Many of the biggest names in the pro-life movement will speak at the March for Life Youth Rally to take place Tuesday, Jan. 21, from 2 to 5 p.m. at the Hyatt Regency Capitol Hill in Washington, D.C.
Bryan Kemper, founder of Stand True, the Youth Outreach of Priests for Life, was tasked by the March for Life to organize and build this event, now in its third year. The rally was booked solid three months before the March and the waiting list is in the thousands. James Nolan of Crossroads will host the event with Kemper.
“March organizers saw how vital young people are, both to the March and to the pro-life movement, and made this rally an official March event,” Kemper said. “This generation is committed to being the generation that ends legal abortion in this country and when thousands of them are together under one roof, they can move mountains.”
Emceeing the rally will be Eric Scheidler of the Pro-Life Action League. Speakers will include Father Frank Pavone, national director of Priests for Life; Dr. Alveda King, director of African-American Outreach for Priests for Life; Janet Morana, co-founder of the Silent No More Awareness Campaign; Troy Newman of Operation Rescue; Lila Rose of Live Action; Ryan Scott Bomberger of the Radiance Foundation, and many others.
Noting that this is the third year that the Youth Rally has been on the official March for Life roster of events, Father Pavone said busloads of high school and college students from all over the country energize the March and assure leaders who have been in the trenches for decades that their work will continue and spread.
“As these young people gather, it is so clear that they want to learn what they can do to end abortion in their own school, Church, and community. That is why, as we bring so many leaders together to address them, we provide them, and their families, with concrete, practical resources and ideas that save lives,” Fr. Pavone said. “And we tell them that right here and now, they are already leaders in the pro-life movement.”
You would think that an organization whose mission is “to advocate for education professionals and to unite our members and the nation to fulfill the promise of public education to prepare every student to succeed in a diverse and interdependent world” would want success for every person, including the unborn because, after all, they too will be students one day. In fact, they are students as they begin learning the voice of their caretakers from inside the mother’s womb.
As Jaclyn Stewart points out in an article, “Studies show that even in the womb, your baby is listening. If you talk to your baby frequently during your pregnancy, or even just talk a lot in general, your baby will be able to recognize the sound of your voice when he[/she] his born. This is an important first step in the learning process
It is admirable for an organization to provide a “public education to prepare every student to succeed” only if it applies to ALL students.
Georgia Right to Life, in cooperation with other pro-life groups, is organizing a protest at this year’s NEA Convention in Atlanta, GA at the Georgia World Congress Center on July 1, 2013 from 8:30 am to 12:30 pm. The NEA Convention is June 26-July 6, 2013 with some 16,000 members expected to attend. Your help and participation is needed to show support for the youngest of students, the student learning from what should be the safest schools of all, free from violence; free from discrimination; a smoke free environment; and provided with healthy meals.
Lurking beneath this admirable mission, however, lays a deceptive family planning resolution, as follows:
• “The National Education Association supports family planning, including the right to reproductive freedom.
• The Association urges the government to give high priority to making available all methods of family planning to women and men unable to take advantage of private facilities.
• The Association also urges the implementation of community-operated, school-based family planning clinics that will provide intensive counseling by trained personnel.”
At the 1998 NEA Assembly in New Orleans, LA, a first time delegate asked the following 3-part question (from the resolution above) at the microphone:
• Through the words “reproductive freedom” in our Resolutions document, does the NEA support the choice to abort after the first trimester?
Response from the chair: Yes.
• Through the words “reproductive freedom” in our Resolutions document, does the NEA support a woman’s choice to abort after viability?
Response from the chair: Yes.
• Through the words “reproductive freedom” in our Resolutions document, does the NEA support the decision to abort up to, and including delivery, commonly termed by the media a “partial birth abortion?”
Response from the chair: We have NO limitations.
According to their website, their vision is a great public school for every student offering equal opportunity. By equal opportunity they “believe public education is the gateway to opportunity. All students have the human and civil right to a quality public education that develops their potential, independence, and character.” [Emphasis added]
The NEA espouses great sounding rhetoric like “We believe public education is vital to building respect for the worth, dignity, and equality of every individual in our diverse society” while with the other hand committing $60 million for President Obama’s re-election campaign in 2012, the most pro-abortion president in America’s history.
