Today’s Pro-Life Reflection

Monday, September 10th, 2012

This reflection is taken from my book Pro-Life Reflections for Every Day, which is available for purchase at: ProLifeReflectionsForEveryDay.org.

“In this way democracy, contradicting its own principles effectively moves towards a form of totalitarianism. The State is no longer the “common home” where all can live together on the basis of principles of fundamental equality, but is transformed into a tyrant State, which arrogates to itself the right to dispose of the life of the weakest and most defenseless members” (John Paul II, The Gospel of Life, n.20).

Reflection: Some see laws permitting abortion as a minor flaw; the Pope is saying here that they change the very nature of the state.

Prayer: Lord, free us from the tyranny of governments that think they can dispose of human life. Amen.

EMERGENCY VOTE IN CONGRESS! This Bill will STOP “PAIN-CAPABLE” ABORTIONS!

Monday, July 30th, 2012

“Surprise” Vote Being Taken in Congress
in less than 24 hours! — Tuesday, July 31st.

QUICKDROP WHAT YOU’RE DOING!

We MUST Tell Congress to
STOP LATE-TERM ABORTIONS NOW!

I’m sending this e-mail to you on Monday. (7/30)
The Emergency Vote in Congress is TOMORROW!!

PLEASE ACT NOW if I’ve reached you in time…

Dear Friends,

You’ve heard me use this quote many times before…

“A society will be judged on the basis of how it treats its weakest members – the last, the least, the littlest.”

Abortion, of course, is the worst form of human mistreatment imaginable. It is the intentional destruction of an innocent human life at its most vulnerable stage: In the sanctity of a mother’s womb.

Here at Priests for Life, we work every day to make all abortion ILLEGAL once again – because intentionally killing a helpless innocent little baby can never be justified.

But when one actually considers the methods of abortion, it’s just too horrible to even contemplate. Yet is it 100% LEGAL — and growing in frequency every day.

I’m talking about the intentional killing by DISMEMBERMENT of LATE-TERM BABIES (third trimester) who are CAPABLE OF FEELING EVERY BIT OF THE PAIN of being torn limb from limb – just like you and I would!

You probably already know that late-term abortion IS legal in America—although states can add some restrictions.

And it is legal in WASHINGTON, D.C.

Now in some states, new laws have been passed stopping abortion after 20 weeks because of the child’s ability to feel pain. And that’s great news.

Well, there’s an EMERGENCY VOTE being taken TOMORROW MORNING on a new bill that will PROHIBIT abortions after 20 weeks in our nation’s capital.

It’s H.R. 3803, the District of Columbia Pain-Capable Unborn Child Protection Act, often referred to as the “D.C. late abortion ban” for short.

And I need you to contact your Representative and STRONGLY URGE him or her to Vote FOR H.R. 3803.

Most people still don’t know that abortion is currently legal for ANY reason through ALL NINE MONTHS of pregnancy.

An abortion facility not far from the White House now advertises dismemberment (“D&E”) abortions on request, to 26 weeks of pregnancy — the beginning of the 7th month! There is nothing to stop abortionists from performing abortions even closer to birth — for a price.

What a disgrace to our nation!!! (And this is why Priests for Life is putting a lot of energy into raising awareness about dismemberment abortion! Educating people on this is one of our key projects.)

That’s why I’m happy to report that Congressman Trent Franks (R-AZ) has authored a bill that is now coming up for a vote on a “fast track” procedure that’s happening TOMORROW – JULY 31ST!

In the bill, Congress adopts findings that by 20 weeks after fertilization (if not earlier), the unborn child has the capacity to experience GREAT PAIN. The bill then prohibits abortion in the federal District after that point (the beginning of the sixth month).

This is the bill for which our Priests for Life team recently walked the halls of Congress, with some of our priests and Dr Alveda King. We were able to increase the number of co-sponsors of this legislation. And I want to thank our colleagues at National Right to Life for crafting this bill and lobbying for it so effectively!

And now, because of tomorrow’s vote, every member of the U.S. House of Representatives will have to go on record on whether abortion should be legal for any reason to the moment of birth.

Therefore…

If we can achieve a big majority on this groundbreaking initial vote, it will set the foundation to win legal protection for pain-capable unborn children in the not-distant future.

The pro-abortion fanatics are UP IN ARMS about this bill – because they know it could erode the entire “framework” of Roe v. Wade.

Listen: Babies are being BRUTALLY DISMEMBERED far past the point that they are capable of experiencing excruciating pain!!!
Congress and President Obama need to STOP this brutality by enacting the District of Columbia Pain-Capable Unborn Child Protection Act, H.R. 3803, which would ban abortion after 20 weeks fetal age.

YOU MUST ACT NOW!

I apologize for the late notice on this… but this bill is coming up for a vote IMMEDIATELY!

As in TOMORROW MORNING!!!

That’s why I urgently need you to drop EVERYTHING you’re doing right now and CONTACT YOUR CONGRESSMAN as quickly as you can—telling him or her to VOTE “YES” ON H.R. 3803 – the “D.C. Pain-Capable Unborn Child Protection Act” (or “DC Late Abortion Ban” for short).

