STATEN ISLAND, NY -- The staff of Stand True Ministries, Priests for Life and all the ministries under the Priests for Life/Gospel of Life umbrella were saddened to learn of the untimely death of Students for Life of America field director Kortney Blythe Gordon and her unborn daughter, Sophy.

On Saturday, Oct. 8, Kortney, 28, and Sophy were killed instantly in a head-on car accident coming home from a Students for Life of America event in Georgia. Two students and an SFLA staff member were injured in the crash. A 58-year-old South Carolina resident in the other vehicle also was killed.

“I have known and worked alongside Kortney for many years; she was a friend, fellow pro-life warrior and a woman of God,” said Bryan Kemper, founder of Stand True and the Youth Outreach Director for Priests for Life. “For as long as I have known Kortney she has selflessly given her life as a sacrifice, standing in the gap for the victims of abortion.

“Kortney often quoted one of her heroes, Sophie Scholl, a young German activist who sacrificed her life while speaking out against the Nazi holocaust. Kortney has lived her life like Sophie and will be counted as a hero herself in the fight against the abortion holocaust.”

Father Frank Pavone, National Director of Priests for Life, said, "At moments like this we're reminded that this great pro-life movement is a family. Let's comfort one another with as much prayer and assistance as we can."

Students for Life of America is accepting donations to help with funeral expenses for Kortney and Sophy. For information on how to donate, go to  https://kortneyandsophy.sagefundraisingonline.com/2

Stand True and Priests for Life will be dedicating this year’s Pro-life Day of Silent Solidarity on Oct 18 to the memory of Kortney and Sophy.
