Priests for Life expands Prayer Campaign to End Abortion

Thursday, January 12th, 2012

Contact: Leslie Palma

Amarillo, TX – Fr. Frank Pavone, National Director of Priests for Life, today announced more details of the fourth element of the four-pronged attack that Priests for Life is launching this year against the abortion industry, as described in the press release a few days ago.

“Prayer is the foundation of all we do,” Fr. Frank explained. “This year, we are expanding our prayer campaign ( and asking every Church to provide its congregation with the tools they need to pray each day for an end to abortion. In particular, we have special prayers throughout the year corresponding to the Feasts and liturgical seasons that many Christians observe. The prayer cards are offered to Churches free of charge.”

“Most immediately, this Saturday begins a Novena (a nine-day period of prayer) in preparation for the sad commemoration of Roe vs. Wade, which has resulted in more death and destruction than anything else. Prayer cards can still be ordered and the prayer downloaded at,” Fr. Frank stated.

Another aspect of the Prayer Campaign is the Facebook cause “Pray to End Abortion,” now at over 80,000 members. This cause can be accessed at Priests for Life will also invite people to become “Prayer Partners for Life” and to do such things as bring special pro-life prayer intentions to their pastors and to promote prayer resources that will be generated throughout the year. Pastors can obtain prayer resources corresponding to each Sunday of the year at

These activities will be coordinated in such a way as to prepare for the 40th anniversary of Roe vs. Wade on January 22, 2013. “Between now and then, we will launch several initiatives that will grow through the course of the year and culminate in a special commemorative service on the 40th anniversary of Roe. Multiple pro-life ministries from many denominations will co-sponsor that service, which will take place in Washington, DC. Now is the time,” Fr. Frank pointed out, “to intensify our prayer efforts as never before, that a weakened abortion industry may go out of existence altogether. That’s our goal, and we will reach it.”

Pro-Life Reflections for December 12, 2011

Monday, December 12th, 2011

By Fr. Frank Pavone

A great sign appeared in heaven: a woman clothed with the sun, with the moon beneath her feet, and a crown of twelve stars on her head. – Rev. 12:1

Reflection: Our Lady of Guadalupe is the patroness of the unborn. Her image shows her as pregnant, carrying God Himself. That image converted millions of Aztecs.

Today, this image is taken to abortion clinics, where human sacrifice is practiced, and turns the despair of those mothers and fathers into the hope that brings new life.

Prayer: Jesus, through Our Lady of Guadalupe may we spread Your hope everywhere.

Priests for Life Applauds Feast of Blessed John Paul II

Tuesday, November 15th, 2011

Date: November 14, 2011

Contact: Andre Kim

Washington, DC – Fr. Frank Pavone, National Director of Priests for Life, applauded the vote this afternoon of the US Bishops to include in the United States liturgical calendar the Feast of Blessed John Paul II on October 22. After this action is approved by Rome, Churches in the United States will have the option of using the special prayers at Mass written in honor of John Paul II each year on October 22.

Fr. Pavone said, “This is a special blessing for our people, because it gives them yet another opportunity to honor the man whom many of us call the Pope of Life. A liturgical feast day is an occasion to ask for the intercession of the one who is honored, to reflect on his teachings, and to resolve to imitate his example.

“Pope John Paul II, whom I was privileged to know and under whom I worked on pro-life issues at the Vatican, has left the Church the most comprehensive and compelling body of pro-life teachings in our history. Moreover, his example of unwavering dedication to speaking up for the weakest among us – the children still in the womb – and for challenging public authority to protect them, is an example we all need more than ever. As the battle for life intensifies, we also need his intercession more than ever. Once this new liturgical feast is approved by Rome, Priests for Life will promote it vigorously within the parishes and other Catholic institutions across the United States.”

Fr. Pavone Congratulates New Chairman-Elect of Bishops’ Committee on Pro-life Activities

Monday, November 14th, 2011

Date: November 14, 2011

Contact: Andre Kim

Washington, DC – Fr. Frank Pavone, National Director of Priests for Life, congratulated His Eminence Cardinal Sean O’Malley, Archbishop of Boston, on being elected today as the next Chairman of the US Bishops’ Committee on Pro-life Activities. Cardinal O’Malley’s position will take effect next year.

“The Priests for Life association, as the Church’s largest ministry focused exclusively on ending abortion and euthanasia, works in conjunction with local bishops and their episcopal conferences around the world. For the last 20 years, we have appreciated the collaborative relationship we have had with the US Bishops’ Committee on Pro-life Activities, and we look forward to increasing that collaboration under the leadership of Cardinal O’Malley. There is no issue or challenge facing the Church that carries greater urgency and consequence for the human family than abortion. We thank the bishops for their leadership in making that clear,” Fr. Pavone stated.

