Bishop David Zubik and the Diocese of Pittsburgh Mark the Celebration of the Annunciation with Six Lay Missionary of the Gospel of Life Professions!

We as the Church of Pittsburgh welcome the Missionaries of the Gospel of Life who help us mark the15th Anniversary of EvangeliumVitae. The Most Rev. David A. Zubik, D.D., Bishop of Pittsburgh

On March 25th  in the grand St. Paul Cathedral, the Diocese of Pittsburgh celebrated the Solemnity of the Annunciation of the Lord, the 15th Anniversary of Evangelium Vitae – The Gospel of Life,  and The Most Rev. David A. Zubik, D.D., Bishop of Pittsburgh, received the Promises of six Lay Missionaries of the Gospel of Life.

At the celebration of noon day Mass, Bishop Zubik eloquently shared with hundreds gathered that the heritage of the Missionaries of the Gospel of Life is found in the Mother of our Lord and our Mother, too, Mary -- the first Missionary of the Gospel of Life!

The Holy Mass was followed with a beautiful reception where Jim Pinto, National Coordinator of the Lay Missionaries,  presented the Pro-life Spirituality of the Missionaries and proclaimed that ‘every Christian is a missionary of the Gospel of Life, sent by God to evangelize the world.

The event was coordinated by Mrs. Gail Campbell, MEV and Facilitator of the St. Gianna MEV Life Cell, Pittsburgh.

Professions were made by:
Everett Burns, Gitthaline (Candie) Gagne, Mary Ann Mulkerin, Mary Catherine Scanlon, Revamarie Savage and Nicole Shirilla.

Biographical statements of each lay missionary were included in the ceremony program and each expressed the significance of the Association in their lives as exhibited by the following:

My goal is to spend my remaining life in lay ministry as a Missionary for the Gospel of Life under the authority of Priests for Life to help eliminate the scourge of abortion from our culture. (Everett Burns, newly professed MEV).
