SPACER
Luke 4:18-19
The Spirit of the Lord is on me,
because he has anointed me
to proclaim good news to the poor.
He has sent me to proclaim freedom for the prisoners
and recovery of sight for the blind,
to set the oppressed free,
to proclaim the year of the Lord’s favor.”

Dr. Karen StevensonOur good friend Dr. Karen Stevenson, MD, a pro-life advocate, has written an insightful paper that confirms new views on the connection between racism, slavery, and abortion.

While studying the connection between abortion and slavery, one might wish to consider the research respectfully submitted by those who are determined to get to the bottom of the controversies and shed some light on the issue.

1. Excerpt from Utrum by Dr. Karen Stevenson

“As Kathleen Neal Cleaver states in her review of Dorothy Roberts’ book, Killing the Black Body: Race, Reproduction, and the meaning of Liberty, “Roberts learned the significance of reproductive autonomy not from the contemporary abortion movement but from studying the histories of slave women who fought to gain control over their lives.”[1] Any treatise that discusses black women and their reproductive freedoms must take into account the impact of these freedoms on the black community as a whole. Thus, any issue germane to African-American women is also crucial to the welfare of the African-American family and by extension, the African-American community.

Abortion benefits African-American women because it allows them to exercise control over their reproductive destinies.

Slave women in America did not have the right to self-determination, and they had no autonomy over their bodies in any way. The profit driven slave economy benefitted tremendously from their toil and their procreative abilities. The slave woman’s children were not her own, and by the whim of her master, they could be sold away from her, never to be seen again. In post Civil War America, there was no further need for black women to procreate. In fact, her ability to procreate no longer served the greater good.”

2. Excerpt from 2013 Message by Dr. Alveda King

“One can’t help but consider if disregard for the value of women and children is still at the root of abortion today. Consider this, many if not all of the women abolitionists should have been the forerunners of the Pro-Life Movement. Instead, we have a counterfeit “Women’s Rights Movement” which supports abortion and harmful contraceptive drugs today. Why in the world, how in the world could this be?

Remember, both women and men were allowed to be involved with the Anti-Slavery act. But, women could only go so far because they couldn’t vote, and many could not own property. Non-African Women and all slaves were actually considered to be chattel or property back then. So, it was hard for white and black women to be involved as abolitionists because white women were treated in very similar manner to African Americans, and most Black women were slaves. Unfortunately, the same thing was happening to the Native American Population. They were all considered to be chattels.

So the frustrated slave women often aborted their babies (Pure Breed and Mulatto) voluntarily as an act against sustaining future oppression. The Angry Caucasian Wives often coerced or forced abortion on their husband’s “Black Beauties” as a means of retaliation against their own brand of experienced oppression.

If you think about it, the same issues are at the heart of the Middle East Conflict. Sarah’s and Hagar’s sons are brothers with Abraham’s seed, yet their bitter battle still rages. My, what a bitter root of judgment in all these situations!

While many women who were abolitionists ended up becoming women rights activists, bitterness caused them to adopt a contraceptives agenda and finally an abortion agenda to exercise what they considered to be rights over their wombs. So now we have a war on babies and the wombs often led by women and men controlled by a desire for revenge and avarice.”

3. Excerpt from Slavery _____ Jealousy of the Slave Mistresses

“It is a fact generally observed in slave societies that the mistress is more cruel in her treatment of slaves than the master. It is a fact confirmed by our chronicles, our folklore, our oral tradition, and travelers. There are on record not two or three, but scores of cases of the cruelty of the senhoras de engenho toward defenseless slaves.”

2013 New Year’s Message by Alveda King

2013 blog image

In preparing to navigate what may surely be the sometimes invigorating, sometimes dark and murky waters of 2013, let us prepare for war and peace, joy and challenge, love and forgiveness.