Priests for Life, as a recognized association of the faithful, is not part of the structure of the US bishops’ conference. Priests for Life has its own advisory board of 20 bishops and Cardinals, as can be seen at

Priests for Life welcomes the new Mass for Human Life

Monday, October 31st, 2011

Date: October 31, 2011

Contact: Andre Kim

With the start of Advent on Nov. 27, Catholics will begin using a new, and much-discussed, translation of the Mass. Along with this there are two brand new texts for a Mass “For Giving Thanks to God for the Gift of Human Life.” This is the result of a long process that actually started with Cardinal John O’Connor of New York more than 20 years ago.

The opening prayer for the first of these masses reads as follows:

God our Creator,
we give thanks to you,
who alone have the power to impart the breath of life
as you form each of us in our mother’s womb;
grant, we pray,
that we, whom you have made stewards of creation,
may remain faithful to this sacred trust
and constant in safeguarding the dignity
of every human life.

Father Frank Pavone, National Director of Priests for Life, explained the significance of this new text.

“Drawing images from Genesis 2:7 and Psalm 139, the prayer affirms that only God can create. Parents cooperate with his creative power, but the conception of each new life is a direct choice and act of God,” Father Pavone said. “He alone owns human life — not parents, nor doctors, nor government — and he alone can take it.

Our role, as the prayer indicates, is to carry out a “sacred trust” as “stewards.” In “The Gospel of Life,” Blessed John Paul II said it this way: “Yes, every man is his ‘brother’s keeper’, because God entrusts us to one another” (EV, 19). Some think it’s none of their business to defend the life of someone else’s child. But God Himself makes it our business. The child scheduled to be killed today by abortion is our brother, our sister, our sacred trust.

“We safeguard human life in a variety of ways, including speaking words of encouragement, teaching, assisting parents, and shaping public policy. This mass text is especially appropriate to use in pro-life gatherings of those who work in the legislative and political arena”

The opening prayer for the second of these Masses reads,

O God, who adorn creation with splendor and beauty
and fashion human lives in your image and likeness,
awaken in every heart
reverence for the work of your hands,
and renew among your people
a readiness to nurture and sustain
your precious gift of human life.

“Echoing the imagery of Psalm 104 and drawing from Genesis 1:26, this prayer focuses on how human life itself reflects the image of the Creator, and therefore should evoke in our hearts a reverence and awe which should outweigh any fear in welcoming or defending human life,” Father Pavone said.

Father Pavone said this Mass is especially appropriate to use in gatherings of those who assist moms and dads in pregnancy centers, and who do spiritual and educational work in the pro-life movement.

Priests for Life has alerted every priest in the nation today regarding the texts and urges every priest to use them frequently.

Priests for Life Welcomes Appointment of New Papal Nuncio to U.S.

Wednesday, October 19th, 2011

Date: October 19, 2011

Contact: Andre Kim

STATEN ISLAND, N.Y. – Father Frank Pavone, National Director of Priests for Life, and the entire pastoral team of its various ministries, welcomed today the news of the appointment of Archbishop Carlo Maria Vigano as papal nuncio to the United States.

“Archbishop Vigano will receive a warm welcome from the Church in the United States, as well as from the various associations, such as our own, who advance the work of the Church in union with the Holy Father,” Father Pavone said. “In particular, the pro-life movement looks forward to working with the new Nuncio, as we seek to build a Culture of Life. Christians of every denomination will find encouragement through the words and sentiments of the Holy Father that will be conveyed on various occasions by the Nuncio.”

Referring to next year’s Presidential election, Father Pavone said, “The Nuncio has indicated that, in relation to the upcoming elections, he will consult with the bishops and learn from them. We also look forward to the fruitful interaction between the Nuncio and the many organizations, associations, and movements that work to promote political responsibility among the faithful in the United States, and to do so in such a way that is free from unwarranted and crippling fears that take refuge in misrepresentations, often found at the diocesan level, of what the law says Churches may or may not do regarding elections.”

God’s Name Not Written on MLK Memorial Stones a Missed Opportunity Says Dr. Alveda King

Tuesday, October 18th, 2011

October 18, 2011

Phone: 757-593-9982

ATLANTA, GA – Dr. Alveda C. King, Founder of King for America commented today on the newly dedicated MLK Memorial Site. The MLK quotes on the 450 foot wall surrounding the Mountain of Despair and Stone of Hope have received scrutiny and praises from visitors.

“This missed opportunity to carve GOD’s Name on the wall still presents another opportunity. Many people don’t know that Uncle M. L. was a preacher of the Gospel of Jesus Christ. It stands to reason that they have never heard of his devotion to Jesus Christ and his message of God’s agape love. I wasn’t consulted on the design of the site, still I see this as a teaching moment to encourage people to read King’s sermons.”

