosa. “This bill should pass.”

Rosa’s 16-year-old son Daniel also testified in favor of the bill.

Dr. Alveda King, director of African-American Outreach for Priests for Life, has no doubt that her uncle, Rev. Martin Luther King Jr., would be in Austin today fighting for the unborn.

“Abortion is the civil rights battle of today,” Dr. King said. “My uncle’s heart would be broken that even as America celebrated its Independence Day last week, the babies are still not free.”

Father Frank Pavone, National Director of Priests for Life, said that whether supporters are in Austin or elsewhere, all are asked to join Priests for Life in a special Prayer for Texas, which can be found at ProLifePrayers.com.

“Our prayers, and the actions they inspire, will bring progress in Texas and around the nation,” said Father Pavone, who is a priest of the Amarillo, TX diocese. “We thank God for the Governor of Texas, his team, the pro-life legislators, and our colleagues in the many pro-life groups in Texas. Onward to victory, together and under God!”

Black Leaders Davis, Gardner and King Say Method of Conception Exceptions is a Smoke Screen

FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE

In an urgent Juneteenth message, Black Pro-Life women say “America can’t truly be free until Black, Brown and poor women and their babies are free.”

Speaking for a growing army of women, the leaders say: “Representative Trent Franks, a stalwart supporter of life, offered a pain capable bill to prevent abortions after the fifth month of pregnancy. Immediately, pro-abortion advocates trotted out their stale arguments that banning abortions after the fifth month will somehow jeopardize the health of rape and incest victims as well as women whose health is “endangered by the pregnancy.”

Every time a pro-life Legislator takes steps to rein in the out of control abortion industry, pro-abortion women attack, repeatedly making these claims. Omitted from the discussion is the impact abortion has on the woman who exercises her choice in the 5th, 6th, 7th, and as we learned in the Gosnell trial sometimes 8th or 9th month of pregnancy. It is time we had that discussion.

“Congressman Franks stated that the incidence of rape resulting in pregnancies that are aborted in the sixth month of pregnancy or later is “very low.” How is stating this fact controversial?” asked Alveda King, Director, African American Outreach, Priests for Life. “He is trying to save babies’ lives – lives like the late term babies that convicted murderer Kermit Gosnell joked about when he said they “could walk to the bus stop”. Rather than have these babies decapitated and stuffed into juice containers by abortionists such as Gosnell, Congressman Franks would have them live. For this he is being viciously attacked.”

“Abortion supporters continually use rape and incest as a smoke screen and I’m sick of it,” said Day Gardner, President of the National Black Pro-Life Union. “Do women who suffer the terrible and brutal crime of rape sometimes seek an abortion? Yes! Do women who conceive during rape allow their child to be adopted into a loving family or decide to raise, love and nurture their child? Yes! Pro-aborts misuse the terrible crimes of rape and incest to ensure the continuation of abortion at all costs. The smoke screen is used all too often to detract from the fact that abortion is a gory and savage practice that kills babies at all stages of life, and sometimes kills women,” Gardner said.

“I am haunted by Tonya Reaves,” said Catherine Davis, Founding Member of the National Black Prolife Coalition. “Planned Parenthood callously left this young woman bleeding in their facility for more than five hours. They could have and should have transported her the 1.7 miles to the nearest trauma center where her life could have been saved after they perforated her uterus and left parts of the baby inside her. She did not have to die, yet those who claim to be fighting for women’s health have yet to tell women their very lives, like Tonya’s, is in jeopardy,” Davis said.

Pro-life advocates believe Representative Franks is right to omit method of conception exceptions from bills he sponsors. We believe he is right in seeking to ban abortions after the fifth month when the life and health of the mother is critically endangered.

Priests for Life leader sends open letter to Rep. Nancy Pelosi

WASHINGTON, D.C. — Fr. Frank Pavone, National Director of Priests for Life, praised yesterday’s action of the U.S. House of Representatives to pass the Pain-Capable Unborn Child Protection Act, which protects unborn children from the pain of abortion from 20 weeks fetal age and beyond.

“For years, Priests for Life has supported the passage of this type of bill on the state level, and we have strongly advocated for its passage on the federal level as well,” Fr. Frank explained. “We thank especially Congressman Trent Franks for his leadership. Moreover, this major step forward in pro-life legislation comes in the context of our ongoing Stop D and E campaign (StopDandE.com) which educates the public — and legislators as well — about the graphic reality of dismemberment of living children in the womb.”

