Catholic New York -- March 2002 Issue
Dear Editor,
We wish to thank Catholic New York for its usual excellent coverage of the
March for Life in Washington, DC.
Along with the events noted in the articles, readers will be interested to
know of a few of the other pro-life gatherings that occurred in Washington in
the days before and after the March. Dr. Tony Levatino, former abortionist from
New York, led a gathering of the "Physicians' Life Alliance," which brought
medical students together from across the nation to reflect on the moral
dimensions of the profession they are entering.
Seminarian Life Link, led by National Director Eric Bowman, met to lay out
plans for a national seminarians' retreat to be held August 16-21. This group
assists seminarians nationwide to prepare for the pro-life dimensions of
priestly ministry.
Tom Glessner, President of the National Institute of Family and Life
Advocates, presented to members of Congress and their staffs a live ultrasound
demonstration, in conjunction with a legislative proposal that would give
pregnancy resource centers money to purchase ultrasound equipment.
The National Pro-life Religious Council brought together leaders from many
Christian denominations to lay out plans to expose the false teachings of the
"Religious Coalition for Reproductive Choice."
It was, as always, an exhilarating experience to participate in these
gatherings, as well as in the many strategy sessions that were held among
national pro-life leaders. The movement is alive and well!
Sincerely,
Fr. Frank Pavone
Fr. Peter West
Fr. Walter Quinn, OSA