The year 2013 will mark several significant landmark anniversaries including 150 years since the signing of the Emancipation Proclamation, 100 years since the formation of the Federal Reserve System, 50 years since the MLK I HAVE A DREAM SPEECH, and 40 years of legal abortion in America with the passage of Roe versus Wade. This will surely be a year of transition and there is a need for a deep spiritual awakening.

As we were nearing the end of the complex yet remarkable year of 2012, two anticipated movies emerged. While on the surface these two films appear to be polar opposites they actually have a lot in common. Both films address the atrocities and pending demise of slavery in America. The star studded LINCOLN film by cinematic genius Steven Spielberg garnered high ratings and surely pierced the coldest hearts frozen by the aegis of racism.

The second film, DJANGO by master of gratuitous violence Quentin Tarantino was shockingly offensive in its array of profanity, nudity and blood shedding violence, with popular Black actors Jamie Foxx, Kerry Washington, Samuel L. Jackson and groupie favorite Leonardo DeCaprio is one I generally would never grace the box office with money for a ticket, but surprisingly I’m glad my son offered to take me to see it.

I found LINCOLN to be remarkably refreshing even in the midst of the stoicism and what could have been just another boring historical anal in the tombs of media wannabes. Yet, it wasn’t. There was humor and there was insight, and I learned to love Mrs. Mary Todd Lincoln who has often been misunderstood by historians. This movie came just at the right time in history when a bridge between the disenfranchised of America in the horrible flesh peddling that landed in America in the 17th Century and what inhumanity continues to exist in the 21st Century.

How can this be you might ask? Well, one of the earlier American records of selling humans in exchange for goods and services is noted to have occurred in 1619 when John Rolfe noted in a letter to the Virginia Company Treasurer Edwin Sandys that trade of 20 African slaves would be available for food and supplies. These types of exchange occurred and lasted until the passage of the Slave Trade Act of 1807.

This effort was led by William Wilberforce, William Penn and other European abolitionists. They won the battle to end the sanctioned slave trade over the waters. This Act was followed by the Slavery Abolition Act of 1833, abolishing most legal slavery in the British Empire.

However, these actions in Europe didn’t end slavery in America, because slave owners came up with the brilliant idea, possibly aided by Willie Lynch, to inbreed slaves on American shores since the off shore flesh peddling was curtailed. Thank goodness that the American Abolitionist Movement, inspired by brothers’ and sisters’ success in Europe, was alive and well in America.

Thank God for the American Anti-Slavery Society which started in 1833. The white abolitionists and Black Freedom Fighters were the forerunners of what is known as the Pro-Life Movement of today. People like Susan B. Anthony, William Lloyd Garrison, Arthur Tappen, Lewis Tappen,‏ Fredrick Douglass, John Brown, Wendell Phillips, Lydia Maria Child, Henry Ward Beecher, Sojourner Truth, Harriet Tubman, Garrett Smith, Elizabeth Stanton, and they had a daughter named Elizabeth Smith, Harriet Beecher Stowe and Calvin Stow understood the sanctity of human existence and that all people were created equal.

Then too, President Lincoln had the courage to fight the battle and gave his life for the cause. The portrayal of Lincoln’s struggles and victories was duly portrayed in LINCOLN. I am grateful.

Now, DJANGO was more vulgar, in your face and disgustingly violent. But remember, so was slavery! For years I have been struggling with how to explain how much the slave masters lusted after the bodies of the Black and beautiful slave women; how the slave masters’ wives and female relatives hated the Black slave women for their beauty and sex appeal; how the Black slave women got beat and brutalized coming and going by the lustful slave masters and their women; and how the Black slave men were castigated and castrated for trying to be men rather than animals and for trying to have families with wives and children. Wow! DJANGO definitely portrayed the violent and inhumane treatment of Black slaves in America.

Now I know that women can hate their husbands’ mistresses, and hate their husbands for having mistresses. We even see that in the Bible with Sarah and Hagar and Abraham. And the same thing happens in every society where there are social class issues and people are taken advantage of by their masters for various inhumane purposes and that type of thing.

