Fr. Pavone: Video Reveals Live-Birth Abortion

NEW YORK – Statement by Fr. Frank Pavone, National Director of Priests for Life and author of “Abolishing Abortion,” on the latest Planned Parenthood video:

“The latest undercover video reveals the reality of live-birth abortion. We hear one worker saying that one abortion patient was ‘in the OR for just three minutes… the fetus was already in the vaginal canal, and it just fell out…’

“Holly O’Donnell then relates a situation in which she helped procure the brain of an aborted baby. Holly said a co-worker called her over to look at the aborted body, which was intact. Holly says, ‘She just taps the heart and it starts beating…It had a face… nose…eyelids… she gave me the scissors and told me I had to cut down the middle of the face.’

“After the brain was taken, Holly had to clean up and put the rest of the baby’s body in the biohazard container. Holly relates, ‘He got stuck on the lid and it turned around and his buttocks were in the air and his two feet were like dangling out, and I remember having to pick each one of his feet up and put them in the container and close the lid.’

“Exactly what is being done to obtain these intact bodies needs to be investigated. Federal law prohibits abortion procedures that partially or fully deliver a living baby. Philadelphia abortionist Kermit Gosnell is serving life in prison because he killed babies who were still alive when they came out of the mother’s body. If Planned Parenthood is not fully investigated and prosecuted for these offenses, then we owe Gosnell an apology.

“I have worked with many former abortionists and clinic workers who tell similar accounts of what goes on in America’s abortion clinics. Read their stories at”

Fr. Pavone: We must act now to protect these babies

NEW YORK — Father Frank Pavone, National Director of Priests for Life, issued the following statement regarding today’s vote on the Pain Capable Unborn Child Protection Act (H.R. 36) in the House of Representatives.

“It is very fitting that on the two-year anniversary of the conviction of late-term abortionist and murderer Kermit Gosnell , our federal government is poised to take action to protect babies from a brutal and inhumane death at a point when they can feel pain. Many of Gosnell’s victims were well past 20 weeks. This bill would have protected them.

“We know from our work that some healthy mothers of healthy babies choose abortion after 20 weeks for reasons that have nothing to do with rape, incest or threats to physical health or life. Our ministry recently was asked to try to stop a healthy woman who was 30 weeks pregnant from aborting her healthy baby, but the abortion proceeded because there was no law to stop it.

“We must act now to stop this barbarous practice and protect these babies.”

Another Cry for Gun Control Overlooks the Greater Problem of Our Society’s Culture of Death Attitude

Monday, June 2nd, 2014

140602 blog image

With the news of yet another mass murder, this time from a celebrity shooter, comes more cries from those seeking gun control.

The shooter Elliot Rodgers is yet another example of the symptoms that plague our world. The son of an Assistant Director of the award winning sans gratuitously violent film HUNGER GAMES went on a violent stabbing/shooting spree in what was an apparent cry for help gone wrong.

Once again “The Elephant in the Room” is hiding in plain sight while the obvious is being overlooked. Yes we lament the death of Rodgers’ victims while at the same time we make no accepted outcry over the deaths of the thousands of innocent people being killed right here in America every day. Millions of babies have died by abortion. Hundreds of mothers are subsequently injured by abortion; some die. And a significant amount of lament is sorely lacking.

Yet in the case of Rodgers, a puzzled mainstream media is asking: “Could it be that the media hype is due to the Hollywood link? Rich white men? Mental illness?”

Seriously? Is anyone connecting the dots here? These above are possible symptoms; not causes of outbreaks senseless violence.

People are creating mayhem on victims they do not know. In the streets, in the schools, in the dorm rooms, in the form of human trafficking, in the hospitals and in the wombs of women.

Not just with guns and knives, but with scalpels and forceps and drugs and devices. Added to the growing list of victims of senseless violence are young babies in the womb, their tortured mothers, the sick and the elderly.

Yes, Rodger used guns, but he also stabbed people. So will we again push for gun control? What about knife control? And what if he had choked his victims. Will we advocate for strangulation control?

