Today’s Pro-Life Reflection

This reflection is taken from my book Pro-Life Reflections for Every Day, which is available for purchase at: ProLifeReflectionsForEveryDay.org

“The human person, unlike animals and things, cannot be subjected to domination by others” (John Paul II, The Gospel of Life, 19).

Reflection: If representatives of the Church abuse children, the State steps in. The Church likewise has a duty to intervene when state allows children to be killed by abortion. America is proud of its freedom of religion, and equally proud of its protection of human rights. The two can go together, as long as “separation of Church and state” never means that either one looks the other way when human rights is violated.

Prayer: Lord, may both Church and State be faithful in their duty to protect human rights. Amen.

“Do not touch the sea turtles or their eggs. They are protected by local, state, and federal law.” If we do not have the right to choose to smash the egg of a sea turtle, why do we have the right to choose to smash a baby?