Think about it: if H.R. 3803 passes…

WE COULD PUT THE LEGAL “NAIL IN THE COFFIN”OUT OF ROE v WADE!

So please… contact your local Congressman IMMEDIATELY.

And since the vote is TOMORROW, there’s ONLY TIME FOR E-MAILS or TELEPHONE CALLS.

If you don’t know who your current Congressman is or how to call him/her, there are several convenient ways to easily find out.

#1.) You can go right now to http://www.house.gov/ and enter your ZIP code and street address, and the web site will tell you who your Member of Congress is and what his/her office phone numbers are.

#2.) Look up your Congressman in your local phone book in the “Government” pages. Even calling the local office is better than nothing! The local office will call the Washington office and let them know they’re getting flooded with calls urging a YES vote on H.R. 3803…!

#3.) Or, call your local City Hall, the library, or your main newspaper and they can give you the Congressman’s contact information.

But no matter what it takes, DROP WHAT YOU’RE DOING and get your voice heard RIGHT NOW!

That’s because the vote on H.R. 3803 comes up on the floor of Congress TOMORROW MORNING

And We Can’t Afford To Be Even A MINUTE LATE On This!

Yes, it’s THAT urgent. (I wouldn’t pester you like this if it weren’t.)

Incidentally, they took us completely by surprise by sending this bill to the floor for a vote with virtually NO notice… because certain powers DON’T want this bill passed!

If you merely contemplate WHAT KIND OF PAIN AN UNBORN BABY MUST FEEL…

…WHEN HER ARMS AND LEGS ARE TORN OFF, AND HER HEAD IS CRUSHED…

… you’ll want to contact EVERY Member of Congress and MAKE SURE they ALL vote “YES” on H.R. 3803…!

Let them know that we’ll be closely watching their vote—ESPECIALLY since they’re all coming up for RE-ELECTION this November.

And what kind of a Congressman wants to be known as voting to keep LATE-TERM ABORTION (for PAIN-CAPABLE babies) LEGAL???

This could be “the last straw” for millions of Americans who rightly detest late-term abortions because these acts of murder are so UNSPEAKABLE.

And with your help, dear reader, we can get H.R. 3803 approved when it gets voted on TOMORROW! (Wednesday, July 31st).

Hopefully you’ll read this e-mail in time!

But to achieve this timely victory…

YOU MUST ACT NOW!

Thank you, in advance, for your willingness to let your voice be heard.

God bless you!

Sincerely,

Fr. Frank Pavone

P.S. To help Priests for Life continue all our work to defend the sanctity of life at all stages—especially the defenseless unborn babies who are brutally and ruthlessly slaughtered EVERY DAY in our nation—we ask that you please remember us in all your prayers and all your intentions.

In addition, I ask that you also take a moment to show us your support by making a small donation—quickly and easily—by clicking here.

It is only with your prayers and financial assistance that we can carry on our fight against the government-funded, media-backed, entrenched killing machine known as The Abortion Cartel—which is right now throwing everything they’ve got into the halls of Congress to stop H.R. 3803 from outlawing their lucrative LATE-TERM abortion business in Washington, D.C.

The Abortion Cartel knows full well that they stand to LOSE EVERYTHING if H.R. 3803 passes in the House of Representatives—less than 24 hours from now, as I write this.

Therefore, please CONTACT YOUR REPRESENTATIVE in Congress. PRAY that we achieve a miraculous victory for God and the babies. And SHARE this e-mail with everyone on your e-mail list right now, while you’re sitting at your computer.

Every time a Congressman hears from the voters, he’s hearing from THE BABIES.

Please… BE THEIR VOICE.

Take this life-saving action NOW.

The Stigma Still Remains

Tuesday, May 22nd, 2012

In many states, abortionists come in from a different state in order to perform the procedure. One of the ways to reduce or eliminate abortion in a state, therefore, is for the legislature to pass a law that says abortions done in that state must be done by a doctor who resides within the state. Let’s make it as difficult as possible for them to do business.

The fact that so many have to travel across state lines is, of course, a good sign. It shows a turn-off in the medical community to doing this procedure. Whatever doctors may think about abortions, their view of abortionists is uniformly negative. Long live the stigma! It is a stigma that the pro-choice propaganda machine has never been able to erase.

Join Us This Week in Prayer

Monday, May 21st, 2012

Pro-life people around the world are invited to join us this week in saying a special Novena to the Holy Spirit, Lord and Giver of Life. You can view the prayer and sign up to participate on our web site.

The period of time between the Ascension and Pentecost was the original novena, when the disciples prayed at Jesus’ instruction that they would be clothed with power from on high.

That Holy Spirit, the Advocate, made them bold advocates for the Gospel. The same boldness is needed by us as we announce the sanctity of life and denounce the many attacks on life, beginning with abortion and euthanasia.