The problem is not the weapons Rodger used; the problem is the attitude towards the lack of demanding the right to dignity of life in our society.

Instead this seems to be the prevailing mindset of today: Is someone standing in your way? Kill that person. Someone has what you want? Do whatever you have to get it from that human being; even if it means murder. Another person is interfering with your life’s plans? Abort your baby. Someone sick or old? Euthanize.

We see from this mindset that for many, life has become disposable in our society. As Mother Teresa once said, “The greatest destroyer of peace is abortion because if a mother can kill her own child what is left for me to kill you and you to kill me? There is nothing between.”

Peace in America has been destroyed in the name of “choice;” a “choice” that has left millions of children dead and many women, mothers dead or wounded. As a result of the 1973 Roe vs. Wade decision which brought legal abortion and the 1963 action removing prayer from our schools, we are reaping a harvest of lawless violence. Yet people are still asking “why?”

Last week, May 28 marked the International Day of Action for Women’s Health. While many pro-aborts planned to take to Twitter to promote abortions as healthcare, pro-life activists hijacked the hashtags #WomensHealth and #May28 to tweet the truth about abortion. As most would agree, abortion is NOT healthcare. Abortion is mind numbing death care. So are the harmful carcinogenic cancer/stroke/heart attack causing carcinogenic so called birth control products; not health care but fertility blocking death care.

Pro-life activists have been accused of raging a war on women. Nothing can be further from the truth. We want to protect them both, the mother and the baby.

Yet our protection is being censored while our children’s lives, minds and souls are under attack.

Before Rodger’s shooting rampage he posted a video on YouTube in which he sat in the driver’s seat of a car and revealed his plans to “slaughter the hottest sorority girls at UCSB.” In a blog post, Rodger wrote: “Being lonely in a beautiful place like Santa Barbara is truly a horrible experience. As I’ve said many times, a beautiful environment can be the darkest hell if you have to experience it all alone, especially while having to watch other men walking around with their girlfriends.”

He hated women. He had been hurt by their refusals and he wanted to pay them back. It was all about him; his feelings; his “horrible experience;” His personal “hell.” He raged a war on women in the Isla Vista community. And his rampage also resulted in other casualties.

Is what Rodgers did really so different from the war on women and their baby boys and girls that is being waged by abortionists and the abortion industry? Although they say they don’t hate women, they too hurt women and children for their own gain. For them it may not a vengeful shooting or stabbing act but the result is the same; a mass war on women and babies that leaves casualties none the less.

2012 was a record year for this type of violence; abortions and mass murders. Blaming guns, white men, white privilege, Hollywood, mental illness, poverty, and only God knows what else.

Yet the mass murders such as Rodgers’ spree, school bombings, etc. have been occurring at an accelerated rate that parallels the removal of prayer from schools and the a scenario of the abortion history.

Mass murders increased when prayer was taken out of school and abortion was legalized. A godless nation is becoming a soulless nation.

When pro-life activists who care about children and their parents are said to be waging a war on women; when dismembering an unborn child while it is still in his/her mother’s womb is called healthcare; when the elderly and sick are being euthanized in growing numbers; then I ask you, “what is left but for you to kill me and me to kill you?”

Let us pray for repentance and revival. All is not lost. May God raise up a fearless “Generation Z,” a new beginning with warriors of old uniting with millennial champions of justice so that the killings will subside and our land can be healed.

Priests for Life: Gosnell Anniversary Links Pain-Capable Bill and 2014 Elections

Tuesday, May 13th, 2014

Date: May 13, 2014

Contact: Leslie Palma

NEW YORK, NY — Fr. Frank Pavone, National Director of Priests for Life, issued the following statement this morning:

“Today marks one year since the conviction of Philadelphia abortionist Kermit Gosnell, who killed children before and after birth, and killed their mothers as well. I remember vividly the arguments in the courtroom, and how consistent these crimes are with what we see in abortion clinics throughout the nation, as detailed in the book Lime 5.

