To the Editor:
Carefully note the latest tactic of the pro-abortion movement. They cannot deny that pro-lifers are peaceful, and that unfortunate incidents of violence are starkly at odds with our 21 year track record of non-violence.
So they blame us for what we say, instead. The statement issued by the National Abortion and Reproductive Rights Action League subsequent to the recent shooting objected to our calling abortionists "baby killers," and implied that this fuels the violence.
Being peaceful does not satisfy the pro-abortion forces. They are not so much disturbed by our actions as by our message. They do not want us only to denounce violence. They want to re-define violence. "Violence" to them is whatever contradicts their ideas. To express disagreement with the actions of abortionists or women who go to them is called "harassment." The only way to please the pro-abortion forces is to shut up.
But we do not have to please them. The content of our message is the same as it always was: Life is sacred; we are ready to help women in need. Abortion does in fact kill babies and we do in fact peacefully save them. If pro-abortion people get upset with that, the problem is on their side, not ours.