If you live in Atlanta and you believe that ALL students, born and unborn, deserve a quality education, public or private, show your support by coming out to the Georgia World Congress Center July 1 8:30 am to 12:30 pm. Stand with other like minded teachers, students, mothers, fathers, clergy, and other pro-lifers to demand that the NEA remain neutral on the issue of abortion. If you can’t come for the full four hours, come when you can. If you can’t come or you don’t live in Atlanta, please spend some time praying for those that will show up and for the NEA, that they will stand for life in addition to education of our children.
This article was sent to me by another pro-lifer. It has a lot of good information that again gives me reason for caution when dealing with the Girls Scouts. As Edmund Burke said, “All that is necessary for the triumph of evil is for good men to do nothing.” The abortion industry is welcome in the Girl Scouts organization and even though they should know better, the Girl Scouts are allowing the abortion/contraceptives industry’s ugly and intrusive presence. In their own words, the Girl Scouts “Does not take a position” on sexuality, birth control, or abortion. By not taking a position, they are allowing others to define their agendas. Parents should rise up and demand that so called friends of our daughters stop pretending to help girls while they are destroying them.
Article by Mary Hasson
March 11, 2013
The Girl Scouts’ Law insists that Girl Scouts be “responsible for what I say and do.” When it comes to abortion, however, the Girl Scouts USA “says” the magic words that keep pro-life members in the fold (i.e. that Girl Scouts “does not take a position” on sexuality, birth control, or abortion).
What they “do” behind the scenes is another story.
GSUSA’s hefty brand power—and funding—continue to fuel the pro-abortion advocacy of the World Association of Girl Guides and Girl Scouts (“WAGGGS”). And the Girl Scouts have refused once again to take responsibility for that.
I recently exchanged emails with two Girl Scouts USA spokespersons, Joshua Ackley and Michelle Tompkins, asking them to clarify the Girl Scouts’ “no position” stance in light of WAGGGS’ leadership on the pro-abortion Bali Global Youth Forum Declaration (December, 2012). Their responses highlight GSUSA’s corporate unwillingness to take any actions to distance themselves from WAGGGS’ global advocacy for youth “sexual rights” and abortion—even though WAGGGS claims to speak for all its members, including GSUSA.
First, realize how radical the Bali Youth Declaration really is: it asserts “sexual rights” for youth (including 10 year-olds) on nearly every page and demands, over a dozen times, youth access to “abortion” or “reproductive rights” and services. It marginalizes families—decrying parental consent and “age of consent” restrictions in sexual and reproductive matters—and casts religious objections to LBGT lifestyles as “religious intolerance.” Not surprisingly, the pro-abortionchorus embraces the Declaration.
There’s more to know about the Bali Declaration, but what’s most relevant here are the architects behind its design.
The Declaration reflects the handiwork of the Global Youth Forum’s International Steering Committee, a group stacked with abortion providers and abortion-advocacy groups, such as the International Planned Parenthood Federation (IPPF) and the Youth Coalition.
Who else’s fingerprints are all over the Declaration? WAGGGS.
WAGGGS was heavily invested in formulating the Declaration. Its leaders, including WAGGGS’ Senior Advocacy Coordinator, not only served on the Forum’s Steering Committee, but also worked for six months on the Taskforcesthat shaped the conference agenda, the resulting Declaration, and follow-up activities. At the Bali summit, WAGGGS representatives facilitated breakout sessions and presented youth “recommendations” to the plenary sessions. Now WAGGGS promotes the Declaration and advocates for its implementation.
So that leaves the Girl Scouts with a problem.
In light of their officially neutral position on abortion, it should have been a no-brainer for the Girl Scouts to repudiate the radical, pro-abortion Bali Declaration. Or at least to clarify that WAGGGS’ does not speak for GSUSA when it advocates on sexual and reproductive matters, including the Bali Declaration.
We continue to receive reports that the Girl Scouts continue to support pro-abortion advocacy groups and continue to teach our young girls promiscuity.
You hate to think that it could be so; I know I do. Everyone loves their cookies, even if you don’t buy them because of weight issues, most everyone has tried them at one point or another. And although their cookies are good, the agenda of the Girl Scouts, at least at the National and International levels, is not good.
