Well said, Cynthia. “….under cover of darkness”???? This does read like it was a covert operation when in truth it wasn’t.

This wasn’t a “rescue” mission. Sadly, Baby Joseph’s life cannot be saved. The esteemed doctors in London, Ontario know that. Rather than allow him to go peacefully his end-of-life is being used for politics. That is all this is. That and a waste of resources that are desperately needed elsewhere.

Priests for Life was heavily involved in this case, and did provide the transportation and funds for the transfer and treatment of Baby Joseph in St. Louis.

However, this press release is a bit misleading in calling it a “covert” mission. The hospital in London had been in negotiations with the family, and cooperated with the transfer. It wasn’t life Fr. Pavone snuck in and secretly took the baby – which would be quite impossible to do with a child on life support in a critical care unit.
