Priests For Life to address Knights of Columbus
Father Walter J. Quinn, priest associate of Priests for Life of New York
led by Father Frank A. Pavone, will address the Knights of Columbus and
people of all faiths of Daphne and Mobile on "The American Holocaust" of
abortion at 6:30 PM on Thursday, September 20th, at the Knights of Columbus
Hall on Main Street, Daphne, next to the Shrine of the Holy Cross Church in
Daphne. Father Quinn, an ordained priest for 40 years, former U.S. Army
veteran and businessman, will address the abortion issue facing the nation
in view of American history and what it will take to win the war for the
forces
of life. The free pro-life gathering, with reception and
refreshments, is open to people of all faiths and is sponsored by the
Knights of Columbus Council 2737 of Daphne, AL.
Father Walter J. Quinn, O.S.A., is a member of the Augustinian province of
St. Thomas stationed at Villanova University, at Philadelphia, PA. Fr. Quinn is
one of now 6 full-time associates traveling the country on pro-life mission with
Priests for Life. He is a Graduate of the University of Pennsylvania and the
Wharton School of Business, having served two years in the US Army during the
Korean War. He then worked in industrial sales traveling on the road in the PA,
NJ and DE tri-state area. After discerning his true vocation, Fr Quinn entered
the Seminary at Villanova University and at the Augustinian College in
Washington, DC, and was ordained to the Priesthood in Washington's National
Shrine of the Immaculate Conception in 1961.
Fr. Quinn brings to Priests for Life and to America, 38 years of pastoral
experience as an Augustinian priest, a business and military background. He has
been involved in the pro-life movement since the late 60's, long before the 1973
"Roe vs Wade" decision that overturned America's laws which protected unborn
children in their mothers since the founding of our nation.
Father Walter Quinn's appearance at Mobile is part of the Priests for Life -
Mission of Life Alabama Campaign, which will begin with the celebration of Mass
over EWTN at Our Lady of the Angels Monastery, at Irondale, AL on September
19th. Radio and TV appearances are scheduled at Birmingham, Montgomery, Mobile
and Pensacola. Fr. Quinn will be traveling across Alabama aboard "The Guardian
of Life" RV, sponsored by Alabama Citizens for Life and Mission of Life USA. Fr.
Quinn and PFL-Mission of Life volunteers will be on hand aboard the LIFE RV to
promote life issues at both the Florida Respect Life Conference 2001 at
Pensacola on September 21st, 22nd and at Life Symposium 2001 at Mobile, Monday,
September 24th. While at Mobile, Fr. Quinn is also scheduled to address the
Youth Mass at Christ the King Church at 11:00 on Friday September 21st, and to
celebrate other daily mission masses at St. Dominic's and at St. Pius X
churches.