But the atrocities of slavery in America just go beyond the pale. All too often there is absolutely no value of human life where sex and money are involved, and that has been the case from the beginning of time, spreading into America’s history; manifesting in the slave trade market and more recently in the abortion market. The things that were done to these unfortunate human beings called slaves is terrible.

One can’t help but consider if disregard for the value of women and children is still at the root of abortion today.

So now we have a war on babies and the wombs often led by women and men controlled by a desire for revenge and avarice.

The movie DJANGO clearly shows the atrocities that Black women had to suffer during slavery. The pain and indignities to the men is clear as well. The film opens two years before the beginning of the Civil War and goes on from there. I’m not recommending that anyone see the film, just telling you that I got an eye opening experience in my seat at the theater.

What connects these two films and makes me want to issue a challenge to Mr. Spielberg, Mr. Tarantino and any other brilliant producers and directors who want to deliver startling and or compelling messages? WHY DON’T YOU MAKE MOVIES THAT SHOW THAT BABAIES ARE TREATED LIKE SLAVES? WHY NOT SHOW WHY RIPPING LITTLE BABIES APART IN THE WOMBS OF THEIR MOTHERS IS BAD????????? HUH?

My friends, it is the beginning of 2013. We are closer to being “free at last,” but we are not yet in the Promised Land. Let 2013 mark a season of enlightenment where change can ignite in every heart. Let this be a time when the reality of the beauty of natural life, natural marriage and natural family will no longer be considered a hopeless dream, but a reality of a promise of Divine Love and Grace.

Even as we consider all of the current arguments regarding human sexuality, we have to consider that all of the cards are not even on the table. In Matthew 19:12, even Jesus explained that some people are born without the natural desire for sex with a woman; some people are castrated so they can’t fulfill sexual desires with a woman; and some choose not to have sex with a woman so that they can serve God better.

In other words, we read in Matthew 19:12 that: “some men are celibate because they were born that way. Others are celibate because they were castrated. Still others have decided to be celibate because of the kingdom of heaven. If anyone can do what you’ve suggested, then he should do it.” (GOD’s Word Translation) Of course being celibate because you don’t desire natural sexuality is different from fornicating. Fornicating, adultery and unnatural

The literal meaning of the word Eunuch in the original languages of the Bible mean: “a man who does not have natural sexual desires or use for a woman.” So, actually some people are born without natural sexual desires at all. And some maybe desire to have sex with someone of their own gender. This doesn’t mean that they have to have unnatural sexual activity though. People won’t die if they don’t have sex at all. That is where being open to Jesus comes in. We all need more enlightenment.

Also, the word Niger isn’t a dirty word. In Acts 13:1 Simeon the Niger was a respected man. The additional “g” to the word Niger made the word “Nigger” and Black slaves from Africa were taught to denigrate that word/name. People become too upset by the word Nigger.

I tell people they can call me Nigger, just remove one g and add Queen in front of Nigger and call me Queen Niger as the word appears in the Bible because a Niger is a royal person. Niger by the way also means “Black” and I add Beautiful to that. In ignorance slavers attempted to denigrate what God made good. Let’s set the record straight.

Friends, we’re dealing with a “three headed monster” – Racism, Reproductive Genocide and Sexual Immorality – all three sustained by a tainted beastly heart.

One of my favorite MLK sermons is REDISCOVERING LOST VALUES. If you study the message, enlightenment will surely come. We all just need to REPENT and learn how to live together as righteous brothers and sisters or perish as fools.

So, let’s pray that everyone can be enlightened in 2013. Let’s pray that we shine the truth in love. My mother once told me that “you can’t clean the house by sweeping the dirt under the rug.”

Well, people are all out of the closet now. Everything is out in the open. Many are wanting to do “his thing,” or “her thing.” Why don’t we just bring everything out in the open in 2013 and take it all to Jesus for a good never lose its power BLOOD WASHING? HAPPY NEW YEAR!

