Rev. William Scott Daniels, O.P.March 11-20, 2011
Fr. Scott Daniels enjoyed his first ever Priests for Life trip of ten days when he visited one of the country’s most beautiful and historic cities, Charleston, South Carolina. Travelling out from his Charleston base to Summerville, St. John’s Island, Kiawah Island, Columbia, and Mt. Pleasant, Fr. Scott not only saw much of the state, he saw people eager to work toward the Culture of Life.
Participating in Masses at Divine Redeemer Parish, St. John the Beloved Catholic Church in Summerville, the Cathedral of St. John the Baptist, and Immaculate Conception Parish, Fr. Scott maintained a full schedule thanks to the work of Respect Life Coordinators George and Donna Barber and the Diocese of Charleston.
He was the keynote speaker for the kick-off rally for 40 Days for Life at the Charleston Women’s Medical Center (click here for pictures of 40 Days Event); spoke to middle school students at Blessed Sacrament Catholic School and the Divine Redeemer Parish; preached to the cadets at the Citadel; addressed the University of South Carolina Newman Center and the Cathedral Young Adult Group at the Daughters of St. Paul; conducted a day long retreat on life issues at Holy Spirit Parish; and talked to students at Bishop England High School and youths preparing for Confirmation at Immaculate Conception Parish.
The end of the trip also brought the end of winter. It was a time of renewal, not only because of the season, but also because of the encouraging hearts Fr. Scott met in the Palmetto State.