“We will now take the next step in this project by visiting United States Senators with the diagrams of the D and E procedure, and asking them if they think this barbarity should be legal. We will publicize the question to their constituents, and will let those constituents know their responses,” Fr. Frank added.

Responding to the statement from the Obama Administration that the President would veto this legislation if it were to reach his desk, Fr. Frank stated, “The President’s views on abortion are extreme, dangerous to women as well as to their children, antithetical to the principles on which our nation was founded, and simply barbaric. Nobody with his views on such a fundamental issue belongs in public office.”

Fr. Frank also released today an open letter to House Democratic Leader Nancy Pelosi in response to her comments on June 13 regarding late-term abortion.

“You make a mockery of the Catholic faith,” the letter tells her, and says that her comments “reveal a profound failure to understand your own political responsibilities.” The letter concludes, “Either exercise your duties as a public servant and a Catholic, or have the honesty to formally renounce them.”

Members of the public can read the letter, and sign their own name to it as well, at http://www.priestsforlife.org/pelosi

Priests for Life: Pain-Capable Unborn Child Protection Act “Most Significant Legislative Step Forward”

Date: May 21, 2013

Washington, DC — Fr. Frank Pavone, National Director of Priests for Life, issued the following statement today:

“This week, Congressman Trent Franks (AZ-08) will hold a press conference on the Pain Capable Unborn Child Protection Act, announcing that its provisions, to protect children in the womb from 20 weeks of development forward, will apply nationwide. Moreover, a hearing regarding the bill will be held on Thursday.

“Priests for Life believes this is the most significant legislative effort to date in bringing protection to unborn children. We have therefore already alerted every parish in America to inform and mobilize its congregation in support of this bill. We are also calling upon pro-life organizations large and small to give it their full support.

“The team of Priests for Life has been instrumental in bringing attention to the case of Kermit Gosnell and in exposing other abortionists like him, and has been developing educational strategies related to late term abortion, such as our StopDandE.com campaign. We will redouble these efforts as a way of supporting passage of the Pain Capable Unborn Child Protection Act.”

Fr. Frank Applauds Bill to Protect Pain-Capable Children

Priests for Life

FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE
May 17, 2013

347-286-7277

Washington, DC – Fr. Frank Pavone and Priests for Life, the organization he leads, applauded today the announcement of Congressman Trent Franks (AZ-08) of a bill that would outlaw abortions nationwide after 20 weeks of development, when the scientific evidence is strongest that babies have the ability to feel pain.

“For the last few years, Priests for Life has strongly supported this type of legislation in the states, and has conducted an educational campaign called ‘Stop D and E’ (see StopDandE.com). ‘D and E’ refers to the Dilation and Evacuation procedure, that is, dismemberment abortion, which would be the most commonly used second trimester method of killing babies. With the introduction of this legislation, and building on the momentum of the state laws, the educational campaign, and the revelations of the Gosnell tragedy, we have more reason than ever to focus on this strategic goal, and more hope than ever that it will succeed,” Fr. Frank said.

“Make no mistake: the abortion industry and their cheerleaders do not want us talking about D and E abortions. They would much prefer we talk about abortions in the earliest stages of pregnancy. With these new developments, they should feel more uncomfortable than ever. The focus now is going to be late-term abortion, until it is ended in this country,” Fr. Frank concluded.

Working Together is a Win-Win Situation

Working Together

The following report is proof positive that when we stay in our lanes and do our best work and respect others who are on different pages in the same book, leaders get bolder and are more willing to approach all or nothing based on successful advances.

Kansas State Representative Steve Brunk said Friday after the passage of the omnibus pro-life bill, “There are a growing number of legislators who want to explore the practicality of moving toward fetal heartbeat as opposed to the incremental approach.” House Judiciary Chairman Lance Kinzer, a pro-life leader in the legislature, added, “We’re at a point of re-evaluation. We’re now looking at a different agenda because so much of what we wanted to be accomplished, will be accomplished.”

