Memorial to the Unborn Planned at Auriesville
Father Frank A. Pavone, a priest of the Archdiocese of New York and national
director of Priests for Life, will be the homilist at a Mass for the dedication
of a Memorial for the Unborn to be built at the Shrine of Our Lady of Martyrs in
Auriesville. The Mass is to be celebrated on Sunday, Oct. 2, at 2 p.m. by Father
John J. Paret, SJ., director of the shrine and vice postulator of the cause of
canonization of Kateri Tekakwitha.
The memorial, sponsored by the 71st District of Knights of Columbus of
Montgomery and Fulton counties, will depict a baby in the hands of the Lord.
Frank A. Cervera of Amsterdam, N.Y., honorary project chairman, said the
$11,250 memorial will be built at the end of a "long and difficult campaign." A
radiothon by the Knights in April raised about $3,000 toward the $11,250 cost,
and donations are still being accepted: Auriesville Memorial for the Unborn, c/o
