Today’s Pro-life Reflection: God is with us

HoldingHandsbaby

“And they shall name him Emmanuel, a name that means ‘God is with us'” Matthew 1:23.

Reflection: In the midst of the abortion tragedy, the Church does not point fingers of condemnation. Rather, the Church extends hands of compassion and help, to lift up out of despair those who are tempted to abort their children. The Church informs her people of the many alternatives to abortion, and says “I am with you, and will enable you to say yes to life.”

Prayer: Lord, so many are tempted to abort because they feel alone. May we reach out to them, that they may know that we and you are with them. Amen

Supreme Court Order in Priests for Life vs. HHS (Part of Zubik vs. Burwell).. Further Comments from Priests for Life

Janet HHS sister

“We are encouraged by today’s development. The Supreme Court could have ruled against us, but evidently the Obama Administration did not succeed in persuading them to do so. A split Court could also have let the lower court’s negative ruling stand, but again, they did not see fit to do that. Instead, the Supreme Court, upon receiving further briefings, vacated the lower court rulings, and offered the parties an opportunity to work out a mutually acceptable solution in the lower courts, that will both allow the government to pursue its objectives and allow us to practice our faith. We are committed to continuing that process in the U.S. Court of Appeals for the DC Circuit.”

Today’s Pro-life Reflection: God and man

ffquotes23

“There is one mediator between God and man, Christ Jesus, himself a man” (1 Timothy 2:5).

Reflection: Jesus is humanity’s only mediator with God precisely because he is both God and human, and his humanity comes from Mary. All her importance flows from her Son, and our worship of the Son naturally leads to honoring his mother. Marian devotion teaches us something about our pro-life commitment. Mother and child belong together. To hurt one is to hurt the other; to love one is to love the other.

Prayer: Mary, thank you for being the mother of Jesus, who now shares our humanity. Teach us to honor every mother and child. Amen.

Fr. Pavone: Ample evidence to probe sale of baby parts

15234702355_62d24fdc03_b
“Former prosecutors testified before a Congressional committee today that there is ample evidence to warrant further investigation into the abortion industry’s longtime practice of harvesting and selling aborted babies’ body parts.  I would add that there’s a moral imperative that our nation put a halt to this horrendous practice that exploits women and treats non-consenting humans like lab rats.”

Healing the Shockwaves of Abortion

15-01-papal-rep

Abortion is like an earthquake whose violent shockwaves unsettle the earth for hundreds of miles around. The loss of one child to abortion impacts everyone involved; the mother and father, the grandparents, the siblings, family and friends, even the abortion clinic workers and abortionists, and even pro-life advocates who can’t save every child.

To acknowledge and begin to repair the damage that abortion has sent rippling through our society, the Silent No More Awareness Campaign this year launched a new initiative at the March for Life in Washington, D.C. and the Walk for Life in San Francisco. Called Healing the Shockwaves of Abortion, the new initiative seeks to give a voice to all those who regret the abortion they took part in, and all those who mourn the loss of each innocent child.

During the Silent No More gathering at the March for Life and Walk for Life, Father Frank Pavone said, “This year, along with having women who say ‘I Regret My Abortion,’ along with having men who say ‘I Regret Lost Fatherhood,’ we have people holding signs saying ‘I Mourn My Aborted Sibling.’ We have people holding signs saying ‘I Regret Losing My Grandchild to Abortion.’ And we have people holding signs saying ‘I Regret Performing Abortions and Providing Abortions.’ This expansion of the witness today is part of the initiative called Healing the Shockwaves of Abortion. The theme is very simple: Abortion hurts everybody.”

Equal rights of all human beings

prolife3So did you see the letter that Susan Rice, U.S. Permanent Representative to the United Nations, wrote to President Obama yesterday asking him not to nominate her for Secretary of State? In the first paragraph, she praises the “vision and leadership” of the President, and the Administration’s “successes,” including, in her words, “our bold defense of the equal rights of all human beings regardless of their race, religion, economic status or whom they love.”

This made me wonder if Susan Rice has her countries confused.

The Obama Administration, whether at the U.N. or anywhere else, does not defend the “equal rights of all human beings.” First of all, the reference to equal rights “regardless of…religion” is laughable in the light of the Administration’s ongoing attack on religious freedom. “Regardless of…religion” should mean even religions that would prohibit employers to offer coverage of abortion-inducing drugs in the health insurance plans they offer to employees. Yet instead, the Administration is attempting to force such people to violate their religion – including us at Priests for Life, which is why we launched one of the first lawsuits against the HHS and its unjust mandate.

But even more fundamental than the right to religious freedom is the right to life.

And the Obama Administration fails miserably here as well. The defense of legal abortion is, by definition, a defense of the proposition that Roe vs. Wade made that “the word ‘person’…does not include the unborn.” The first of the “equal rights of all human beings” is the right to life. Every other right depends on it. Equality is not equality if some human beings – those living in the womb – are not recognized and protected as equal.