Analysis: Kan. abortion foes’ wins create dilemma

TOPEKA, Kan. (AP) — Kansas has enacted a wave of stricter abortion laws in the two-plus years Republican Gov. Sam Brownback has been in office, but those successes have led abortion opponents to discuss changing their tactics, unsure about what initiatives they’ll pursue next.

Thirty-two Kansas House members are sponsoring a proposed ban on most abortions as soon as a fetal heartbeat can be detected, which can occur as early as the sixth week of pregnancy, and the idea has the backing of the anti-abortion group Operation Rescue. Nine of those House members also were sponsors of a previous “personhood” amendment to the state constitution aimed at banning all abortions, declaring that the constitution protects the rights of individual starting at fertilization.

Kansas not only bans most abortions starting at the 22nd week of pregnancy, but . . .

Fr. Frank Pavone’s Statement on Republican Platform Committee’s Abortion Plank

Wednesday, August 22nd, 2012

FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE
Date: August 22, 2012

Contact: Andre Kim
347-286-7277

Priests for Life National Director Fr. Frank Pavone today issued the following statement on the abortion plank approved by the Republican Platform Committee.

“Priests for Life is grateful to those who have served on the platform committee for the Republican Party for reaffirming the truth that ‘the unborn child has a fundamental individual right to life which cannot be infringed.’ A declaration like this goes far beyond party politics and national boundaries. It affirms the very purpose of government and an essential condition of civilized society – a purpose and condition which, to our alarm, has been forgotten by some parties and public officials.

“After pointing to the essential principle of the right to life, the statement further points to concrete steps that can be taken now to more fully implement that principle. In particular, the issue of protecting children who feel pain is one that the public should consider. The Humane Slaughter Act protects animals from unnecessary pain. To do any less for children is not only a policy failure, but a basic failure to act as human beings.

“As we have done in past election cycles, Priests for Life will issue a non-partisan comparison of the party platforms once they are approved by their respective Conventions.”

A Word to “Pro-Choice” lawmakers: The Voters are Watching

Wednesday, August 1st, 2012

FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE
Date: August 1, 2012

347-286-7277

STATEN ISLAND, NY – Father Frank Pavone, National Director of Priests for Life, issued the following statement regarding Tuesday’s House vote on the D.C. Pain Capable Unborn Child Protection Act, H.R. 3803, which called for a ban on abortions after 20 weeks in the District of Columbia.

“As he led the debate against the D.C. Pain Capable Unborn Child Act last evening, Rep. John Conyers warned his pro-abortion colleagues that Planned Parenthood and NARAL would be scoring the vote.

“The act did not garner the necessary two-thirds vote to pass, but I would like to issue a warning of my own to those who opposed the bill: The American people will be keeping score as well, and they will remember in the voting booth the politicians who are so afraid of the powerful abortion lobby that they voted down an effort to save fully formed babies from the unimaginable pain of being torn limb from limb.

“An overwhelming majority of Americans are against late-term abortion and they will demand that their lawmakers have the integrity to represent them, rather than bowing to Planned Parenthood and NARAL.”

Priests for Life Welcomes Arizona Decision on Late-Term Abortion

Tuesday, July 31st, 2012

FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE
Date: July 31, 2012

Contact: Leslie Palma
347-286-7277

STATEN ISLAND, NY – Father Frank Pavone, National Director of Priests for Life, issued the following statement today regarding the decision of a federal court to uphold a ban on abortion after 20 weeks in Arizona.

“Priests for Life welcomes the decision of Judge James Teilborg regarding the Arizona law protecting children from painful dismemberment,” Father Pavone said. “Priests for Life vigorously supports similar laws in other states and the law that will be voted on today in Congress regarding protecting children in the District of Columbia.”

In the Arizona case, Judge Teilborg ruled that the law set to go into effect tomorrow is constitutional because it does not prohibit women from having abortions. He also noted in his decision that the state had provided “substantial and well-documented” evidence that a child at 20 weeks’ gestation or later has the capacity to feel pain.

“On an educational level, Priests for Life is bringing to the public’s attention the ‘D and E’ dismemberment abortion (see www.StopDandE.com).” Father Pavone said. “The abortion debate should not be so abstract that we forget we’re talking about pulling the arms and legs off of babies. To those asking for our vote in November, I ask, do you or do you not think dismemberment should be legal? Every voter should ask the same.”