All monsters are not in the movies…

Wednesday, August 15th, 2012

Friends, we are dealing with a real three headed monster: Abortion and Unnatural Contraceptives, Racism and Homosexuality. All three fly in the face of God, pretty much saying: “No God, we won’t be fruitful and multiply. We will not procreate your beloved human family. We will kill our babies, make sure we don’t get pregnant in the first place, refuse to marry anyone who doesn’t have our skin color and call it racial purity, and finally, we will have same-sex-sex, which sure as you know what won’t cause anyone to get pregnant.” Oh, wow!

What’s really sad is that when we protect these positions with “misplaced compassion,” and try to call these moral wrongs civil rights, we hurt society and humanity. Love, real love never fails. We must not judge one another, we must simply tell the truth and slay the beast. The Sword of the Spirit is a very effective weapon; the Blood of Jesus is a super source; and the real super hero is the Holy Spirit. And remember, our all powerful FATHER GOD is LOVE and LOVE never fails.

Pray Harder! Run Harder!

Wednesday, August 8th, 2012

Friends,

My friend Rev. C. L. Bryant just released a new film, Runaway Slave. It’s playing for a limited engagement in theatres around the country. Please go see the movie and tell your friends about it. If it’s not playing near you, please talk to your local theatre and ask them to bring it to their theatre. Just like other movies like October Baby, Fireproof and Courageous were helped become successful films, we can do the same for Runaway Slave.

Here is what my friend Anita Crane said about the film.

Would blacks vote for a white Obama?
Former NAACP leader defies racial politics in new movie, ‘Runaway Slave’

If Barack Obama weren’t black, would most black voters really have reason to support him?

Rev. C.L. Bryant, a former chapter president of the National Association for the Advancement of Colored People, or NAACP, is boldly challenging whether the expanding government programs and progressive ideals espoused by Obama and his allies are actually helpful to black people or whether “the sons and daughters of former slaves traded one form of slavery for yet another.”

“Black people are very uninformed,” Bryant told WND, one of the key reasons he has made “Runaway Slave,” a powerful new movie blowing the lid off racial politics.

Bryant is a descendent of American slaves and Choctaw Indians. He’s also a Baptist minister who resigned from NAACP leadership when they required him to host an event directly violating the commandments of Christ. In Bryant’s film, leaving the NAACP was just one step on his journey away from the slavery of anger and one step towards the truth setting him free.

What, then, is the reaction of blacks who’ve seen “Runaway Slave”?

“Dear Mama King …”

Tuesday, August 7th, 2012

Friends, I hope you will write to “Mama King” and share your views about this blog.

Dear Readers, last Mother’s Day I blogged about how we feel about our mothers’ advice over the seasons of our lives:

How We Relate to “Mama” over the Years:

Age 6 – “Mommy, I love you.”
Age 10 – “Mom, whatever.”
Age 18 – “I can’t wait to leave this house.”
Age 25 – “Mom, you were right!”
Age 30 – “I wanna go to Mama’s house.”
Age 50 – “I don’t ever want to lose my Mom.”
Age 70 – “I would give up everything for my Mom to be here with me.”

I am no exception to the legend. I can remember feeling the same way about my mother over the years. Mother is still here on earth with us, and she is our treasure and our joy!

Having passed the golden silver age of 61, I have a badge of honor that is a blessing and treasure to bear. The title “Mama King” is no longer reserved solely for my womb fruit and their children. Now, as a post-abortive mother, a grandmother and a mentor to many young people, male and female; I am known all over the world as Mama King. So, today please allow me to share a message from the “Heart of Mama King.”

During the last few days, humanity has been overwhelmed by so many incidents that I shudder to remind us of even just a few. However, I’m going to ask you to bear with me as we look at just two tragedies that are a blight on the sanctity of human life.

First, the tragic slaughter of a young woman, Tonya Reaves in Chicago. She was butchered at a Planned Parenthood Clinic. Warning, the details are very graphic.