Let us pray in this novena that He will make us bold advocates for the unborn and all the vulnerable.

Happy Feast of the Ascension!

Thursday, May 17th, 2012

Forty days after His resurrection, the Lord Jesus ascended into heaven. What was different on that day than when He was in heaven before coming to earth? The difference was that now He was in heaven in a human body and soul — the same human nature that you and I share. Jesus took our humanity to the heights of heaven, making it possible for us to go there, too. The Ascension teaches the world the meaning and destiny of human life: we are called to be in the heights of heaven.

That is why we can never permit human life to be thrown in the garbage by abortion and other atrocities. Jesus has taken human nature to the heights of heaven — the same human nature shared by every unborn child.

Father Frank on Passing of Father Norman Weslin: “Our Loss is Heaven’s Gain”

Thursday, May 17th, 2012

Father Norman Weslin, left, founder of the Lambs of Christ, with Father Frank.

Father Frank issued the following statement today after learning of the death of Father Norman Weslin, a pro-life activist and founder of the Lambs of Christ.

“Our loss is Heaven’s gain,” said Father Pavone, who worked closely with Father Weslin over the last three decades. “Father Weslin’s commitment to unborn children was so profound that he spent time behind bars on many occasions. He told me in 2001, while awaiting sentencing on a federal charge, that he wasn’t ashamed to be arrested because Jesus and the Apostles all went to jail. He believed that a priest’s place was not behind his people, lending encouragement, but out in front leading the way.”

Father Weslin served for 20 years in the U.S. Army. During his military career, he met and married his wife, Mary. They adopted two children and became active in the pro-life movement. When she was killed in an accident in 1980, he turned their home into a refuge for women facing unplanned pregnancy, and he joined the priesthood. He was ordained a missionary priest of the Oblates of Wisdom in 1986.

“We will miss his passion and his witness,” Father Pavone said. “But we are sure he is being welcomed with open arms by the unborn children he championed and fought so tirelessly to save.”

Fr. Frank: After 40 Years of Roe, It’s Time to Wake Up

Wednesday, May 16th, 2012

Father Pavone announced today that pro-life leaders and groups are gearing up for the 40th Anniversary of Roe vs. Wade, which will be January 22, 2013.

“I can assure you that you will see an intensification of pro-life activity at every level, and a greater unity among the diverse pro-life organizations,” Father Pavone said. “Moreover, this anniversary – which will be observed both as we lead up to January, and also throughout 2013 — will be marked by a significant recruitment of pro-life activists across the nation.”

In the coming weeks, various initiatives and events to mark the 40th anniversary will be planned, and special opportunities announced.

“One of the significant preparations for this major commemoration will be a successful election season in November. By successful, I mean that people will elect public servants who know the difference between serving the public and killing the public. Supporters of abortion have no place in public office, and it’s time to say so in the pulpits and in the voting booths,” Father Pavone stated. “At the end of this month, we have the first of three National Voter Registration Sundays designated for 2012 by the organizations that comprise the Vote Pro-life Coalition. Pentecost Sunday (May 27) reminds us of the new energy and courage that the Holy Spirit gave the Apostles to go out and change the world. That same Spirit is among us today, and it’s time to respond.”

Unforeseen Consequence

Tuesday, May 15th, 2012

The so-called right to abortion, which the courts have invented out of thin air, enables women to walk away from the responsibilities of motherhood and caring for a child they have conceived.

One of the many unintended consequences of this policy is that fathers are now beginning to claim the same kind of right to walk away from their parental responsibilities. In fact, lawsuits have begun in which men have claimed that because they offered to pay for the abortion of their child, they should not have any further responsibilities toward raising that child if the mother decides to give birth. After all, if we can’t force the mother to be a mother, why should we force the father to be a father? The bitter fruits of Roe v Wade continue to unfold.

Blest Are They Who Seek Justice

Monday, May 14th, 2012

Blessed are they who hunger and thirst for justice; they will be satisfied. This beatitude speaks to the heart of the pro-life movement. We seek justice first of all by seeking to be right with God and in all our relationships, and we seek justice by seeking to protect the rights of all, especially the weakest among us, our brothers and sisters in the womb. We are blessed not merely by believing they have a right to life, but by feeling the hunger and thirst, the longing and yearning, that they be protected and that this right be recognized and secured by law.

We also seek justice by working to extend healing and forgiveness to all who have been involved in abortion, that they too will be right with God and know His peace.

God’s Choice Comes Before Our Own

Monday, May 14th, 2012

Yesterday we observed Mothers’ Day, a reminder to pray for all mothers who are afraid to be mothers. So many are already mothers and are just finding out that they are carrying their child within them. They need our encouragement and support, no matter how unplanned, surprising, or shocking the pregnancy may be to them or to us.

The fact that motherhood begins before the mother realizes it reminds us of Jesus’ words from yesterday’s Gospel: “It was not you who chose Me; it was I who chose you to go forth and bear fruit that will last.” God’s choice always comes before ours. When He chooses that someone is to be a mother, let us respond with joyful support.