It’s my understanding that each Girl Scouts Council gets to decide what they will do and what they will teach our girls. However, they don’t get to decide where that money from the sale of the cookies will go.
In fact, of the $3.50 (cost of a box of cookies), the local troop only gets .59. The rest goes to other expenses and $1.89 goes to the Council to do with/partner with whoever they please.
So before you purchase a box of cookies from a local Girl Scouts troop, find out what they teach their scouts and what the Council does with their portion of the money.
Better yet, get involved with your local Girl Scouts Troop and start making a change from the inside.
Earlier this week a story broke about a Staten Island high school dispensing the morning-after pill to students without notifying the parents.
In an article by Jillian Jorgensen on silive.com, she reports that “Port Richmond High School is one of 13 public high schools across the city making emergency contraception — better known as the morning-after pill — available to girls without parental consent.”
One of my co-workers at Priests for Life, Marie Elliott-Saile, who was interviewed for the article is very upset by this because her 15-year-old daughter attends Port Richmond. Although the school system says that they sent letters home for parents to opt out of the program, Marie said that she never receive a letter telling her about the program.
The article also states that Janet Morana, executive director of Priests for Life, who was also interviewed for the article, says that “the program is just an extension of the law that allows girls to get an abortion without parental consent” and “that contraceptive pills like Plan B — which prevents pregnancy by using hormones the way normal birth control pills do, but in a higher dose — can increase the risk of cancer, and if a girl is adversely affected, her parents and their insurance would be left to deal with her care.
“I think it’s just horrific that this is all allowed to be done,” she said. “It shouldn’t have to be opt-out. You should have to opt in. The parent should have to consent to this because it’s affecting your child, your minor child.”
They are very tricky in the way that these programs are implemented. Unlike most other types of health related items like aspirin, the school cannot give it to students without permission given without parental consent. Why don’t schools just send letters to parents telling them that they will be able to give them any medication unless the parents opt their children out? Parents would not stand for it.
Yet when it comes to something as harmful as birth control nobody bats an eye. Most parents don’t stand up for their children. I applaud Marie and Janet for their willingness to stand up for the students.
I was interviewed by Sean Hannity on Tuesday regarding this story. The interview can be heard at my African American Outreach HERE.

“Daughters of Jerusalem, I charge you: Do not arouse or awaken love until it so desires. – Song of Songs 8:4
Don’t have sex until marriage. Waking up sexual desires too early leads to pain. Promoting sexual imaging and messaging to young girls and teenage women leads to excessive promiscuity.
Such is the warning Victoria Hearst, an heir to the Hearst publishing empire, and Nicole Weider, a former super fashion model, have embarked on sharing with local, state, and federal lawmakers. Ms. Hearst recently joined Ms. Weider in her campaign to put Hearst Corporation’s sexually explicit Cosmopolitan magazine in a wrapper and ensure that it is sold only to those over the age of 18.
Victoria warns, “The magazine promotes a lifestyle that can be dangerous to women’s emotional and physical well being.” Ms. Hearst is correct; and since such messaging is not good for adult women, can you imagine how harmful it is for little girls and teenagers to find at eye level in the checkout lines at the stores where they shop with their parents?
As Hollie McKay writes in her article, “Pick up the latest issue, with teen idol and star of ABC Family’s “Pretty Little Liars” Lucy Hale on the cover, and you’ll see everything from “25 Sex Moves He Secretly Wishes You’d Try” to “The Naughty Orgasm Trick Couples Love.” An earlier edition, with Ashley Greene as cover girl, offers readers “52 Sex Tips” and information about what to do “when your vagina acts weird after sex.”
Sexual promiscuity has become the norm in today’s culture. With the massive dollars being spent by Planned Parenthood and like organization and companies to spread the message that sex is a right of every man, woman, and child, trying to teach our children moral chastity seems next to impossible. The “do it if feels good” mentality of our society our children receive hundreds of times a day for not more has warped the conscience of our youth, especially for those that don’t have a strong father and mother at home teaching them God’s word.