Then, there is the expose of the North Carolina abortionist who attempted to justify his profession of killing black babies by challenging the pro-life delegation at his door to “adopt the ugly black babies.”

Just what do these two stories have in common? What does either story have to do with the heart of a mother? Well, just consider this. Tonya was an African American mother of a young son, and pregnant with a new baby. She was also engaged to be married. Was her decision to abort a good “choice?” Let her killers tell you that they think so. Planned Parenthood promised Tonya a solution to her problems, and they killed her. Now, she is dead; a beautiful dead victim of the nefarious liars Planned Parenthood. Yes friends, Tonya and her dead baby are victims. For those who want to point the finger at Tonya and say that nobody made her go to Planned Parenthood, think again. Planned Parenthood is a master of false advertising, and Tonya fell into their trap.

I was once a victim of the lies of Planned Parenthood. They disperse death, sterility and infertility. Then they justify their poison pills, shots and blades by saying that they are providing “women’s rights.” What a travesty.

Then, as if Tonya’s tragedy were not enough, an abortionist in North Carolina told a pro-life prayer group that he was aborting babies to help give people tax breaks, and that if the pro-life community is so concerned about the ugly Black babies, they should adopt them.

People, talk about being angry and sin not! It took me a minute to remember that I am a Christian. I mean, I almost wanted to go after the man! He really needs help.

I would miss a perfect opportunity here if I didn’t point out that the way to help tax payers is to adopt a tax plan like the brilliant 9-9-9, which doesn’t have to abort babies to equalize the tax burdens of Americans.

Can you imagine how I as an African America mother feel when I hear someone call Black babies ugly. We are the human race, and all babies are beautiful, not matter what their ethnicity, social and economic standing, or state of physical well being happens to be.

Can you imagine how much it hurts to see a beautiful woman like Tonya Reaves cut down in the prime of her life? Remember how hurt I was about the murder of Trayvon Martin? I called him a late-late term abortion. And now we lose a young woman trying to get a late term abortion.

Finally, I want to mention how glad I am that Chick-fil-A and Rev. Bill Owens, Sr. are standing up for procreative marriage. We are dealing with a three headed monster in America; racism, abortion and anti-procreative marriage. All three fly in the face of God, denying that His precious One Human Race is designed to live together, love together and procreate together.

This is a rant, so it admittedly isn’t scholarly and highly intellectual. I hope and pray though that somewhere in all of this we can understand that we all need to be praying and repenting right now.

“If my people who are called by My name will humble themselves, and pray and seek My face, and turn from their wicked ways, then I will hear from heaven, and will forgive their sin and heal their land.” 2 Chronicles 7:14

RUNAWAY SLAVE: A Must See Movie

Monday, July 16th, 2012

My good friend C. L. Bryant’s new movie, RUNAWAY SLAVE, is finally being released on July 27, 2012 in selected theatres.

Here is what they say on their website about the movie:

As Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. stood on the steps of the Lincoln Memorial in the summer of 1963, he delivered one of the most powerful speeches in our nation’s history. Known for its famous line, “I have a dream,” Dr. King concluded his speech with these words:

“And when this happens, when we allow freedom to ring, when we let it ring from every village and every hamlet, from every state and every city, we will be able to speed up that day when all of God’s children, black men and white men, Jews and Gentiles, Protestants and Catholics, will be able to join hands and sing in the words of the old Negro spiritual, ‘Free at last, free at last! Thank God Almighty, we’re free at last!’”

Now, nearly a half-century later, has his dream become reality? Have we allowed freedom to truly ring? Or has that longed-for freedom somehow become even more elusive?

In RUNAWAY SLAVE, an intriguing new documentary that opens in theaters this summer, Rev. C.L. Bryant journeys across America to find answers. A one-time NAACP local chapter president, Rev. Bryant discovers that by buying into the entitlement mindset of “progressives,” the black community has traded one form of tyranny for another.

Using leading black conservatives as “conductors,” Rev. Bryant believes it is time for a new Underground Railroad to help liberate all Americans from the Government plantation that has left the black community dealing with a new form of slavery: entitlements.

