Many pro-abortion public officials are eager to pass a piece of federal legislation called “FOCA,” the “Freedom of Choice Act.” This was introduced under President Clinton, but was defeated. Abortion supporters claim that FOCA would codify Roe vs. Wade into the law. Actually, FOCA is far worse than Roe vs. Wade.
Even under Roe, the states can exercise some control as to the conditions under which abortions are performed – for example, that a minor-age girl would have to have her parents informed before undergoing abortion.
But FOCA would take all that away, and treat abortion as practically an absolute right, despite the fact that the American people seek more – not fewer – restrictions on abortion.
