A Challenge to Candidates and Voters on Abortion

Fr. Frank Pavone, National Director of Priests for Life, released a statement today challenging candidates and voters of both parties to face the reality of abortion. “Those who support it, and speak in favor of its legality, should be willing to admit what it is. Yet in vain will you struggle to hear them say a single word describing the procedure,” Fr. Frank declared.

The Democratic National Convention was marked by speeches by prominent abortion supporters this week.

Fr. Frank announced a special project to help citizens challenge candidates to describe what they mean by the word “abortion.” The project can be found at www.priestsforlife.org/IsThisWhatYouMean.

  22. Reflection: Today we celebrate the Birthday of the Blessed Virgin Mary, chosen by God to be his own mother. In our day, we need Mary’s presence and example more than ever, because so many mothers are afraid to be mothers, and so many opinion-makers in our society have forgotten what motherhood really means.

In the various debates which have been held so far between Presidential candidates, the issue of abortion has come up. It has been discussed in terms of legislation that the candidate has signed or would sign, nominees which would be selected for the courts, the role of the states in relation to the Federal government, and whether there are any exceptions under which babies should be protected.