“Why are we still thinking we are not free at last? What ideas are keeping us down?” Rev. Bryant asks. “For too long, we have been depending on other people for our success. We have to pursue our happiness; our happiness is not provided to us. If we are relying on someone else for our wellbeing, that in itself is a form of slavery.”

From our nation’s capital and freedom’s birthplace, to the dens of slavery and Jim Crow, to wherever a light for liberty is shining, this runaway slave looks to bring hope to the oppressed. Among the leaders he talks with along the way are Dr. King’s niece, Dr. Alveda King; former presidential candidate Herman Cain; Congressman Allen West; economist and author Dr. Thomas Sowell; talk-show host and author Glenn Beck; the late Andrew Breitbart. We also meet a new generation of young freedom fighters who are on the front lines of change!

Rev. Bryant’s conclusion? It’s time to run. “Run away from economic slavery. Run toward the blessings of liberty. Let us remain strong in this fight. Run away from socialism; run away from progressivism. And if you get tired, America … run harder!”

This summer, celebrate your freedom by running as fast and as hard as you can to see RUNAWAY SLAVE in theaters.

Here is a wonderful intervew of C. L. Bryant. Enjoy!

Winning The Battle On Our Knees

Thursday, July 5th, 2012

“The battle is not yours, it’s the Lord’s.” 2 Chronicles 20:15

Four years ago, during the long hot summer before Mr. Barack Hussein Obama was elected as the “first black president of the United States of America,” I remember being distraught because prophets and pundits were predicting his election. One friend dreamed of Mr. Obama wearing a medical jacket and carrying a stethoscope. We later realized that God was revealing that the president would use health care as a wedge into the voting communities.

Friends, I was angry with God, and that was a dangerous position for me to be in. God had revealed to me that due to His hand of judgment on America, Mr. Obama would be the next President. I just couldn’t stand the thought of that!

It took the God ordained wisdom of a fellow prophetic voice in the person of my good friend and fellow warrior Pastor Clennard Childress of www.blackgenocide.org to calm me down. I remember him saying: “Alveda, only God can use one vessel, one man to shine light on two of the most demonic forces we battle today in the 21st century. Racism and abortion will come to the forefront with this presidency because Barack Obama will be the most abortion minded president American has ever known. On the other hand, racism will come out of the closet because some people will resent having a black face in the White House.”

As it turns out, Pastor Childress is right. President Obama’s abortion agenda is unprecedented. Then too, there is the flip side of the anti-Christ/anti-procreation agenda which President Obama also promotes. Abortion along with his homosexual marriage agenda are the two most effective forces against natural marriage and procreation. Face it friends, two men or two women engaged in sexual liaisons, and mothers who abort or surgically and chemically prevent conception are much less likely to birth babies.

And let’s not forget racism. Sadly, there are self proclaimed Christians praying that God will kill President Obama. Now, I know that David prayed for God to kill his enemies in the Old Testament, but after Christ came into the earth and died at Calvary and ascended to Heaven as our High Priest, we now have the privilege of praying for our leaders in authority and would be wise to pray that God transform the President rather than kill him.

Having said that, I’d like to remind us that we must pray on our knees for relief from ungodly leaders. When we get up from our knees, we should go to the ballot box and vote for life, natural marriage and family, deliverance from forces that are destroying our health, economy, educational system, etc.

As a 21st century guardian of the King Family Legacy, I’m reminded of what my Uncle M. L. wrote in the previous century in his “Letter From a Birmingham Jail.” He spoke of the most segregated hour in America, that being Sunday morning at 11:00 a.m. Friends, it’s time to come together regardless of ethnicity, church denomination, economic status, political party affiliation and other distinctions that divide us rather than unite us.