Planned Parenthood had done everything in its power to promote sex to children and teenagers as is evident by a report done by American Life League. Their disregard for the welfare of children is just another example that all their care about is the mighty dollar and as the video at ALL shows, repeat business at the expense of our children.
We need to pray for our children and our country. We need to listen to God’s word and turn back to Him. Let’s pray for Victoria and Nicole, that thousands will join them in this effort to educate families regarding the harm done to our girls and women. Let’s put Cosmo magazine in the bag on the shelves of America, out of reach of our most precious gems, our children.
Priests for Life Youth Outreach Director Bryan Kemper is a plaintiff in a new First Amendment lawsuit filed against Sinclair Community College in Ohio and its campus police.
On June 8, Kemper, the founder of Stand True Ministry, was a speaker at the Stand Up for Religious Freedom Rally at the college. The rally was one of 100 such rallies taking place across the country that day to protest the Obama administration’s mandate that all employers have to provide free contraception, abortifacient drugs and sterilization services for their workers.
Campus police would not allow demonstrators to hold their signs at the rally, continuing a tradition of First Amendment violations that, according to the Foundation for Individual Rights in Education (FIRE), has been going on at the school for 22 years.
“Schools are meant for the free expression of ideas, but Sinclair has taken the stance that its students must check their free speech rights at the door,” said Peter Breen executive director and legal counsel of the Thomas More Society, which filed the lawsuit in U.S. District Court for the Southern District of Ohio on behalf of two Sinclair students and Kemper.
“It is imperative that we fight for our rights to not be taken away or it will be almost impossible to fight to get them back,” Kemper said. “I am fighting this injustice not just for me, but for my son Jaemison, who was there watching the rights of so many being trampled.
“Jaemison may only be 7 years old,” Kemper continued, “but he and his siblings will someday face a situation when their rights and liberties may be challenged. I want him to have the courage and the means to stand true when that day comes and to know that his father refused to cower in the face of adversity.”
Priests for Life organized the well-attended New York City Stand Up Rally, at which attendees, like those all over the country, were able to express themselves with signs and placards. Father Frank Pavone, National Director of Priests for Life, said of the Ohio situation:
“Thank you, Sinclair Community College and police department. There are few better ways to motivate pro-life people than to tell them to shut up. I’m not sure if it’s our message or the First Amendment that you don’t fully understand, but we’re going to see to it that you learn more about both.”
As we await the Supreme Court’s decision on Obamacare, a few things come to mind.
I was thinking about the various outcomes and the ramifications they will have. Will the Supreme Court strike down the whole law as unconstitutional leaving our healthcare system in dire need of some type of reform. Will they strike down only parts of the bill, and if so, what parts will they strike down. Will abortion funding still be a part of the bill that stands. And what if they decide that the law is constitutional as it stands, trampling on our religious liberties and our conscious rights.
Whatever the decision is, it will affect every American in one way or another. For me and the ministry that God has called me to, the main part of the bill that concerns me is the funding of abortion, the HHS mandate to provide insurance coverage of reproductive health services to all employees, and any part that infringes on my ability to exercise my conscience and first amendment rights.
I knew we were in trouble when Rep. Pelosi said, “we have to pass the bill so that you can find out what is in it.” To this day we are still finding out “what is in it” and most of it is not good.
LifeNews had an article that explained some of the provisions in the bill that, if not struck down completely, would still be of concern to pro-lifers and would continue funneling money to the abortion industry, taxpayer money and your own personal money through insurance regulations.
In another article written by Kristan Hawkins, Executive Director, Students for Life of America, talks of the pro-life generation and as Kristan writes, “.. Students for Life is here [Supreme Court steps], ready to go to make sure, that regardless of the outcome, our voice is heard. We want to be the first pro-lifers at the Supreme Court when this decision is announced to show the nation that this generation is pro-life, and we are ready for whatever the Supreme Court decides. Students for Life never stops, whether it’s mobilizing at the Supreme Court or starting and training over 720 pro-life groups on college campuses across the country. We’re there, every day at every hour, ensuring that the next generation is truly the pro-life generation.” It’s great to see the youth of our nations to be so energized and ready to stand up for the least among us.