Susan Rice has been criticized for a lot of things. Unfortunately, she just added to the list. She is apparently unable to tell the difference between a “bold defense of the equal rights of all human beings” and a bold denial of them.

Priests for Life, Father Pavone praised in Congress

STATEN ISLAND, NY – Priests for Life, its National Director and the many ministries under its pro-life umbrella were saluted in the United States House of Representatives on Aug. 1.  Six members of Congress spent 35 minutes speaking from the floor of Congress about the work of Priests for Life. As it normally does, C-Span broadcast the proceedings live.

Minnesota Congresswomen Michele Bachmann led the accolades, noting that Priests for Life is concluding the celebration of its 20th anniversary.

New Jersey Congressman Chris Smith, leader of the congressional pro-life caucus, said that for two decades he has been “moved, inspired and motivated to defend the weakest and most vulnerable among us by the remarkable life and pro-life witness of Father Frank Pavone,” whom, Mr. Smith noted, not only works to save unborn babies, but reaches out to women suffering after an abortion and even to abortionists themselves.

“This good priest sees not just the abortionist and their enablers committing violence against women and babies, but what might be if we genuinely care about their souls.”

Mr. Smith also noted the work of Janet Morana, Priests for Life’s executive director, and the Silent No More Awareness Campaign, which she co-founded to give women and men who have lost children to abortion a platform to tell the truth about their pain and healing.

Also speaking on the House floor during the session were Rep. Jeff Fortenberry of Nebraska; Rep. Jean Schmidt of Ohio; Rep. Louie Gohmert of Texas, and Rep. Tim Walberg of Michigan. Several others had indicated a desire to speak but there was not enough time in the 35 minutes allotted.

Mrs. Bachmann concluded the session with an explanation of the ministry:

“Priests for Life isn’t just for priests and it isn’t just for Catholics. The work of Priests for Life has enabled Americans of every walk of life, every ethnicity, every faith background, every political affiliation to awaken their consciences about the life issue, to speak up for the unborn… It’s very difficult to find any national initiative to the pro-life movement that either Father Frank Pavone or Priests for Life are somehow not deeply involved in.”

Mrs. Bachmann, noting her own commitment to pro-life work, said she is “extremely proud” to be affiliated with Priests for Life and Father Pavone.

‘I wish to thank Priests for Life for everything they continue to do protect and defend the sanctity of every human life.”

National Day of Appreciation for Abortion Providers

Tomorrow, March 10, pro-abortion activists observe the annual National Day of Appreciation for Abortion Providers. They want to make into heroes the people who get paid for killing babies.

Former abortionist Dr. Tony Levatino provided this comment on today’s observance: “Eight years of performing abortions affirming a woman’s “right to choose”. Over 1200 innocent children in five years of private practice shredded in suction machines and dismembered in late-term abortions. Hundreds of dead little faces staring back at me. Dozens of women who chose abortion assuming that they would be able to become pregnant at some later date who found out differently as the years rolled by. A National Day of Appreciation for what I did? No thank you.”

Let’s pray tomorrow for all abortionists, that they may experience repentance, conversion, and new life.

Priests for Life Announces Four-Pronged Attack on Abortion Industry in 2012

Amarillo, TX — Fr. Pavone revealed plans today to target the abortion industry in 2012 that he is confident will close many abortion mills and place many abortionists in jail.

“The approach,” Fr. Pavone explained, “is simple: a) uncover the ways abortionists break the law and get them punished for it; b) reveal the nature of the abortion procedure itself; c) show the harm abortion does to the very people the abortion industry claims to serve, and d) pray more intensely than ever for abortion to end.”

“Building on the work done by many other groups with whom we collaborate, we will begin this month to accelerate the investigation of abortion clinics, which break laws left and right. We will bring special attention to the ten abortionists in Texas who have to answer to the Texas Medical Board for numerous violations, and will see to it that they are held accountable,” Fr. Pavone explained.

“As I have said since I began my work with Priests for Life in 1993, our job is to exploit the weaknesses of the abortion industry, which is collapsing under its own weight. The evil it does cannot withstand the light of human conscience.”

In the coming weeks, Priests for Life will provide information to churches across America, to pro-life groups, media outlets, and to the general public regarding the details of this four-pronged strategy. “We will also communicate to prison chaplains a simple message: get ready to see a lot more abortionists in the jail cells.”

“The time is now” to stop abortionists like Brigham, Riley

Responding to the news that abortionists Steven Brigham and Nicola Riley are being held in custody for the murders of viable babies, Father Pavone stated:

“These two individuals are now where they belong and should be in jail for the rest of their lives. This case, as it progresses, is key for the American people to pay attention to, because it exposes the abortion industry for what it is. Abortionists have no respect for human life, much less for human laws. Even those who believe abortion should be legal can join with us to stop the out of control practices of people like Brigham and Riley, and the time is now.”