During a pre-dedication tour, Alveda asked why the name of God wasn’t inscribed in some of the quotes. She was told that the effort was to be global and universal in scope and that the hope was that people would depart the site wanting to know more about her uncle. “In the Old Testament, God carved His Word on stones. Today, His Word is inscribed in the human heart. While this as a politically correct versus spiritually aware type of issue, I als see this as an opportunity to witness the love of God and to invite people to read Uncle M. L.’s sermons and learn of his ministry.”

During the dedication activities, Mrs. Naomi King, widow of Rev. A. D. King placed a creation video, a copy of The Beloved Community letter and Alveda’s book HOW CAN THE DREAM SURVIVE in the MLK Time Capsule. Alveda was there to support her mother.

The Priests for Life Pastoral Associate was also reflective on President Obama’s commemorative speech on October 16, 2011 when the MLK Memorial Park Site was dedicated. “For an unforgettable moment in human history, President Obama laid aside the political gauntlet to simply remember a man who dedicated his life in service to humanity. I really appreciated the gesture, and President Obama is in my prayers.”

King who recently announced that she prefers “policy over politics” went on to note that her political views are different from the President’s in that she is pro-life and supports procreative marriage, while President Obama supports programs that seem to favor anti-life efforts, with Planned Parenthood being at the top of the list.

Official Statement on Protests by Fr. Frank Pavone

Wednesday, September 28th, 2011

Date: September 27, 2011

Contact: Andre Kim

I’m here in Amarillo and every few seconds some message of support comes in via e-mail, text, or phone. I’ve spent the last 20 years building up relationships with pro-life activists throughout the nation and around the world, and I can tell you it’s enormously gratifying to me to have such a wide array of friends.

As I have said in previous interviews (e.g. Al Kresta), I would not presume to tell others how to exercise their expressive rights under the U.S. Constitution, but I want to encourage everyone in this great pro-life movement of ours to continue to be to calm, respectful, thoughtful, peaceful and above all prayerful in the manner in which they go about supporting me, personally, and the Priests for Life family of ministries that I head.

Priests for Life has not taken the approach of public battles with, or criticism of, the hierarchy. When there are problems or disagreements or miscommunications that involve the Church leadership, Priests for Life addresses them quietly, respectfully, and behind the scenes.

The current situation has been thrust upon us; we did not seek it, and we hope our actions so far have reflected adequately the respect we have for the shepherds of our Church. Be assured we are neither organizing nor endorsing public protests of any kind.

Alveda King Bible Study

Monday, September 26th, 2011

August 2009

Ezra 8:22 – For I was ashamed to ask the king for a band of soldiers and horsemen to protect us against the enemy on our way, since we had told the king, The hand of our God is for good on all who seek him, and the power of his wrath is against all who forsake him.

Neh. 1:3 – The remnant there in the province who had survived the exile is in great trouble and shame. The wall of Jerusalem is broken down, and its gates are destroyed by fire. 4 As soon as I heard these words I sat down and wept and mourned for days, and I continued fasting and praying before the God of heaven.

Neh. 2:8 – for the good hand of my God was upon me.

During personal Bible study time, it came to me that we should be ashamed to say that we are trusting God, then turning to the world’s solutions for our problems. I don’t mean that we can’t use what is available to use, because the wealth of the wicked is laid up for the just. But are we trusting God to guide us in taking possession of the “spoils,” or are we relying on getting the goods by our own strength? For example, the stimulus package surely has some “hidden treasures” in it for us, but do we rely on God to direct our approach for the solutions or are we looking to God while using earthly tools? I can’t say that God will never instruct someone to do something that we as Christians would ordinarily not try, because Peter had a dream to eat “unclean” food and God told him not to say what was clean or not, but to let God make those decisions. But do we come up with schemes on our own and then say God blessed us if we happen to win? I think not.

When Nehemiah and his company were rebuilding the city, there was an order to the process. We would do well to operate in these days according to the pattern of the WORD of GOD Hebrews 8:5). ABBA Creator Father God, Lord Jesus and Holy Spirit must be our answers to every need! There is much to be learned for today’s battle in the book of Nehemiah.

First, they rebuilt the Sheep Gate (recovering the Sheep of The Shepherd of Psalm 23 for this present season). Then, they rebuilt the Fish Gate (for the Fishers of men of Mt. 4:19 and Mark 1:17). Next, they rebuilt the Gate of Yeshanah (the Old City, representing biblical foundations). After that, the Dung Gate (self explanatory).