As we wait for the decision, let’s continue to pray for the members of the Supreme Court and for the decision that this bill be struck down as unconstitutional. Let’s pray for the Obama administration, that they will start listening to the people of this country and stop trampling all over our rights. Let’s pray for the defunding of Planned Parenthood. Let’s pray for equal protection for all Americans regardless of their developmental stage or size. Let’s pray for those that have had abortions or have participated in an abortion, that they will find healing, forgiveness, and repentance.
Our country has gone down a dark road for so long and our eyes have adjusted to the lack of light in this dark place that we find ourselves in that many can’t see the truth for the lack of light in their lives. In John 8:12 Jesus said, “I am the light of the world. Whoever follows me will never walk in darkness, but will have the light of life.” We need to turn back to God and away from the darkness.
I ran across this blog from Samuel Gonzales about Dan Savage and some remarks he said at a High School Journalism Convention. It got me to thinking and it prompted me to write these Notes on Slavery and Race
I applaud the students that had the courage to walk out of the talk. As for the other students that cheered and applauded Mr. Savage’s anti-Christian remarks, well, we’ll just have to pray for them.
There’s one truism about Liberals, they really don’t take the Bible seriously and only pay lip service to it to keep people from thinking they’re undercover atheists. Then you have Libs like Dan Savage who have a deep contempt for people of faith as you’ll see in this video.
What’s really alarming is how many students stayed to listen and cheer to this contemptful speech against faith beliefs.
NewsBusters reports Dan Savage, the controversial sex advice columnist and noted anti-bullying activist, caused quite a commotion at a high school journalism convention in Seattle two weeks ago when he actually cursed at the youth audience as he spoke negatively about the Bible.
Citizen Link reported April 18 (video also follows with commentary, serious vulgarity warning):
A group of high school journalism students attending a conference called “Journalism on the Edge” in Seattle over the weekend felt they were pushed over the edge by syndicated sex advice columnist Dan Savage.
Savage, the creator of the two-year-old It Gets Better Project, which encourages teens struggling with same-sex attractions to embrace homosexuality, was invited to give a keynote address last Friday at the JEA/NSPA National High School Journalism Convention.
Students were expecting him to talk about bullying. But they also got an earful about birth control, sex, and Savage’s opinions on the Bible.
A 17-year-old from California who was attending with half a dozen other students from her high school yearbook staff, was one of several students to walk out in the middle of Savage’s speech.
“The first thing he told the audience was, ‘I hope you’re all using birth control!’ ” she recalled. Then “he said there are people using the Bible as an excuse for gay bullying, because it says in Leviticus and Romans that being gay is wrong. Right after that, he said we can ignore all the ‘B.S.’ in the Bible.
Members of the Survivors Campus Life Tour were arrested yesterday during a lawful pro-life outreach at a public high school. It does not matter whether you agree with using graphic abortion images or not, this is a violation of their civil rights and an attack on free speech.
The Survivors was founded by Jeff White who is also my mentor and the co-founder of Rock for Life with me. Jeff is the reason I started in full time pro-life work almost 20 years ago; he is an inspiration to so many young pro-lifers. The Survivors is truly one of the most important youth pro-life organizations in the world. These are my roots.
As Youth Outreach Director for Priests for Life, my job is to help educate, activate and equip young people to be a voice for life in this culture of death. When courageous young people like the Survivors are arrested for standing up for life and practicing free speech we must be outraged. We at Priests for Life stand by the Survivors, they are an inspiration to young pro-lifers around the world.
Father Frank Pavone, National Director of Priests for Life said, “Those who are persecuting these brave young pro-life activists are cowards, and a good example of what is wrong in our culture today. I consider the Survivors to be a movement within the pro-life movement, inspiring all of us to give ourselves more generously for the unborn. Sometimes that means arrest and prison, not for doing wrong, but for standing up against wrongdoing.”
Here are the reports coming in from the Survivors Facebook Page and some action items you can do to help these young, brave pro-life warriors. We will keep adding updates as they come in.
BREAKING NEWS: Survivors arrested in Jackson, Mississippi! The Campus Life Team were arrested for standing on a public sidewalk in front of Murrah High this afternoon. Moments after arriving at the campus to share the message of Life, Kristina Garza and Brianna Baxter were handcuffed and taken to the county jail while two more members had their signs and lit taken from them and were forced across the street. Please pray as the Survivors continue standing for their first amendment rights in this situation! We will keep you updated.
