Activist to preach here for 'Life Mass'
An anti-abortion activist from the group Priests for Life will preach for
Masses, lead a youth program and participate in a rosary march this weekend at
St. Mary's Catholic Church in Lancaster.
Catholics Defending Life of Lancaster is sponsoring the Rev. Denis G. Wilde's
appearances here.
Wilde's theme for the weekend will be "Gospel of Life."
Saturday events will begin with a 9 a.m. Respect Life Mass at St. Mary's, 119
S. Prince St., followed by a rosary march to Planned Parenthood. Mass will be
celebrated at 5:30 p.m.
Sunday will begin with Masses at 8:30 and 11 a.m. Catholic Youth Ministry
programs will be offered at 2 p.m., with Mass at St. John Neumann Catholic
Church, 601 E. Delp Road, at 5:30 p.m.
St. Mary's has held a 9 a.m. pro-life Mass and rosary march on the last
Saturday of the month for 2 1/2 years.
Wilde, a native of Long Island, N.Y., is a member of the Augustinian Province
of St. Thomas of Villanova and served on the faculty of Villanova University
from 1977 until 1998, when he began serving Priests for Life.
He holds a doctorate in music from The Catholic University of America and
served as a choral director at Villanova and as a guest director of other
college chorales both here and abroad.
Priests for Life, a Catholic association in Staten Island, N.Y., assists
clergy of all denominations in addressing the abortion issue.
All the weekend events are open to the public.