Then, it’s on to repair and open the Fountain Gate (the flow of Holy Spirit and the washing of the WORD and the cleansing of The Blood of Jesus. Next, Repair the pool of Shelah (which means leading – being led by the Spirit of God), into the Kings Garden (where we should find the fruit of the Spirit of Galatians in manifestation in the Saints), on to the artificial (manmade) pool (as in man made solutions such as grants, stimulus plans, etc. which are not all bad, but are not to be relied upon, simply used as we are led by Holy Spirit). Next, repair the houses of the Mighty (prayer warriors and worshippers) Men (and women since in the Spirit there are no male and female, bond or free, only Christ, Lord of all). Then we repair the districts (under the guidance of evangelists, prophets, teachers, preachers, and the ministry gifts assigned to local church bodies in their dominion territories).

Then, the branch ministries, supported by the Armory (spiritual warfare) which through prayer buttresses the Door of the High Priest (here prayer is a buttress or support and reinforcement for the work of the Ministry of the Saints of GOD) so the imagery and reality of prayer supporting and leading up to the Door of the High Priest is very profound! This path here leads around the Houses of the Servants of ABBA to the Tower of the Court of the Guard (prayer watches)!

Then there is repair of the Water Gate, (living water that Jesus speaks of in John 4:10, 4:11, 7:38 and Revelations 7:17) with the Water being brought in daily, hourly and breath by breath through the labor of Prayer! Often it was the women who carried the water because the men were so encumbered with worldly affairs during the day. Yet the hour is here now where all must worship ABBA in spirit and in truth (John 4:23-24). For me, this revelation coincides with 2 Chronicles 7:14). If my people, which are called by my name, shall humble themselves, and pray, and seek my face, and turn from their wicked ways; then will I hear from heaven, and will forgive their sin, and will heal their land.

After this, the Horse Gate (jobs, promotions, prosperity, etc.) to every house and every chamber. All of this process affects the restoration of the House of the Temple Servants, and finally to the Muster Gate which means the inspection or judgment gate and for some the prison gate, but for many the victory gate. What an opportunity for healing and restoration this process brings, for spirit, soul and body!

Men like Ezra and Nehemiah realized that they could accomplish nothing on their own. Indeed, in John 5: 19 and 30, Lord Jesus says of Himself, He can do nothing. He goes on in John 15:5 to reveal Himself as the Vine and us as the branches.

This particular lesson ended with me realizing that one thing that is needed today is much prayer and devotion to ABBA, our mighty Father Creator God! Nehemiah was wise to set the workers to laboring with one hand and doing spiritual warfare with the other hand, while half worked, half prayed nonstop! (Nehemiah 5:6).

The thing is, today, while many are going around to Town Hall meetings, screaming and yelling, bringing about envy and strife and every evil work (James 3:14), we as The Body of Christ are called to prayer and worship where we will find answers and strength for victory. Yes, we can go to a Town Hall meeting, but go in the love and grace of GOD, and people will hear HIM in this hour!

So, our Kingdom work today includes restoring, reviving and feeding the Sheep (people of God), catching the Fish (the lost souls in the world) through evangelism and salvation for the lost, reinforcing the Bible foundations (though mature Christians need milk and meat, the new Christians need to know the foundations, we can all use the WORD), and then, once people are restored, revived, saved and taught, the dung (waste, sin, etc.) needs to be carted out of the Kingdom. On to the Fountain, the Leading of the Holy Spirit, the King’s Garden, the Artificial Man Made solutions, rising of the Mighty Warriors, Prayer and Service Districts, Prayer Buttress at the Door of the High Priest, our homes, The Prayer Tower, Prayer Watches, then to the Horse Gate, or our jobs, and our prosperity from which we tithe and give for the Kingdom, and we are blessed, and healed and full of joy!

Today, in our nation and across the globe, we are threatened by concepts and forces that would like to advance abortion, the destruction of the Bible Model for Marriage and Family, the euthanasia of the elderly and infirm, racism, poverty, crime, famine, drought, a crashing economy, I don’t need to rehearse the list.

My own testimony, being healed after the destruction of abortion on my own life and the lives of my preborn children. Being a victim of the population control genocide eugenics campaign that is still prevalent today. How can the Dream Survive if we murder our children? Acts 17:26 teaches us that we are one human race, designed and created of “one blood.” If we want to see another race of people, we will have to look to Star Trek!

Yet, are we looking to GOD for deliverance? Or are we looking to human ability? The Bible also warns us of naysayers like Sanballat and Tobiahs, and the doubters and scorners of the New Testament. Everyone who offers assistance or sympathy is not your friend! Use discernment, try the spirits by the Spirit of the Living God!

GOD wants to deliver us! He wants to repair the breech and rebuild our communities. Let us pray!
