As Juneteenth approaches, Civil Rights for the Unborn – the African-American outreach for Priests for Life – has unveiled a new logo that makes clear that “justice for all” must include the unborn.

Evangelist Alveda King, who became Priests for Life’s first African-American Outreach director in 2004, said the new logo is a visual reminder that all human lives matter, born or pre-born.

“At Civil Rights for the Unborn, we stress that a child in the womb is a separate and unique individual who has the same inalienable right to life as all of us,” she said. “But we also care about the mothers who feel driven to abortion by personal circumstances. We hope to reach moms before they make the irrevocable choice to abort their children, and we also want to contact mothers who have already bought the abortion lie and are suffering as a result, as I did for many years.”

Father Frank Pavone, National Director of Priests for Life, said he and Evangelist King – the niece of Rev. Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. – came together when both realized that the pro-life movement is the civil rights movement of the 21st century.

“The right to life is the most fundamental and most important right we have,” Father Pavone said. “No other civil rights issue of our day is more important than securing the right to life for the human beings still in their mother’s womb.”

In observance of Juneteenth this year, Evangelist King is asking people to visit the website www.CRUJuneteenth.com and signup for a social media Tweetfest taking place on Twitter on June 17, from 12 – 1 PM. Use the hashtags #FreetheBabiesServetheMothers and #Juneteenth2016 and help them go viral.

Also, visit www.CivilRightsfortheUnborn.com and signup for important updates on the movement.

“For our pro-life efforts to be successful,” Evangelist King said, “we’ve got to love them both.”

Priests for Life is the nation’s largest Catholic pro-life organization dedicated to ending abortion and euthanasia. For more information, visit www.priestsforlife.org.

Sis. Alveda, I don’t remember for sure, but I believe that we used to e-mail each other some time ago. I am the Jonathan Smith who, at the time was trying to recover from an automobile accident, and we used to pray for each other. First, thanks for being a friend then, and praying with me. Second if’ it’s not you, then, do you have a sister? It has been a long time ago, and was just trying to reach out to you, and say hello, and GOD’S blessings. Shalom my sister, Shalom.

  4. Jonathan Smith says:

The more I look at your birth date, I have to ask myself is there another Sister Alveda? Thank you again.

  5. Alveda King says:

Jonathan, thank you for reaching out to me. I don’t have any memory of the events you describe but thanks for your blessings. Shalom and God’s blessing to you, too!

So inspired by your intelligent passion, elegant and articulate description of true civil rights! Just heard you on the Drew Mariani, Relevant Radio Program, and am so thankful Our Lord has blessed us with your insight and wisdom. I can’t agree more, if we don’t respect life, nothing else matters regarding political issues. I also can’t comprehend why these large corporations support Planned Parenthood’s efforts in killing/murdering their future customers. So grateful for your educating us on the importance of education and knowledge of our history, especially about the intentions of Ms. Sangar. I would love to have a bumper sticker that says, “CIVIL RIGHTS FROM THE WOMB TO THE TOMB/ HUMAN DIGNITY AND RESPECT. I will check out the Priests for Life website and see what products are available and donate. Many blessings and prayers for your family and your work!!!!!!!

Dr. King, The logo is impressive. I share your pro-life stand. I am still considering completing my post-graduate studies after a long sojourn and am wondering what your doctorate is in, how long the program was, and which college granted this honor.
    Thank you.

  9. I would like to send you the story of eight young people (6 white boys, one white and 1 black girl) who started out to collect school books for black schools in the Southern States in order to help Black Children learn to read and write. They got caught up in the “Freedom Summer” in Missippi and when they were forced to leave the church where they were working, moved on to a small town in Dalas County Alabama near another larger town called Selma. Once again they were caught up in the struggle. By the time of the march there were only two left alive and they were on crutches.
If you would like to hear the CD please tell me where to mail it and I will send you a copy.
