With Progress Comes Conflict

Several states are passing measures that define the unborn as persons from the moment of conception. This, of course, would ban all abortion in those states, but the Courts continue to maintain that the states do not have the authority to do that under Roe vs. Wade. So the question becomes, should states wait until Roe vs. Wade is reversed before they attempt to ban abortion, or should they ban abortion precisely as a way to challenge the Court’s current position in the hope of thereby overturning it? Pro-life experts have different answers to this question. One thing, however, should be clear: there will not be progress without conflict, court battles, and tension between state and federal government. We can end abortion, but we have to be willing to do battle.
