Staten Island, NY - Fr. Frank Pavone, National Director of Priests for Life, responded today to President Obama’s statement to Congressman Bart Stupak (D-MI) that when he said in his September speech to Congress that “our plan” would not use federal dollars to fund abortion, he was not referring to any of the bills pending in Congress.
“Every time the President has spoken of not wanting to fund abortion in ‘his’ health care plan, no one has really known what measure he was talking about,” said Fr. Pavone. “Now we know from his conversation with Congressman Stupak that the President’s ‘plan’ has never seen the light of day. Or maybe, to paraphrase former President Bill Clinton, it depends on what the word ‘plan’ means.”

The plan will not require you to fund abortions; the abortions will be funding YOU. Abortions save more than they cost. By supplying them, government will be able to tax LESS.
How much EXTRA are you willing to pay the tax man, to cover the cost of NOT having government provide abortions to indigent women?

Abortions were always a fact of life, even before Roe vs. Wade was passed. Let’s not go back to butchering our young women. Maybe we should make MEN responsible for their actions. No one is FOR ABORTION, but let’s not just push emotional political buttons. I used to think the Catholic Church was the rational real voice of God. Why is it so expensive to send email? What % of contributions actually go to the cause? How much to administrative fees?
Clinton was the most intelligent President in years, why are you putting him down? Please quit preying on ignorance and emotion. There are reasonable ways to make your point. Don’t you think the Church should stay out of partisan remarks? What happened to the US Bishops’ “seamless garment” of life from conception to death? Capital punishment used to be wrong. Didn’t Jesus die as a result of political judgement? Wasn’t crusifiction capital punishment? I believe it was wrong.
OperationCounterstrike,”Abortions save more than they cost”….what a ridiculous statement…save WHAT? We should approve the murder of the innocent so we will be taxed less? This may come as a shock to you but not everyone looks at the true ‘cost’ of something being measured in dollars. We pay enough taxes and we have a right to say that we do not want them used to provide abortions. Any tax money that I could save by supporting abortion would be of NO value to me.
I do not want my tax dollars funding abortions in the United States or for that matter anywhere in the world. The truth is that the intentional killing of an innocent living human being by abortion is a crime against humanity. - I see where OperationCounterstrike trys to make a feeble attempt to discredit what Father Pavone says on his blog. Hopefully Father’s words, with the help of the Holy Spirit will reach their hearts and change them. Nothing is impossible with God. - A Health Care bill that does not protect human life is extremely dangerous and needs to be voted down immediately. My country is founded on “… We hold these truths to be self-evident, that all men are created equal, that they are endowed by their Creator with certain unalienable Rights, that among these are Life, Liberty and the pursuit of Happiness…” The Health Care bill in its current form is not built on those principles and I, a citizen of United States of America, VOTE NO!

Praying for Reality: Do you worship God or Bill Clinton? Intelligent? Well, I guess that’s possible - sure didn’t see too much of that though, except for ensuring he wouldn’t conceive a child.
Fr. Pavone’s remark was in no way partisan; it alluded to one person’s manifest subjective morality (and reality). Hey! Get that stick out of your eye!

I need some advice. My daughter recently participated in the day of silence for the unborn. Her govt. teacher who is unabashedly liberal told her he would dock her class grade if she remained silent. He gave her a 0 for class participation for the 9 week period. Is there something I can say to have this unfair action reversed? She has participated regularly in class on all other days.
Dear Joyce, you should do what right-to-lifers do: shoot the teacher through the eye in his church.

The vast majority of pro-lifers, including Fr. Pavone and Priests for Life, denounce violence and condemn the murder of Dr. Tiller. It is ironic that you are using a site devoted to ending abortion through PEACEFUL means, including prayer and offering help to mothers, to insist that pro-lifers are violent. The pro-lifers who inspire me donate money and resources to crisis pregnancy centers, offer compassion and hope to women considering abortion by showing them that they are loved and by assuring them that they can get the help they need if they choose life, and even provide prayer and support to women who have had abortions. (True, not all women who have had abortions will appreciate this, but some actively seek such support and comfort). By the way, I am a liberal consistent life ethic-er. I oppose war, racism, sexism, homophobia, and abortion as anti-life forces.
Joyce, you should tell your daughter to ask her teacher if he is liberal enough to appreciate her liberty and her right to free speech, and her right to peacefully advocate the causes she believes in. If he doesn’t understand his own hypocrisy after that and continues to reprimand her unfairly, speak to the principal.
operation counterstrike- Sometimes the truth stings. Accept it or continue to be blinded by pride. I think its ironic that the same liberals who will cry to save the whales, seals,earth…..but will deny the horror of 50 million innocent humans being snuffed out each year in the world. Equally puzzling are the liberals who demand freedom of choice but embrace our current government who seem bent on destruction of our freedoms and our country.
