Atlanta, GA – Dr. Alveda King, Director of African American Outreach for Priests for Life and Founder of King for America, today called on Congress to bear in mind unborn babies when trying to fix the economy.
“Any meaningful economic recovery act undertaken by Congress must strive for a pro-life economic recovery,” said Dr. King. “For too long, too many of our officials have acted as though man lives by bread alone, ignoring the moral dimension of their economic policies. That time is over.”
“Families, including our unborn children, must be given consideration. For starters, that means no more funding of abortion, directly or indirectly, with taxpayer money,” added Dr. King. “And for those lawmakers who care only about the economy, they must ask themselves before enacting legislation or appropriating funds, ‘Will this act encourage the birth or the termination of the next generation who will have to pay for all the debt we’ve incurred?’”
“The economic choice now is not guns or butter, but abortion or diapers. Do we invest in the ‘womb war’ or the life affirming position of families procreating?” concluded Dr. King.