“Today we also join the voices of many in the U.S. Senate and across America in calling for a Senate vote on the Pain-Capable Unborn Child Protection Act. This legislation, which would protect children in the womb from 20 weeks forward, is the next key step in reaching our ultimate goal, which is the protection of every unborn child — all of whom, without exception, we acknowledge as persons. Even among those who do not share that ultimate goal or belief, most agree that a policy allowing abortion after 20 weeks — when these children feel pain — is too extreme.

“Along with working for the passage of this legislation, Priests for Life is also implementing a project whereby each member of the U.S. Senate will be asked publicly whether he or she believes that the lives of children after 20 weeks of development should be protected in the womb. Priests for Life will see to it not only that this question is asked, but that the response — or lack thereof — is widely publicized in the state that senator represents, and across the country. Like it or not, the painful dismemberment of children in the womb is going to be a key issue in this year’s midterm elections.

“Finally, Priests for Life is planning a national memorial service for the babies and moms who were killed by Kermit Gosnell. These babies were given names in a special ceremony last year at the headquarters of Priests for Life (see The Philadelphia Medical Examiner refused to release the bodies of these children for burial. But we can have a funeral service nevertheless, and we will be calling upon the support and participation of Churches, the pro-life community, and all citizens of good will.”

Sept. 14 is Day of Remembrance for Aborted Children

Monday, September 9th, 2013

Priests for Life

Date: September 9, 2013

Contact: Leslie Palma

The brutality of abortion continues even after a child is ripped from the womb.

Bodies of aborted babies are disposed with medical waste and incinerated. Sometimes they are dumped into trash bins or fields. In one infamous case in California, the bodies of 16,443 aborted babies were found in a locked storage container outside a private home. A three-year court battle led by the American Civil Liberties Union ensued to prevent the babies from being granted the dignity of a proper burial. Eventually, they were laid to rest with the respect they deserved.

Similar scenarios, in smaller but still shocking numbers, have taken place across the nation in the 40 years since Roe v. Wade made the murder of the unborn a legal right. On Sept. 14, memorials will take place at gravesites of aborted children all over the country to grieve what we, as a nation, have lost, and to pray for the souls of these most innocent crime victims. Three organizations dedicated to ending abortion are organizing the memorials: Citizens for the Pro-Life Society, Priests for Life and Pro-Life Action League.

“Since 1973 over 50 million unborn children have been killed and only a small fraction of these victims were humanely buried because pro-lifers took them from the trash,” said Monica Migliorino Miller, director of Citizens for a Pro-Life Society. “These graves puncture the landscape and are a tragic and visible reminder that we must end the injustice of abortion. Memorial services, right at the graves of the victims, will be a powerful public witness to our nation that abortion truly kills innocent human beings, and serve as a call for justice, healing and forgiveness.”

The website has been established for the Sept. 14 services. There, visitors will find the heart-breaking details of many of the burials that have taken place over the decades and information on planned services. Some sites still need someone to step forward to organize a service, and those willing can find the information they need to get started.

“It’s sobering to realize that grave markers for the unborn victims of abortion list only a date of burial,” said Eric Scheidler, executive director of the Pro-Life Action League. “They have no birthdays because they were never allowed to be born. We can list no date of death, because those who killed them discarded their bodies like garbage. But they are not garbage to us. They are our brothers and sisters. That’s why we buried them, and that’s why we visit their graves to mourn for them and testify to their humanity.”

The inhumane treatment of the victims of abortion is not something that just happened in the past. Right now in Philadelphia, the Medical Examiner’s office is refusing to allow a proper burial for babies killed – many outside the womb – by the now-imprisoned abortionist Kermit Gosnell. Priests for Life has named these babies and has requested permission to bury them, but the Medical Examiner insists the babies will be cremated, privately and unmourned.

“In the light of the trial and conviction of Kermit Gosnell and the passage by the U.S. House of Representatives, and various states, of the Pain-Capable Unborn Child Protection Act, the reality of late-term abortion has been brought into clearer focus for the American public,” said Father Frank Pavone, national director of Priests for Life. “Awareness of that reality leads to a logical question: What is done with the bodies?

