HS

These reflections are taken from the book “Pro-Life Reflections for Every Day” by Fr. Frank Pavone which is available for purchase at: ProLifeReflectionsForEveryDay.org

“Such is the complete confidence in God that we have through Christ…Our competence comes from God who has empowered us…” (2 Corinthians 3:4-6).

Reflection: The same Holy Spirit who created the universe, descended upon the womb of Mary, came as tongues of fire at Pentecost, and leads the Church on her mission, is the one who calls and equips us for our pro-life work. Let us not lack for a moment the confidence and joy which come from Him, and which impel us to build a Culture of Life.

Prayer: Come, Holy Spirit, and equip us, just as you equipped disciples of every century, to advance the Gospel of Life. Amen!

Priests for Life Director Praises Judge William Clark

Monday, August 12th, 2013

Shandon, Ca – Fr. Frank Pavone, National Director of Priests for Life, issued the following statement today.

“Our Priests for Life team learned with sadness yesterday of the passing of Judge William P. Clark, Jr. This was a man who served our nation constantly, whether in the key positions he held in President Ronald Reagan’s cabinet, or in the countless ways in which, behind the scenes, he defended the very principles on which the nation was founded.

“He was a great friend of Priests for Life and especially of our administrative team. We got to know him in the late 1990’s and he invited us frequently to his ranch. He opened his property in Shandon, and the beautiful chapel he built on it (“Chapel Hill”), to the pro-life movement, and several times a year we hosted private retreats there for national pro-life leaders. These retreats built up the unity of the movement and enabled leaders to come together in confidential settings to build up relationships of trust, which led to fruitful collaboration. We look forward to the continuation of these retreats.

“Judge Clark served as national security adviser. But along with his role in that position under President Reagan, he fought for our nation’s security by fighting for the right to life, on which all other rights and security depend. He understood the priority of this issue, and lent his advice, encouragement, and personal involvement to the initiatives that we in the pro-life leadership would undertake.

“He and his wife Joan made a public profession of promises as a Missionaries of the Gospel of Life, which is the pro-life spirituality program of Priests for Life.

“It will be my honor, along with our Executive Director, Janet Morana, and our Vice-Chairman, Anthony DeStefano, to represent so many of our colleagues in the pro-life movement as we participate in the funeral on Wednesday of our great friend and national hero, Judge William Clark.”

pray

These reflections are taken from the book “Pro-Life Reflections for Every Day” by Fr. Frank Pavone which is available for purchase at: ProLifeReflectionsForEveryDay.org

“Apart from me you can do nothing” (John 15:5).

Reflection: Prayer is not just asking God to do something. Prayer is union with God. Prayer means we open ourselves so wide to God that He comes in and does something through us! Prayer and action are not two separate options, but rather two aspects of union with God.. When we come away from prayer we should not feel rested but restless. We should not feel that we’ve done our duty, but that we’ve been given our duty.

Prayer: Lord, you are a consuming fire, the source of all activity. Keep me rooted in prayer and strong in action. Amen.

broken

These reflections are taken from the book “Pro-Life Reflections for Every Day” by Fr. Frank Pavone which is available for purchase at: ProLifeReflectionsForEveryDay.org

“You will know the truth, and the truth will set you free” (John 8:32).

Reflection: A woman who saw the photos of aborted babies on the Priests for Life website wrote to us,  “I have a dear friend who is very ‘pro-choice’ and I said: ‘Have you ever seen what an abortion looks like?’ The answer was: ‘No.’ I showed her the pictures. She was rightfully and truly horrified about what this REALLY looks like. And, she started to cry. She isn’t ‘pro-choice’ anymore.”

Prayer: You are truth, Lord Jesus, and in you we find the truth about everything. Assist us to expose the truth about abortion. Amen.

moses

These reflections are taken from the book “Pro-Life Reflections for Every Day” by Fr. Frank Pavone which is available for purchase at: ProLifeReflectionsForEveryDay.org

“Suddenly, there were two men talking with him, Moses and Elijah” (Luke 9:30).

Reflection: Jesus was transfigured; the glory of his divinity shone through his humanity, which reminds us that humanity always expresses the image of God. Here, Moses and Elijah converse with Jesus about his upcoming death, which will itself conquer death. The Transfiguration was meant to remind the apostles that death would not have the last word.

Prayer: Jesus, may your Transfiguration strengthen all of us in the face of the power of death to realize that you have brought about a new kingdom of life. Amen.

Fr. Pavone Appeals to Alabama Clinic Owner

Monday, August 5th, 2013

STATEN ISLAND, NY — A judge in Jefferson County Circuit Court will consider today the case brought against the abortion facility in Birmingham once known as New Woman All Women, for operating outside the bounds of the law.

“Neither this facility nor any other one in the nation that performs abortions should consider itself above the law,” said Fr. Frank Pavone, National Director of Priests for Life. “Abortion supporters can’t have it both ways. If you want a procedure to be legal, then carrying it out has to be done according to the law. I know Diane Derzis, who runs this facility, and have met with her, and I appeal to her not only to abide by the law, but to get out of the abortion industry altogether.”

Priests for Life is the nation’s largest Catholic pro-life organization dedicated to ending abortion and euthanasia. For more information, visit www.priestsforlife.org.

crucify

These reflections are taken from the book “Pro-Life Reflections for Every Day” by Fr. Frank Pavone which is available for purchase at: ProLifeReflectionsForEveryDay.org

“I put to death and I bring to life” (Deuteronomy 32:39).

Reflection: No religion, and no pro-life group, advocates that we are obliged to take every single treatment and procedure available to keep us alive. Foregoing a worthless treatment is not, and should not be called, euthanasia or suicide. Yet while there are such things as worthless treatments, there is no such thing as a worthless life. We can and should allow the dying to die; we must never intend the death of the living. We may reject a treatment; we must never reject a life.

Prayer: Give your peace, O Lord, to all who are dying today. Amen.

Cain-and-Abel

These reflections are taken from the book “Pro-Life Reflections for Every Day” by Fr. Frank Pavone which is available for purchase at: ProLifeReflectionsForEveryDay.org

“Then will the words that are written be fulfilled: ‘Death has been swallowed up in victory’” (1 Corinthians 15:54).

Reflection: At the scene of the first murder of Abel by Cain, the soil “opened its mouth” to swallow Abel’s blood (see Genesis 4:10-11). At the scene of the final victory of life, it is death itself that will be “swallowed up in victory.” God is in the business of destroying death, and that is why his people work on behalf of life.

Prayer: Lord, continue to give us consolation, amidst a Culture of Death, that this evil will not last forever, but will be swallowed up in victory. Amen.

priesthood

These reflections are taken from the book “Pro-Life Reflections for Every Day” by Fr. Frank Pavone which is available for purchase at: ProLifeReflectionsForEveryDay.org

“Jesus holds a perpetual priesthood…he has the full power to save those who approach God through him, since he lives forever to intercede for them” (Hebrews 7:24-25).

Reflection: In the heights of heaven, where he sits at the right hand of the Father, what does Jesus do? Scripture tells us that, sharing our human nature, he constantly intercedes for us. He presents to the Father the dignity of our humanity, that it may be filled with the life of God.

Prayer: Lord, give us confidence that we can always approach you, from the darkness of this valley of death, as you intercede, in your humanity, for ours. Amen.
