NEW YORK — Father Frank Pavone, National Director of Priests for Life, issued the following statement regarding the National Day of Remembrance for Victims of Gosnell’s Clinic, to take place at noon on Saturday, Oct. 24, at Laurel Hill Cemetery in Philadelphia:
“In 2010, the Philadelphia abortion clinic of Kermit Gosnell was raided, for reasons unrelated to abortion, and in the course of that raid, the body parts of aborted children were discovered in bags, jars and cartons in the freezer and other places around the filthy clinic.
“These babies were denied the dignity of a proper funeral even though Priests for Life, the Archdiocese of Philadelphia and the Charismatic Episcopal Church requested of the Medical Examiner that the bodies be released for that purpose. Instead, the babies were secretly cremated and their ashes interred at Laurel Hill Cemetery.
“At Priests for Life, we named these children in a religious service in 2013 and now we will lead a memorial service to recognize their dignity and honor their memory.
“We call on America to remember the horrific case of Kermit Gosnell, who now sits in prison for life because of the babies he killed even after birth. And we call on America to honor the bodies of all aborted children by visiting their gravesites. The National Day of Remembrance, of which Saturday’s service is a part, does this around the country, and is co-sponsored by Priests for Life, Citizens for a Pro-life Society, and Pro-life Action League. See www.AbortionMemorials.com for details.”
Archbishop Craig Bates, Patriarch of the International Communion of the Charismatic Episcopal Church, is one of the religious leaders who will speak at the service, said: “Our Christian conscience demands that we provide a burial for these innocent victims. It is the decent and right thing to do.”