“The National Day of Remembrance builds on that question and strengthens that awareness, creating a focal point for our grief, both national and personal, and for the education of future generations. These services also will provide opportunities for an urgent call to healing after abortion for the women who have suffered from this terrible choice and the extended families left wounded in its wake.”

Is Dr. James Pendergraft another Gosnell? Where is Gosnell? #WhereIsGosnell

Tuesday, August 13th, 2013

130813 blog image

As I have asked before, “Where is Gosnell?” It seems that every week, if not every day, there’s a new report of another Gosnell-like abortionist making headlines. This time it’s a Florida doctor who has had his share of problems with authorities. And yet he continues to operate an abortion mill killing babies. How can this be?

As I’ve said many times before, these abortionists think they are above the law. And you would almost think so if you saw all the things they get away with.

Dr. James Pendergraft is one such doctor. He has had his license suspended five times, has had all his equipment seized and was closed down just last month. And yet a month later he is back up and operating his abortion clinic again.

A local television news station, WFTV, has run several news reports on the problems with Dr. Pentergraft so it’s not like people don’t know about him. You can watch them HERE and HERE.

What’s almost most shocking is that dispite all the trouble he seems to attract, despite his five license suspensions, one which is currently being enforced, despite having all his equipment seized, and despite a $36 million judgment against him for medical malpractice, he has managed to find six other doctors to work with him to do the abortions since he has no license. That’s right, SIX. And he has opened his clinic with borrowed equipment.

I wonder if the old idiom “birds of a feather do flock together” applies in this case?

I hope people are paying attention across America as more reports surface of Gosnell-like abortionists doing as they wish and putting patients at risk because they think they are untouchable.

Prayer Vigil for “Gosnell Babies” Friday in Philadelphia

Monday, July 15th, 2013

Priests for Life

Date: July 15, 2013

Contact: Leslie Palma

Father Frank Pavone, National Director of Priests for Life, issued the following statement today regarding a prayer vigil planned for 10 a.m. Friday, July 19, outside the office of Philadelphia Medical Examiner Dr. Sam Gulino:

“In the 2010 raid of the abortion clinic of Kermit Gosnell in Philadelphia, the remains of some 45 babies were found in jars, milk cartons, and other containers throughout the clinic and in the freezer. It is bad enough that these children were killed, whether in the womb or outside the womb. But their bodies have still not been buried, despite the offer of Priests for Life to conduct proper funeral services and burials, and the assistance likewise offered by funeral homes and other interested persons from around the nation.

“The babies are currently still in the possession of the Philadelphia Medical Examiner. As a reminder of their humanity, and as a sign of our solidarity with them, Priests for Life is holding a prayer service on Friday, July 19, from 10 to 11 a.m. in front of the building where they are being kept, at 321 University Ave., Philadelphia. If the Medical Examiner will not bring these babies to us, then we will go to them.

“Our Youth Director, Bryan Kemper, and our Pastoral Associate Kevin Burke, who works in the outreach of our Silent No More Awareness Campaign and of Rachel’s Vineyard, will assist in leading the service, in conjunction with our friend and colleague, Rev. Patrick Mahoney of the Christian Defense Coalition. We invite all people of good will to join us.

“The purpose of this prayer service is to commend these babies, their families, and those who killed them, to the love and mercy of Almighty God, in whose hands are the lives of us all. We seek to continue to shed light on the fact that these children are our brothers and sisters, and that their bodies are sacred and must be reverenced. We have already given them names, and we will hold a major national funeral service at some point in the near future.

“We seek, likewise, to shed light on the violence of abortion, which killed these children. The killing of a child is equally wrong whether it is carried out inside the womb or outside the womb. It is the violence itself that must end; the place where it occurs is secondary.

“We also use this opportunity to extend an urgent invitation to healing for all those who have been involved in abortion. We who reject abortion do not reject those who have had abortions; rather, we embrace them with compassion and love. Nor do we reject those who work or have worked in the abortion industry. They, too, need healing and compassion, which we provide through our work with the Society of Centurions, a program of healing and outreach for former abortionists and clinic staff.

