Marking the second Priests for Life Pro-Life Parish Weekend in Memphis, TN, this year, Fr. Scott Daniels visited Our Lady of Perpetual Help Catholic Church. Fr. Daniels preached at all five Masses and presided at one.
It was a time to share with old friends as Fr. Daniels saw many former co-workers from various ministries with whom he worked during his time in Memphis. One such friend, Dr. Mary C. McDonald, the Superintendent of Catholic Schools for the Memphis Diocese, initiated the conversation with Monsignor Edmund Creary to have a Priests for Life weekend.
In his homily, Fr. Daniels spoke of Wisdom; that the truly wise person is he who lives and embodies the commandments and precepts of Almighty God. He narrowed the expression of wisdom to one commandment, “You shall not kill,” tying it to the scourge of abortion.
On Monday, Fr. Daniels was the main speaker at the 40 Days for Life mid-point rally. He emphasized our need to trust God for courage to be faithful witnesses to the Gospel of Life, adding that we are charged by Divine Love to remind our fellow Christians and the world of the ineffable gift that is life – life given us by God.
