It is no exaggeration to say that we are on the verge of shutting down all but a few of the abortion mills in the entire state of Texas! Read on to see how you can help.
From them, and from the wonderful state pro-life groups, I received the latest information on what is about to happen.
First, some background. In special partnership with Operation Rescue and Life Dynamics, we at Priests for Life have been in the forefront of exposing
the horrific late-term abortion practices of abortionist Douglas Karpen of Houston, whom we dubbed the "Texas Gosnell" because of the similarities of his actions with those of Philadelphia abortionist Kermit Gosnell, now in prison for life.
Karpen is in Texas. And technically, so am I, because as a priest I am a member of the Diocese of Amarillo.
I have already sent you one of these action alerts calling for investigation into the activities of Karpen, whose former employees state that he twisted the heads off of babies with his bare hands.
The officials of the state of Texas, with whom I was this past week, have pledged to carry through that investigation!
But in the meantime, Texas legislators have the votes to pass a pro-life law to prohibit abortion of unborn children 20 weeks old or more, and also to regulate the abortion mills in Texas.
And as Governor Rick Perry stated this week, if these abortion clinics don't consider it important enough to spend the money and make the changes necessary to protect women, that's their call -- but either they will make them or they can close!
And thanks - among other things - to the revelations of what is going on in Karpen's mill, the Governor called a special session of the legislature
to pass the pro-life bills. Incredibly, the vote was taken, and there were enough votes,
But thanks to a pro-abortion Democrat filibuster, and then an unruly display of mob behavior by a bunch of pro-abortion protestors in the chamber (led by Planned Parenthood's President, Cecile Richards!!!), the vote fell just a few minutes late of the deadline, so the bill technically did not pass.
The good news is that Governor Perry is undeterred, and has called another special session that will begin TODAY and will last for 30 days. He said the other day that the pro-life measures will be at the top of the agenda
And that they will be passed.
If you know the pro-abortionists, however, you can imagine how enraged they will be this week. The Governor and the Texas legislators are going to need to see our support and that of every pro-life person across America. This is not just about Texas. It is about showing the strength of the entire pro-life movement, and sending the abortion industry in other states a clear message that we will tolerate this killing no longer! So please click here for the information on how you can help to encourage them. And then please forward this email to everyone you know who may be interested in this!
