Pelosi Admits Her Position is Not Catholic

Former House Speaker Attacks Priests for Life and Fr. Frank Pavone

Priests for Life

June 26, 2013

STATEN ISLAND, NY – Rather than answer the simple question as to what is the moral difference between killing a baby outside the womb or inside the womb,  House Minority Leader Nancy Pelosi has criticized Priests for Life, and its National Director, Fr. Frank Pavone, for raising the issue in an open letter, calling them arrogant, medieval, hysterical, and disconnected from the Church.

Fr. Pavone said: “I would like to know if Mrs. Pelosi, in her charges that we are arrogant, medieval, and hysterical, intends to include the more than 14,000 people (and counting) who signed onto my open letter to her in just the past few days. Rather than resorting to name-calling, she should answer the question all of us have raised. In refusing to answer this question, and instead choosing to criticize the messenger and then assert her own version of Catholicism, Mrs. Pelosi repeats the same display of avoidance and inconsistency as she exhibited at the June 13 press briefing that prompted my letter in the first place. Continuing to support dismemberment abortion, and refusing to explain its distinction from murder, she has disconnected herself from both faith and reason. Priests for Life will not allow this to go unchallenged.”

As for her assertion that she might pay attention to a more intellectual letter, Fr. Pavone responded: "The beginning of an intellectual approach to this discussion is to answer the simple question that started the discussion. Mrs. Pelosi refuses to take that first step."

Fr. Pavone's open letter, at LetterToNancy.com, continues to receive thousands of adherents each day from across the country.

In her interview with ThinkProgress earlier this week, Mrs. Pelosi said, “I grant the Church where they are on abortion. That’s where they are, that’s where they have to be. But my faith isn’t about what their position is.”

Fr. Pavone responded: “The beautiful thing about Catholic Faith is that it is not some kind of mysterious knowledge available only to elites or to the person holding it. Rather, it can be plainly understood by prince and pauper, young and old, educated and illiterate. We can all recognize when it is embraced and when it is rejected. Mrs. Pelosi has clearly rejected it, stating again that her faith is not what the Church teaches.

“We don’t need to consult the Catechism to know that terrorism is wrong – reason makes this plain,” added Fr. Pavone.  “And yet, those who flew airplanes into our buildings were, all the while, professing their faith. You also don’t need to know theology or be a priest to conclude that tearing a baby apart limb by limb is wrong – reason likewise makes this clear.  Yet, Nancy Pelosi has done it again – she’s trying to use faith talk to escape what both reason and Catholicism teach about abortion,  and to escape answering the simple question, 'What is the moral difference between killing a premature newborn and aborting a baby?'"

Yes, we all agree that Nancy Pelosi is completely wrong. Somewhere along the way, her Catholc wires got crossed. I wonder, though, whether someone close to her could have had an abortion for her to be so obstinate in defending her position. Maybe a product of 60s/70s mentality...

The Catholic Church's goal, as Christ's representative on earth, is to bring back the lost sheep, which each of us are at some time or other. Personally, I can't stand her...but when I break it down, it's her ideologies and opinions I can't stand. As Catholic laypeople, let's just pray for her. For her conversion---for her own sake---and those whom she has touched with her falseness. Fr. Pavone and Priests for Life are SO right!! Imagine the joy in heaven when she comes back into the fold!!

Mrs. Pelosi,
Do not try to turn this into a decision that. The church has made! This is a decision that God made, not human law. You are not a Catholic or any God fearing religion! Nice try.

When I see Nancy Pelosi on TV I turn the channel, her dead eyes (like shark eyes) creep me out, let alone all the nonsense, lies, and skewed rhetoric that spews from her mouth. Evil comes in many forms, Nancy Pelosi is just one of many. We can only pray for her soul as it is lost and for all those that follow and believe what she has to say or do. Pray that one day she repents and receive Gods grace and forgiveness.

Nancy Pelosi has money, power, and position. As with many people she has some hardness of heart because she, so far, has failed to knock loud enough or seek far enough to be granted the grace necessary to see the evil in abortion.
We need to pray that her heart be held in God's hands and not the world's. A change of heart so she can see clearly.
Add her as an intention to your Rosary, bring up her name before the Blessed Sacrament, FAST and pray for her to be delivered. If enough of this is done, she will change. AT the moment her importance blinds her.

Nancy Pelosi is a long-time politician who has let money, position, power and fame run over her Catholic Faith. She fits Pope Benedict's profile of a "Relative Moralist"; in other words, whatever a person 'feels' is moral, becomes 'moral' for them. Nancy is so liberal that she represents the antithesis of the Catholic Bishop's definition and position on abortion: it is murder! The issue is not what choices a woman may make about her body, but that abortion is a moral choice causing the MURDER of an innocent, human being. Unfortunately, current law supports such an aberration of God's Moral Law. May God help turn Nancy's warped and twisted soul around, and forgive her for spreading such horrible, unchristian lies!

We can only pray that god expounds his infinite mercy on her now and at the time of her judgement.

This is the email I'm sending our children:

Kids,

This debate between the Culture of Life and the Culture of Death speaks for itself. . . I urge you to read it thoughtfully, pray, and act as your well-formed consciences lead you. . . It is not enough to act "following your conscience" alone. Your consciences must be fed and nourished with the living Word of God and sound moral and ethical doctrines. The ideology used to justify the Culture of Death is not one of them.

For years I've told you and our family & friends that each of you, your spouses and your families are the only earthly treasures Mom and I will ever need. The lapel pin I wear daily is the size of an unborn child's feet at 10 weeks after conception, the size of your feet when Mom was carrying you. They are also the size of Jesus' feet when Mary was carrying him.

Mary was an unwed mother when she said "yes" to the Holy Spirit conceiving Jesus in her. She was a virgin and not married. The penalty under Jewish Law at the time was being stoned to death. Joseph, instead, married her when he learned that she was carrying the Son of God. The Holy Family is our role model of what an ideal family should be.

You, your spouses--and your children & descendants--are our nation and world's hope for the future. While your children may not be the original Son of God, we are all adopted sons and daughters of God--brothers and sisters of Jesus Christ. Jesus himself once said that each of us would one day be capable of greater works than he performed. Each human being--each boy and girl--conceived is a gift of God.

May God richly bless each of you for many. many years to come,

I love you more than you'll ever know,

Dad

I agree that Ms. Pelosi must be excommunicated. There should be no further hesitation. I am exhausted with these so-called "Catholics" professing their adherance to the Catholic faith and practicing there own personal version of it.

Why is'nt she excommunicated immediately? The Vatican needs to do this!

I am waiting for some clear direction from Cardinal Dolan and the USCCB on what Catholics are to do in response to all these abhorrent ant-life court decisions and Draconian anti-marriage, anti-life, anti-family, anti-morality U.S Government regulations. The silence is deafening.
