Getting people to really listen…

Lately, I’ve experienced a lesson in humility, again…   It had once again become my habit of condemning others for their viewpoints without really praying for them and hoping and praying that I have enough light in my life to attract others to truth. Also, I was becoming critical again, with vitrolic speech, a bitter tongue and all of that. If someone did something I didn’t agree with, I was becoming quick to say or think that “wow, they really need Jesus!” Well, don’t we all need more and more of Jesus, the Love of God and the Power of the Holy Spirit? It works two ways, when we see the fault of others in the words we read, and the deeds we observe, we must look inward as well. If our “enemies” need to fear the Lord, so do we… If they need to change their ways, we need to demonstrate enough of Jesus so that they would want to be more like Jesus…

These two scriptures were part of my meditation this morning. It made me think, again…. We win others with love even when firmness and truth are part of our message. Peace!

1 Samuel 12: 23 “Moreover, as for me, far be it from me that I should sin against the LORD by ceasing to pray for you; but I will instruct you in the good and right way. 24 “Only fear the LORD and serve Him in truth with all your heart ; for consider what great things He has done for you. 25 “But if you still do wickedly, both you and your king will be swept away.”

Proverbs 15: 4 A soothing tongue is a tree of life, But perversion in it crushes the spirit.
