Abortion supporters sometimes have bumperstickers that say, “Prayerfully pro-choice.” The implication here is that they have consulted God about a procedure that dismembers little babies, and have found it to be OK.
This is a classic example of using faith against reason.
The God who gives us faith also gives us common sense. Nothing that truly comes from God is ever going to tolerate the killing of innocent human beings. Faith should never be used to contradict reason.
The “Prayerfully pro-choice” slogan is also an example of using God’s name in vain. That commandment doesn’t just forbid cursing. It forbids invoking God to justify actions that offend him. The God whom we approach in prayer does not send us forth to prayerfully butcher little children in abortion mills. Nor does he allow us to tolerate it.