URGENT REQUEST: The Survivors are STILL being punitively held at the Hinds County Jail. At this point, Jackson will probably attempt to hold them overnight. Do you want to help the Survivors? Call the Hinds County Jail booking office RIGHT NOW and ask that the Survivors be released! Call 601-857-4800, ask for Deputy Williams (booking Deputy).
LOCAL NEWS: As quoted in this news article from WAPT, the superintendent of Jackson Public Schools and local law enforcement say they had “no recourse but to arrest the demonstrators,” claiming the Survivors were trespassing and creating a safety issue. The Survivors were on a PUBLIC SIDEWALK when they were arrested, peacefully handing out literature and holding signs. Murrah, the only safety issue we see is your administration endangering our right to freedom of speech.
KEEP THE CALLS GOING! Survivors have just found out that Jackson PD is holding the team because the Campus Enforcement will not release the paperwork. The more calls coming into the booking office, the faster they will move to get that paperwork! PLEASE CALL 601-857-4800, request to speak with Deputy Williams (booking deputy), ask him why they haven’t released the young pro-lifers arrested early this afternoon!
UPDATE: Jackson PD kept Kristina Garza and Brianna Baxter in the county jail all night after unlawfully arresting them yesterday afternoon for “disorderly conduct” and “interfering with a bus driver.” BOTH FALSE CHARGES. The Survivors were handing out literature on a public sidewalk — an activity that is well within their rights as citizens and which poses no danger to anyone around them. Kristina and Brianna will go before the judge at 9 AM this morning. PLEASE KEEP THEM IN YOUR PRAYERS!
Update 10:25 AM Both Kristina and Brianna are being held on $2000 bonds each. They were not put on the court docket today but the rest of the team is trying hard to get them added to this afternoon’s docket. Please pray that they get in front of a judge this afternoon and do not have to spend anymore time behind bars.
Update 2:30 PM Both Kristina and Brianna are being RELEASED! The judge has decided to release both of the Survivors, trusting them to show back up for a court hearing on April 6th. We are praying that the charges are dropped before that date.
Update: 6:30 PM Here is the official press release and video of the arrests:
On March 5. 2012, the Survivors Campus Life Team attempted to distribute literature to and engage students in discussion about abortion at Murrah High School in Jackson, MS. Within minutes, school administration and Jackson police officers attempted to block Survivors missionaries from sharing their message, ordered students off the public sidewalk, threatened to arrest the Campus Life Team missionaries, and went so far as to grab missionaries’ signs and cameras.
Pro-Life Youth Arrested for Peaceful Free Speech Activity on Public Sidewalk
Life Legal Defense Foundation Defends Activists in Mississippi
JACKSON, Miss., March 7, 2012 /Christian Newswire/ — Yesterday, two college-age members of the Survivors Campus Life Tour were arrested on a public sidewalk outside of Murrah High School in Jackson, Mississippi, while distributing literature to students in front of the campus.
The group of pro-life youth activists first attempted to hold signs, distribute literature, and peacefully dialogue with students on the public sidewalk on Monday. Jackson School Police Officers immediately confronted the group and moved their signs across the street, sequestered students back inside the school grounds, and ordered students not to take the literature being handed out or speak with the demonstrators. The police claimed that the sidewalk belonged to the school and that they had a right to remove the pro-life activists. At the same time, the Survivors observed that the same sidewalk they were denied access to was being used by passersby and joggers.
After conferring with their attorneys from the Life Legal Defense Foundation (LLDF), the Campus Life Team returned to the public sidewalk in front of Murrah High School yesterday. When the police told the activists to leave the sidewalk or go to jail, Kristina Garza and Brianna Baxter remained, and were immediately arrested.
“Law enforcement officers and officers of the court are charged with protecting our civil liberties, but in this case they are intentionally conspiring to subvert the legal process and deny these pro-life advocates their right to due process of law,” said Dana Cody, executive director of Life Legal Defense Foundation. “Rest assured, everyone involved in the miscarriage of justice will be held accountable for their misdeeds.”