“We invite all people of good will to join our efforts at

Real Freedom Rides Save Babies

Friday, July 12th, 2013

pro-life freedom bus

Priests for Life launched Pro-Life Freedom Rides in 2010 to motivate and inspire Americans to stand for and protect the sanctity of life; to #Stand4Life; to promote and inform people about the sanctity of life and attacks on babies and their mothers.

Now the abortion lobby wants to do an abortion rights freedom ride although they know full well that so called abortion rights kill babies and also hurt and sometimes kill their mothers. Reproductive rights and health are best served by eliminating abortion or harmful contraceptives that are linked to serious conditions such as breast cancer, cervical cancer, strikes and heart attacks. So called Abortion rights circumvent human life and human rights, including the rights of the human babies and their mothers.

Do the abortion bus riders want to ride for the rights of doctors, and I use that term loosely, like Kermit Gosnell, LeRoy Carhart, and Douglas Karpen?

People, it’s time to get off the abortion bus fueled by Planned Parenthood and Cecile Richards!

pph bus

The desperation of the abortion lobby is becoming more apparent as they demean the Freedom Riders of 1961 and the 21st Century ProLife Freedom Riders! An organizer of the Abortion Rights Freedom Rides, Sunsara Taylor, is quoted in an article as saying, “we unapologetically come out and say that fetuses are not babies, abortion is not murder and women are not incubators, and we make the demand that abortion be available on demand and without apology.”

I encourage Ms. Taylor to read any biology textbook and she will see that life begins at conception. When the 23 chromosomes from the father and 23 from the mother join together, they create a unique individual life, differing from the mother and the father, a human life. I know it’s been a while since I was in school, but unless things have changed, two humans are only capable of reproducing another human.

With 2011 and 2012 being the years with the highest number of pro-life bills being passed stopping and restricting abortion, the pro-abortion lobby is becoming desperate as evident in Texas as the Texas Senate in poised to vote on a bill that would ban abortions after 20 weeks (5 months) and place other restrictions on abortion mills. Pro-Death Pro-Abortion voices have resorted to chanting “Hail Satan” as pro-lifers pray and sing AMAZING GRACE. Meanwhile, pro-abortion activists are becoming more disruptive and getting arrested. Let’s pray that violence will not be the next progression.

We must all pray for the passage of more pro-life legislation and for the abortion community that their hearts will be changed and they will become real defenders of women’s rights which must include protection from the harmful impact of abortion.

RECALL ABORTION and ride for life!

The Gosnell Boogie Man Lives On In Abortion Mills Across America

Monday, July 1st, 2013

Gosnell Boogie Man cropped

Even though Kermit Gosnell is incarcerated the horrors of his abortion regime still linger on. Once, parents terrorized little children with stories of the Boogie Man. Has Gosnell become the boogie man for the unborn babies in the worm and their mothers?

Where is Gosnell? Is there a Gosnell near you?

Dear Mrs. Pelosi, and all leaders with authority, and those who think they do; please protect the babies from tactics like the horrible abortionist Kermit Gosnell inflicted on the wombs of many, many women during the time he was allowed to run an abortion mill. Please Mrs. Pelosi, and all leaders, don’t let the Gosnells of the world kill our babies.

Fr. Pavone: #Gosnell Babies Are Not Unclaimed, Deserve Burial

Monday, June 17th, 2013

Date: June 14, 2013

Contact:  Leslie Palma

ROME — Speaking from Rome, where he will be concelebrating Mass this weekend with Pope Francis for the Day of Life, Fr. Frank Pavone, National Director of Priests for Life, responded to the news from the Philadelphia Medical Examiner that the bodies of the Gosnell babies will be cremated and then buried in the same way that they treat any unclaimed bodies.

“There is no need for the Medical Examiner to have some hidden, secret burial as if we are to be ashamed of these babies. These babies are not unclaimed,” Fr. Pavone declared, “They are claimed and have been named by us, because they are our brothers and sisters. We will therefore have a national funeral service for these babies, even without the bodies. We will involve the entire pro-life movement and all people of good will, and more information will be announced shortly. Moreover, we want to know exactly where the remains of these children will be placed.”
