Our Government Pays no Heed to the Constitution

STATEN ISLAND, NY – Father Frank Pavone, National Director of Priests for Life, issued the following statement today following the U.S. Supreme Court decision upholding the constitutionality of the Patient Protection and Affordable Care Act.

“The Supreme Court today officially declared that our current government pays no heed to the Constitution.  Neither the President, nor Congress, nor the Supreme Court appears willing to protect life or liberty.

“If ever there were a time in history when the American people needed to be informed voters on Election Day, this is it.”

Priests for Life filed a lawsuit in February against the Health and Human Services mandate that all employers provide contraception to their employees free of charge. That lawsuit will continue.

“Priests for Life will remain vigilant on the issue of contraception,” Father Pavone said. “The mandate is a brazen attack on our religious liberty. Today’s ruling on Obamacare was a setback, but it is not the end of the battle.”

Here’s a thought, how about you guys don’t use contraceptive because you don’t believe in it, and then you leave those alone who do not follow your religion, because it never has been nor will it ever be your right to try and impose your religious ideology as law in America.

I don’t get how people can be so damn ignorant to the bigger picture. this isnt about your religion and wasn’t even meant to attack religion to begin with. oh god they are going to pay for our contraceptives, no one said you or anyone else HAD to use them. Nothing is perfect and a perfect world for you’re religion isn’t going to exist.

Religious Liberty is one of the cornerstones of Western Civilization. Trace every great advance back far enough and you end up at people struggling for religious freedoms.
But even with the first lines of the Declaration of Independence ringing in people’s ears, how can we say that liberty is a greater virtue than life itself? As a Canadian, i have no horse in this race. But I don’t see how raising the minimum standard for the poorest and marginalized among us can be anything but good. Do you really want to prioritize liberty over life? Because if you put what Jesus says about life on one side of a scale and what Jesus says about liberty, liberty is going to get a nosebleed (from the altitude …)
