Dr. King,
I am a frequent visitor to Priests for Life and I have admired you for your stand against abortion as well as your dedication to encouraging forgiveness among the races as we realize that we are all God's children. Indeed, America has many sins...we can see every day what the destruction of our moral foundation is doing to our society and we all share some of the blame. We must search our own hearts and ask God to cleanse with forgiveness and grace for we are all saved only by the mighty grace of our Lord. The letter by Reverand Thomas strikes to the heart of our fears and concern for our nation. How can we expect God to bless our nation when we treat the unborn with such callous disregard? I believe the blood of these children is on all our hands if we do not stand up against this outrage. We must come together, whatever our race or religion and defend humanity to one another or our society will continue to spiral into the depths of destruction. As you have mentioned, America has many sins and we know that God hates sin period, whatever it is. I am neither Catholic or African-American but that is irrelevant because I agree with what you and Reverand Thomas are saying because we share our humanity and were created by God to do His work together. I know that racism still exists in some hearts but as a defender and supporter of LIFE, I am concerned with the rights of that child whether it is African-American, white, Asian etc....God knows that baby in the womb and NO ONE has the right to deprive God's creation of LIFE....God help us to realize that we must stand up for injustice wherever we see it or we are not worthy of God's forgiveness and grace. As Rev. Thomas mentioned, President Obama's administration is promoting many policies that are contrary to Biblical principles however, he does not have a Christian background so can we expect that he and his administration are going to base any of their policies from a moral perspective? I don't know the answers to this dilemma except that we continue to pray for divine intervention. Aside from the economic policies and foreign affairs issues that are looming over us, I believe the racial, abortion and homosexual issues will ultimately be our downfall if we do not come to forgiveness and seek God's face as a nation. As we know, the conservative movement in this country is under assault from so many directions, the main stream media, the entertainment industry, the organized homosexual and abortion groups, the indoctrination of our schools with these philosophies so we have tremendous obstacles to overcome. If we believe the Bible, we know where all this is leading but we must do what we can do as citizens to stand up for what is right. That will take working together so we are looking to you and our leaders we respect for guidance and leadership. I pray God will bless you as you seek to be an instrument of His peace. Thank you for all you do.