The blood of the innocents is crying from the ground. The earth is groaning under the injustices. Natural procreation is under attack. We must pray and ask God to help us according to 2 Chronicles 7:14 – “If my people who are called by My Name will humble themselves and pray…”

I’d like to end this blog with a message from controversial prophet Kim Clement. You may recall that he was one of the prophetic voices heralding the election of President Obama. Mr. Clement took a lot of heat for speaking that prophecy. This is not an endorsement of his message, just an FYI. Peace!

Kim Clement:
“I Will Not Look Away From the Sound That Is Coming”
June 6, 2012 – From The Matrix

Regarding the Shedding of Innocent Blood

What is happening now is that there is innocent blood being shed. And God says clearly and through me now, “Do you really think I will not respond to this that is happening? I’m already performing miracles with young kids that were supposed to die; I’ve protected them by the thousands and the tens of thousands. Those that have slipped by,” God said, “each one has a voice that I will replace with two voices. Each one has a sound. Where there is one innocent taken, I will give two innocent back. Where one purity is taken, I will give two purity back.”

God says, “I will not look away from the shedding of blood; I will not look away from the sound that is coming from the Middle East. I will not turn away from it,” says the Lord. “Even in America, even in the countries, the nations in Europe, where there is blood that is being shed,” God said, “I will not hold back. I will not be quiet. I will hear it, and watch what I will do with these young men and women,” says the Lord.

“They shall carry the sword; they shall carry the spears; they shall carry the answers, the medical answers. They shall go and use their abilities to bring about cures and bring about energy and bring about all kinds of things that will propagate the Gospel and the good news and the Word of the Lord. Therefore, look now, look as I speak,” says the Lord. “You will see things that you have not seen before and hear things that you’ve not heard before, for out of this death shall come life and out of the brutality,” says the Lord, “shall come purity, and a sound shall cover the earth,” says the Lord, “and the glory of the Lord shall cover the earth – the knowledge of the glory of the Lord shall cover the earth as the waters cover the seas,” says the Lord.

Video: Christian students walk out on talk given by noted Homosexual columnist and Obama suppoter Dan Savage after he referred to the Bible as Bullshit

Thursday, May 10th, 2012

I ran across this blog from Samuel Gonzales about Dan Savage and some remarks he said at a High School Journalism Convention. It got me to thinking and it prompted me to write these Notes on Slavery and Race

I applaud the students that had the courage to walk out of the talk. As for the other students that cheered and applauded Mr. Savage’s anti-Christian remarks, well, we’ll just have to pray for them.

Enjoy the blog

Original Blog at The Last Tradition

There’s one truism about Liberals, they really don’t take the Bible seriously and only pay lip service to it to keep people from thinking they’re undercover atheists. Then you have Libs like Dan Savage who have a deep contempt for people of faith as you’ll see in this video.

What’s really alarming is how many students stayed to listen and cheer to this contemptful speech against faith beliefs.

NewsBusters reports Dan Savage, the controversial sex advice columnist and noted anti-bullying activist, caused quite a commotion at a high school journalism convention in Seattle two weeks ago when he actually cursed at the youth audience as he spoke negatively about the Bible.

Citizen Link reported April 18 (video also follows with commentary, serious vulgarity warning):

A group of high school journalism students attending a conference called “Journalism on the Edge” in Seattle over the weekend felt they were pushed over the edge by syndicated sex advice columnist Dan Savage.

Savage, the creator of the two-year-old It Gets Better Project, which encourages teens struggling with same-sex attractions to embrace homosexuality, was invited to give a keynote address last Friday at the JEA/NSPA National High School Journalism Convention.

Students were expecting him to talk about bullying. But they also got an earful about birth control, sex, and Savage’s opinions on the Bible.

A 17-year-old from California who was attending with half a dozen other students from her high school yearbook staff, was one of several students to walk out in the middle of Savage’s speech.

“The first thing he told the audience was, ‘I hope you’re all using birth control!’ ” she recalled. Then “he said there are people using the Bible as an excuse for gay bullying, because it says in Leviticus and Romans that being gay is wrong. Right after that, he said we can ignore all the ‘B.S.’ in the Bible.

