I have long been struck by how people want to compartmentalize Dr. King. They want to separate his social and racial justice activism from the follower and disciple of Jesus – essentially take those things that are most useful to their personal agenda and politics. The fact is, you can’t have and use those parts of Dr. King you find most useful at the expense of the rest. He was, first and foremost, a follower and disciple of Jesus Christ – a Christian.
