STATEN ISLAND, N.Y. In an effort to reach the largest international audience and to take advantage of the latest Internet technologies, Priests for Life announced on Feb. 18th that 57 full length pro-life audios will be available free of charge to any visitor to the Priests for Life web site. Fr. Frank A. Pavone, an official of the Pontifical Council for the Family at the Vatican, is known for his powerful and motivating speeches that have impelled many listeners to renew and intensify their efforts to defend the sacredness of human life.

Continuing to invigorate the pro-life movement through a new delivery mechanism, these dynamic speeches and homilies are available in Real Audio format in the "Broadcasting" section of the Priests for Life web site at broadcasting.html

The Priests for Life organization wants to make pro-life talks instantly accessible in homes, parishes, schools, offices, clinics, and libraries throughout the world at any time. Communicating is more than just "content delivery" and requires the forcefulness and conviction of an inspired leader to touch listening hearts. It is the hope of Priests for Life that these online audios will have that impact by increasing awareness and energizing listeners to take a more active pro-life stance

Commenting on the use of Internet technology to promote the Gospel of Life, Fr. Pavone has noted: "Like so many things in our world, the Internet is it gift from God which can be used to accomplish great good, or it can be abused in the service of vice. But the abuse of something does not preclude its legitimate use. Failure to adequately use a new tool for evangelization leaves the field open for others to use it to bad purposes.

"I urge all Christians and people of goodwill to become more familiar with this vast new means of communication so values that are crucial to the Church can be promoted.... Above all, of course, is the communication of the Gospel. The Eternal Word needs to go everywhere that human words can go. Let us not be afraid or hesitant to do precisely that with the Internet!"

Joseph Korka-Waadah, executive director of the Life Protection League in Ghana. Africa, has said, "Those cassettes are of immeasurable value, they are assets. for you wouldn't believe the [number of] people who wept openly at our last talk with the guild of registered nurses when we played the one with the message, 'Where Is Your Brother?' You needed to have been there."

Fr. Pavone's talks are prerecorded in RealAudio format and available in two delivery mechanisms: streaming real-time audio heard immediately while transferring or as a downloadable audio clip that can be saved to the visitor's hard drive. The use of this technology enables Priests for Life web site visitors to hear and store clips of any length with near-CD-quality sound over a standard modem connection The latest version of the RealPlayer is available free for individual download at http://www.real.com/products/player/index.html and can be installed on all popular platforms and operating systems.

With over 4,500 visitors each day from 50 countries and over 500 pages of useful information, practical tools and tips, and spiritual reflections, the Priests for Life web site is a comprehensive resource for all people who want to stop the assault on human life. The site is updated every day from Rome. Many of the written materials are available also in Spanish, and translations are being prepared in other major languages.