Trayvon Martin: A Pro-Life Reaction to Racial Politics

Monday, April 2nd, 2012

By Ryan Bomberger

The Radiance Foundation has been called, tweeted, and pressed to join the throngs across the nation in protesting the tragic death of Trayvon Martin. Invoking our “Black Children Are An Endangered Species” pro-life campaign, pro-abortion activists (who ignore and reject all statistics related to black genocide through abortion) demand we step into the fray.

We agree that this untimely death should be mourned. Trayvon was a young man who had an entire lifetime of opportunity ahead of him. We also feel that by blaming racism for the death of this teenager, in typical reactionary style, the public is missing opportunities to engage in a constructive national dialogue about race and unity.

We are America—a beautiful menagerie of different races, ethnicities, religions, ideologies, shapes, sizes, and colors. This tapestry is made up of the beauty that each of us has to offer. Sadly, threads of violence, greed, racism, elitism, hatred, and dishonesty have become inevitably interwoven, yet changeable, aspects of our humanity.

Anytime I see or hear Jesse Jackson or Al Sharpton in victim-du-jour exploitation mode, my Civil Wrongs radar starts sounding. Once again, in a visceral attempt to inflame racial tensions, these hucksters inject themselves into a news event (made so by our lamestream media who strangely don’t do this the other nearly 17,000 times someone is murdered in the United States). For people like the teleprompter-challenged Sharpton, racial reconciliation is never the goal—only racial manipulation.

I’m particularly amused by the media’s description of the man—a white Hispanic–responsible for allegedly racially profiling and shooting Trayvon. Hispanics, even bi-racial ones, are usually considered a minority, but for racially dividing purposes the media has depicted Zimmerman as just a white man who shot a black teen. Would that make Obama a white black, negating his “minority” status? I’m a white black, too—one whose passion is to serve as an agent of racial reconciliation.

We don’t even know the full details of this tragedy. Yet the press, ever eager to infuse racial strife every chance possible, has made this a circus. Lost in all of this clamor is reason and perspective.

There are 16,799 homicides within the United States in the last reported year according to the Department of Justice. Blacks are disproportionately victimized by these crimes at a rate 6 times higher than whites. But, blacks also make up the majority of the offenders with a rate that is 7 times higher than whites. Much of this is influenced heavily by disparate situations of poverty, and this poverty is due, in most part, to the alarming deterioration of the black family. Back in the 50s, over 80% of black families were intact two-parent married homes. Today, less than 30% of black homes are led by both mother and father, as we illuminate in our latest “Fatherhood Begins in the Womb” TooManyAborted.com campaign.

Shame on our mainstream media for contorting Trayvon’s death into a social commentary on race in America. This, while they blatantly ignored actual and provable violent racist attacks over the past several years, where black flash mobs struck terror in cities across America. Where’s the outrage for the white teen lit on fire on his own porch after being chased by older black teens? The silence from media only reinforces that they’re interested in their own twisted one-sided race narrative. According to the Department of Justice, “most murders are intraracial where 84% of white victims were killed by whites and 93% of black victims were killed by blacks.”

We need to get a grip on race in America and stop excusing violent behaviors from anyone, regardless of race or socio-economic standing.

President Obama, who naturally should be a reconciler on issues of race as he is wonderfully bi-racial, seems to squander ever opportunity when these issues arise. We’ve had the “beer summit,” the shrugging off of Black Panther voter intimidation, the silence about flash mob violence, (see Philly Mayor Nutter right) and now the personalizing of Trayvon’s death. The President stated, in part: “You know, if I had a son, he’d look like Trayvon.” These words immediately made a racial case of this, as if any loss of life, regardless of skin color, isn’t as equal a tragedy.

So, I resist any invitation to jump on a bandwagon. The Radiance Foundation values human life—all human life from conception until natural death. We also value being well informed so that we can look at this present situation and react in a way that affirms life, not widen chasms among people with divisive racial rhetoric.
