“We are all his children.” (Acts 17:28)

Reflection: Abortion has killed children who may have been great scientists, doctors, inventors, and Presidents. Yet every life taken by abortion is equally valuable. People do no derive their value from how productive or famous they are or may become. The most hidden, obscure, and humble life has as much intrinsic value, and as many human rights, as the most notable personalities in history.

Prayer: Lord, I cannot begin to imagine the plans you had for each aborted child. May we realize more deeply the value of each one of them, even the most humble and forgotten. Amen.

st-paul

This reflection is taken from my book Pro-Life Reflections for Every Day, which is available for purchase at: ProLifeReflectionsForEveryDay.org

“I do not understand my own actions. For I do not do what I want; rather, I do what I hate.” (Romans 7:15)

Reflection: Abortion advocates say we should “trust” women to make their own decisions. Are we then to simply trust that people won’t lie, cheat, run red lights, or rob a local department store? The whole argument is absurd. At times, people do not respect the rights of others. That’s why laws exist.

Prayer: Lord, with St. Paul, I acknowledge that I am inclined to sin, despite my best intentions. Help me, and help all of us as we struggle against the pull of evil. Amen.

Fr. Pavone: Only acceptable change to HHS mandate is to rescind it

Friday, February 1st, 2013

hhsSTATEN ISLAND, NY — Fr. Frank Pavone, National Director of Priests for Life, responded to the announcement on contraception coverage from HHS with the following statement:

“The HHS is giving the public an opportunity to provide its feedback to the proposed rules. I first of all want to urge the public to take advantage of this opportunity.

“Moreover, we at Priests for Life remind the Administration that religious liberty does not just belong to religious groups and individuals; it belongs to all Americans. Objections to contraceptives and abortion-inducing drugs aren’t based just on dogmas and Bibles, but on adverse health consequences and the fact that human beings, no matter how small, should not be killed.

“We see only one acceptable change regarding the mandate: rescind it completely.”

Priests for Life was one of the first organizations to launch a federal lawsuit against the HHS mandate last year.

Priests for Life is the nation’s largest Catholic pro-life organization dedicated to ending abortion and euthanasia. For more information, visit www.priestsforlife.org.

The Last Clinic

This reflection is taken from my book Pro-Life Reflections for Every Day, which is available for purchase at: ProLifeReflectionsForEveryDay.org

“Where the Spirit of the Lord is, there is freedom. ” (2 Cor. 3:17)

Reflection: A teenager in Oregon went to a legal clinic for an abortion. When she tried to leave a waiting room in order to get more information about the procedure, she found that the door to the room was locked from the outside! She never got her questions answered, nor was she told about the risks of abortion. She sued the clinic and won.

Prayer: Lord, the spirit of abortion is a spirit of slavery. Let your freedom shine forth, bringing truth, strength to do what is right, and the triumph of life. Amen!
