Today’s Pro-life Reflection: God is with us

“And they shall name him Emmanuel, a name that means ‘God is with us'” Matthew 1:23.

Reflection: In the midst of the abortion tragedy, the Church does not point fingers of condemnation. Rather, the Church extends hands of compassion and help, to lift up out of despair those who are tempted to abort their children. The Church informs her people of the many alternatives to abortion, and says “I am with you, and will enable you to say yes to life.”

Prayer: Lord, so many are tempted to abort because they feel alone. May we reach out to them, that they may know that we and you are with them. Amen

Fr. Pavone: Ample evidence to probe sale of baby parts

“Former prosecutors testified before a Congressional committee today that there is ample evidence to warrant further investigation into the abortion industry’s longtime practice of harvesting and selling aborted babies’ body parts.  I would add that there’s a moral imperative that our nation put a halt to this horrendous practice that exploits women and treats non-consenting humans like lab rats.”

“The time is now” to stop abortionists like Brigham, Riley

Responding to the news that abortionists Steven Brigham and Nicola Riley are being held in custody for the murders of viable babies, Father Pavone stated:

“These two individuals are now where they belong and should be in jail for the rest of their lives. This case, as it progresses, is key for the American people to pay attention to, because it exposes the abortion industry for what it is. Abortionists have no respect for human life, much less for human laws. Even those who believe abortion should be legal can join with us to stop the out of control practices of people like Brigham and Riley, and the time is now.”

Abortion: the ultimate form of child abuse

Often those who defend abortion, knowing that they do not have any valid arguments, resort to blanket criticism of priests for abusing children. What these abortion supporters don’t seem to realize is that by supporting the killing of children, they weaken their argument against the abuse of children. After all, it’s the same victim. The Church, and so many people of good will, oppose both the abuse and killing of children – and of anyone else as well. The argument of pro-life people is one of consistency and inclusion. The tragedy of Roe v Wade is summarized in its line that “the word person does not include the unborn.” Let’s oppose the killing of every and any innocent human life, and call on our opponents to  stop being selective in their opposition to evil.

Become Educated about Forced Abortion

A man in Ohio has been sent to jail for thirteen years because he tried to force his girlfriend, at gunpoint, to continue with a scheduled abortion after she changed her mind. The charges against him are not only because of the gun and the abduction, but significantly, for the attempted murder of the child.

Under Ohio’s 1996 fetal homicide law, a person can be found guilty of murder for killing an unborn child.

In this case the child’s father led the mother at gunpoint to the abortion clinic, but once there, she passed a note to the clinic personnel about the fact that she was being forced, and they called the police.

She has since given birth to a healthy child.

Idolatry in all forms goes against the teachings of God

The First Commandment is “I am the Lord your God; you shall not have other gods besides me.” There are many ways of having false gods. Pope John Paul II once wrote that to think we are the ones who decide whether a child should be created is to say that God is not God. At the root of the contraceptive mentality, and at the root of the so-called “pro-choice” mentality, is idolatry. We place our choices before God’s choices. We break the first of all the commandments. In the Old Testament, we read that God’s people committed idolatry when they sacrificed their sons and daughters in the fire to demons. Until we end the child sacrifice of legal abortion, we are guilty of the same kind of idolatry. Let us worship the Lord of Life!

Tomorrow is the Feast of St. Joseph

On March 19th, the Church celebrates the Feast of Her patron, St. Joseph. Though not the biological father of Jesus, Who was born of a virgin, Joseph was His protector and the faithful husband of Mary. Joseph is a model for all fathers today. Essential to fatherhood is the protection of one’s children. One of the main reasons for abortion is that the mother does not experience the supportive, faithful encouragement of the baby’s father. Often, the only “choice” in the matter is the abortion that the father forces on the mother. At other times, fathers tried to stop the abortion, but the law excludes them from the final decision about the abortion.

Men do suffer grief after the abortion of their child. Healing programs are available for these fathers. Contact for more information.

Silent No More About Planned Parenthood

ROME – While having various meetings at the Vatican regarding the pro-life movement, Father Frank Pavone, National Director of Priests for Life, announced that the women and men of the Silent No More Awareness Campaign (a joint project of Priests for Life and Anglicans for Life) are raising their voices about their experiences at Planned Parenthood as the U.S. Senate prepares for its vote on whether to defund the world’s largest abortion business.

At, members of the Campaign are sharing their painful experiences, providing more firsthand evidence that Planned Parenthood does not serve the needs of women and has no respect for the law.

For instance, Sherry Coleman Wright states:

“I was 17 years old – the lady at the Planned Parenthood clinic in Council Bluffs, Iowa told me I could go to Women’s Services clinic in Omaha, Nebraska, to get the procedure. My boyfriend at the time was 23 or 24 and I was told not to mention that or he would get into trouble. I don’t feel like they really had my best interest in mind. From what I understand, they still give young girls the same advice. I was devastated by that abortion and my life spiraled downward.”

Christy Annison tells us:

“I had a botched abortion in Atlanta’s Planned Parenthood abortion clinic. The doctor left the dead fetus inside and I needed immediate medical attention. For the health of women, please defund Planned Parenthood.”

The Campaign is providing these and numerous other testimonies to the U.S. Senate in the days ahead, and is urging citizens, as they communicate with their Senators, to share with them the voices of experience found at

Founded in 2003 by Janet Morana, executive director of Priests for Life, and Georgette Forney, president of Anglicans for Life, the Silent No More Awareness Campaign has become an integral part of the March for Life, which every January marks the anniversary of the 1973 Roe vs. Wade decision. Women and men who have been harmed by their abortion experiences also share their testimony at events across the country and throughout the year.

Beginning March 1, members of the Campaign will take to the streets in front of the Senate offices in Washington, holding their signs saying, “I Regret My Abortion.”

Priests for Life leader to Senate: No More Money for the Most Corrupt Organization in America!

STATEN ISLAND, NY – Father Frank Pavone, national director of Priests for Life, issued the following statement following the Feb. 18 House vote to defund Planned Parenthood:

“It usually takes the law a while to catch up with reality. Since 1991, the pro-life movement has been sounding the alarm that the entire abortion industry, including but not limited to Planned Parenthood, is full of lies, corruption, and abuse. It is nothing short of a criminal conspiracy. Yet even if that were not true, no government funds should be used for the killing of children.

“Now that the House of Representatives has voted to defund Planned Parenthood, it is the Senate’s turn to do the same. It is time for the people to make history and defy the notion that they cannot get the Senate to defund Planned Parenthood. It is time for our citizens to speak with an unprecedented, unified, and loud voice: No more money to the most corrupt organization in America!”

Arrest of Philly Abortionist and Eight Co-Workers is Indictment of Abortion Industry

Staten Island, NY – Father Frank Pavone, national director of Priests for Life, issued the following statement upon the arrest of Philadelphia abortionist Kermit Gosnell, his wife, and eight co-workers on eight counts of murder. The arrests followed a lengthy investigation revealing what a grand jury found to be a “criminal enterprise” that involved “routinely and deliberately” killing babies born alive.

“Having dealt for 30 years with the abortion industry and abortionists, both practicing and converted, I am not in the least surprised by this development, and neither should the American people be surprised. This is happening every day across America,” Father Pavone said.

“If you read the medical textbook Abortion Practice and the sworn court testimony in which abortionists describe the procedure, you will read about how babies are dismembered limb from limb every day legally in America.

“There is a silver lining to the cloud of Dr. Kermit Gosnell, namely, that we will finally wake up to what is happening. It is the norm and not the exception.”
