Today’s Pro-Life Reflection

flag-and-cross

This reflection is taken from my book Pro-Life Reflections for Every Day, which is available for purchase at: ProLifeReflectionsForEveryDay.org

“We urge our fellow citizens to see beyond party politics, to analyze campaign rhetoric critically, and to choose their political leaders according to principle, not party affiliation or mere self-interest” (US Bishops, Living the Gospel of Life, 34).

Reflection: Politics, though messy, is an opportunity to shape society according to moral principles. The first requirement of a public servant is to be able to tell the difference between serving the public and killing the public. The inability to discern that attacks on life like abortion and euthanasia are evil should disqualify a candidate.

Prayer: Lord, shine through the eclipse of conscience that afflicts many public officials, and give them wisdom. Amen.
