She was killed in the early part of the last century b/c she would not submit to a rapist. She got him to kill her. Maria was only 12 when she died. This child is a role model for countless Catholic school girls.
Governor Quinn was supposed to give an award to a lady who survived what little Maria did not. This lady helps women who have survived the horrible crime of rape.
If I understand correctly, you’re not supposed to survive a rape. You’re supposed to try and get the rapist to kill you. This way you die for your purity.
