Today’s Pro-Life Reflection: She saw in each person the image of God

This reflection is taken from my book, Pro-Life Reflections for Every Day, which is available for purchase at:

“If we allow a mother to kill her own child, how can we tell people not to kill each other?” – Mother Teresa of Calcutta

Reflection: Mother Teresa died on this day in 1997. She saw in each person – no matter how sick or depraved – the image of God. She spoke boldly to those in power about the evil of abortion. In her Nobel Peace Prize lecture, she said that the greatest destroyer of peace is abortion. She led women by the arm away from abortion clinics and toward alternatives. Let us honor her by imitating her.

Prayer: Mother Teresa, pray for us, that we may defend life as you did. Amen

The Anniversary of Mother Teresa’s Death

Mother Teresa of Calcutta was called from this world on September 5, 1997.

In my many conversations with her about the pro-life movement, it was very clear that she expected us not simply to pray but to intervene. She told me about how she went to the places where abortions were performed and took the women by the arm, away from that place of death and to her communities where they would find hope and life for themselves and their children.

Help us to honor Mother Teresa by joining the special novena we have posted at You will find a prayer to say, and will be able to share with us how Mother Teresa has influenced your own life – that’s at

Above all, honor her by imitating her.
